Excellent video. Always appreciate the 1A training videos especially with the k1500 as I have a 97 Yukon. One tip I learned was a seam ripper. For like stitching. A neat little hand tool that protects the wires you're trying to avoid cutting. And gets clean and safe cuts through loom and tape
I want to thank you for such an easy DIY VID on this subject. I've asked several so called Mech and watched several other videos and for some reason, I think they just wanted to look intelligent rather than take the simply road and explaining just as you did. Every single question I had was answered without watching this vid several times. Now I'm confident I can do this myself. Great job!!!

Thank you, this looks pretty easy. Is it better to crimp than solder the wires together? And how do you ensure the wires connect fully when crimping? Thanks!
Im curious how big a difference that makes too! I'm about to replace the license plate light sockets on my fox body and I was just gonna crimp the wires buuttttt idk. New to all this
I need to replace my radiator fan switch pigtail because the wire is cracked causing my radiator fan not to turn on. Thank you for this video & I hope this helps me in my line of duty the next few days. God bless 🙏
Excellent! Can you do one for the 1995 Pontiac Sunfire's purge valve connector? I noticed the insulation is gone and wires seem to be shorting out. The wire harness is bundled with other wires and it is a bit intimidating, thanks!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I been looking everywhere for this tutorial! My connector is all melted just like yours. PS: DO YOU NEED TO DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY WHEN YOU DO THIS??
I'm wondering the same thing but I don't think you have to bc each of the headlights /should/ have their own fuse to prevent anything bad from happening. Headlights don't come on as long as your car isn't on 👍
Do you have to twist the ends of the wire together before the shrink tube? Like or they just have to ever so slightly be touching inside the tube to make contact with one another?
If the wiring and terminal are not damaged, it’s better to take apart the connector and remove the wires. You need tiny tools to do it and you have to be careful taking the new wires out of the pigtail, but you only swap out the broken plastic connector and the rubber seals and it all looks factory again with no soldering, heat shrink or crimping required. If you’ve never done it before, just get an extra pigtail in case you break one.
Let me apologize in advance for my stupid questions, and thank you for posting this. The tool you use to strip the wires, what size did you say the wires were, and how easy is it to strip them? Is there a way to replace only a portion of the wormlike plastic tube covering everything as a piece of mine is starting to crack? I just want to take a moment to thank you. I dont have money to repair this. I just had an emergency and used all of my bills and the little xmas money I had. I'm hopeful the parts and tools needed will not bea lott. I had no idea what I was going to do as my sticker is expired. Seriously, you are a lifesaver. Anyone reading this please wish me luck. Seriously, I mean it. I will take all the prayers you guys can spare, LOL
I have a problem with my low beam headlight on both driver and passenger side going off and comes back on. I changed out both bulbs and harness with the same connectors and crimped them with the water protection heat sleeve on my 2011 silverado, but still have same problem. Any suggestions?
I noticed that the new replacement plug has 16 gauge wire and the OEM has 18 won't it just cause the wires to heat up now because the new plug isn't going to fail like the OEM If someone uses higher watt bulbs in the future I think you should be show you replacing the whole wires with 16 gauge from the starting point to the headlights and then it's definitely not going to happen again or cause a fire I would like to see a video of that if you can make one I have noticed that pretty much every newer vehicle has problems with the OEM wiring I'm not sure when they started doing this but it is a really big problem now and I think the auto industry needs to address the issue right away and be held responsible for using under rated wiring Thank you
What if wires have gotten cut a couple of wires in my harness got cut on my 2010 Toyota Carolla LE causing my windshield wipers my speed sensor and my gas sensor to stop working also fog lights
You dont have to disconnect battery nothing will short out aslong as vehicle is off and light switches are off the only time the power for lights would be on and possibly cause a short while working on it is if the vehicle is on or light switch is turned on
Thank you for this video! I was able to replace the right low beam connector on my 2017 Ford Escape easily 👍 Did every step exactly, I just needed to increase the size of the insulated connector and it worked perfectly…
So idk if you could help me out, but I basically did this same process with my after market headlights, but for some reason the headlight is much brighter than the other one now, I turn on my high beams and it seems to stay the same amount of light.. any possible tips? My neighbor is a good mechanic and he said it’s a ground problem.. so I’m not sure where to start.
I tried to do this. Couldn’t do it. The connector I got came w 3 wires for my Chevy Cruze; brownish-red, green, and black. While the factory wires are white, black, and yellow. Will be taking it to the shop instead. Hopefully, one day, I can do the job.
I stripped more than I had to can I use electric tape to cover the extra length? Or just cut and strip again?(working with a little length though, I'm working on the ignition coil connector)
How does one go about identifying and locating the correct matching connector type replacement for a wire harness? I Have a 2012 VW Passat SE 2.5L Automatic. A few years ago I had to replace the Leak Detection Pump. In the process of removing the connector from the old pump I damaged the connector clam such that when I installed to new Dorman Leak Detection Pump, I was unable to get the connector to snap on and lock onto the new Pump because the little clip/clam which secures the connector to the pump has been damaged such that the EVAP system says that It does not have a good signal thus I have been unable to stop the ODB II EVAP leak code from stopping. I have searched VW parts website but unable to identify the exact type of connector. Is there an International Registry of Connectors for all cares made (Foreign and domestic) .. If I pulled an old connector from a Junked auto matching the year , make and model, I like would have to cut the old connector and splice to the old wire harness. But I need to know where I can purchase a replacement connector or harness with the connector
+Broken We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I wouldn't recommend it, I did this on my Ford f150, it was misfiring because lack of conductivity from use the barrel connecters, so I took them off and just wired them together then sodders them with heat shrink wrap. For better connection.

