Of course. When 1 comes out it is ok. But nevertheless the cold air will blow right and warm left. Unfortunately you need to replace the air recycle actuator. It costs about 80 euro but the disassembly and assembly would take an entire day and overall cost will be about 800 euro.

Firstly, thank you for your response. I found that the flat actuator was indeed working, hence the correct code. But the mechanism that attaches to it, was sheared off. I believe this is a common problem. I also found that it was possible, very fiddly, but possible, to remove the actuator, by using a 6mm ring spanner and a bit of patience. I am yet to get a replacement, of repair the one I have (as I believe I can... I'm very handy when it comes to saving a buck. :-)) Meanwhile, the car is parked up and my Wife decided that the Alfa, though it is a fun car to drive, is now 12 years old, and so she has purchased a new car. Still; I have to rectify this issue in order to get any value out of it, as a sellable vehicle. I just have to find the time to put it back together. Thanks again for your input.

@@ImoldsoIknowstuff My pleasure if I may say so. I had it replaced by a mechanic. Here in Italy this problem is quite common since the same system is on a number of models of the Fiat family. My Giulietta Is 120 HP petrol / LPG and therefore very low driving costs. You've got to spend somewhere .