Thank you Seth Rogen’s voice mixed with Danny McBride. I was able to fix my headlight socket. 5 stars.
I’ve used those same splicing connectors several times in the past but this is the first time I learned they are shrink wrap.
Same here! Makes much more sense because I always felt they never got as tight as I wanted. Great video all the way around 👏
excellent vid.... I actually learned two things... the longer/shorter cutting method and the length to strip the wires.... thanks alot!
thank you! this video saved me hundreds on a mechanic :))) I’m surprised I was able to repair this myself
I have to do this to my fuel injector pigtails. This video helped get me prepared. I will be doing this over the weekend. Hope it all goes well.

I use a soldering gun & rosin core solder shrink wrap to reconnect wires it’s the most secure way to do them
Bro thank you so much for the value you provided in this video. Took me less than 30 mins and avoided taking it to a mechanic. Blessings brotha!🙌🏽
Your videos are so helpful, thank you 😊 I will be replacing my blower motor resistor connector, do I have to disconnect the battery before I do that?
Hey thanks for this tutorial. I was wondering if you broke the clip off if it will still work fine. Any help would be appreciated.
Awesome video !!! Accidentally ripped my purge valve harness apart and got a check engine light, this should work perfectly fine 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Awesome video
so the wires don’t have a order to go in you can just cut which ever side u want longer ? they both connect to either side ?
No if you take the new connector and the old connector and face them the same way, just match the wire on each side and go from there
Exactly what I needed to learn to do.. Thanks for that help!! 👍🏼

@@chris_htepo Did you figure out if would be better to solder or crimp?
Does these steps go for all electrical connectors? This is going to be my first time doing this electrical work on my nissan altima
I need to replace my radiator fan switch pigtail because the wire is cracked causing my radiator fan not to turn on. Thank you for this video & I hope this helps me in my line of duty the next few days. God bless 🙏
Great video, can I attach a different type of connector to the old wire ? example, take off burnt H4 socket and crimp on a 9006 socket ?
Exactly what I was looking for, basic info on how to do this right.

Yes disconnect negative

Thank you..I was quoted 230 to replace a connector....I can but that tool and some tape and do it myself for way Less🤷🏽♀️
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!!!
Where do you crimp the connector, in the middle? I’m new to this.
Thank you for the detailed Video. Wondering if you guys made any video for 2014 Honda Accord EXL V6 valve cover gaskets replacement.
Thanks
Can you do this technique on an ignition coil connector? I worry that it would get too hot and melt the splice.
Does it matter which side u put to what side? Like is there a positive and negative?
Do you have to disconnect battery cables to do this ?

So the wiring doesn't matter which one you connect to? Thanks
I’ll be soldering my new connector in, but I like the tip to cut the wires at different lengths to avoid a large bulge
I was able to replace my damaged low beam thank you
Can I do this for flanking assist sensor connections?
Do you have to disconnect the battery
does shrink wrap protect from water? whats the danger..thnx
What about the one that has about 49 million wires in it? Same thing? Or use connectors?
I soldered the connector wires together and used heat shrink to insulate the wires.
I have a problem with my low beam headlight on both driver and passenger side going off and comes back on. I changed out both bulbs and harness with the same connectors and crimped them with the water protection heat sleeve on my 2011 silverado, but still have same problem. Any suggestions?

I think you should be show you replacing the whole wires with 16 gauge from the starting point to the headlights and then it's definitely not going to happen again or cause a fire
I would like to see a video of that if you can make one

I prefer to use a new connector with crimped on ends for a "factory" connection without adding a new potential point of failure.

What if you cut it before putting the other one next to it how do you figure out how to hook it up
Can you do this with a 02 sensor?
Good information 👍
What is the purpose of making one side longer than the other ? If there both level is it dangerous ?
+CyberGlo This is to help the connectors to sit side by side when installed and not create a bulge in the harness after installation.
Does the battery need to be disconnected first?
What happens if you use wire nuts?
You dont have to disconnect battery nothing will short out aslong as vehicle is off and light switches are off the only time the power for lights would be on and possibly cause a short while working on it is if the vehicle is on or light switch is turned on

would this work for a radiator sensor that's square to a circle one?
My car has two black and one green wire but my replacement has two black wires what do I do
Bro saved me with this mass air flow pigtail, it just sheared right off might need more wire though 💀
Gotta do this on my 94 chevy silverado's connectors
The headlights don’t come with the connectors. The headlights is just a shell 🐚. But great vid tks
Hey. @4:40 what are you doing and wat is it called
Do you disconnect the battery?
Bs I change my head lights and connectors without removing the bumper like you guys show
All my ignition coil connectors are broke inside, when I pulled them out they snapped
Could it be a fuse causing my left headlights to stop working
If it was the fuse then your both headlights will stop working.
I replaced mine and it’s not getting any connection any reason ?
Good video.
Why not just depin the wires out of the oem connector and push in the wires to the new connector?
And that connector will go bad again they always do best to solder and heat shrink.
Use a seam ripper.
What about corroded? Not burnt
Who's done this with 4th gen firebird window motor electrical connectors?
Can I replace a square connector end with one of a rounded type with this same method?
I wouldn't recommend it, I did this on my Ford f150, it was misfiring because lack of conductivity from use the barrel connecters, so I took them off and just wired them together then sodders them with heat shrink wrap. For better connection.

I liked everything but using a butt connector.
thanks! : )
