Back in the day, I thought a more reasonable M13 route would be from Dagenham to Benfleet, meeting with the M25 in Thurrock. Essentially an upgraded A13.
It makes sense, if Maplin had taken off as expected (forgive the pun), despite having a fast rail link loads of people would have wanted to go by car, just like they do now to Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. So one motorway route would not have been enough.
@@UK.RoadsCyclingandTransport sure, it was just an option. someone built a railway on the seabed before , all the carriages were on stilts !, not sure if they got the octupuses trained well enough to keep the rails safe though.
The A12 can justifiably claim to be the UK’s worst road ..East Anglia has been ignored in regards to effective transport links despite having the largest port in the country!
So the idea was only as much as a simple line on the map, not much money was spent on the M13 was there ??? they ddint built the land bits and then quit ????
Nothing was built along with the other schemes, and I should have put it in the video as well and I've realised that there might be a little bit missing
I like your editing style, keep it up!
Thanks although I feel like it could have been a bit better

That would’ve made a lot more sense
great
Who would want to build a motorway in the sea?
60s road planners apparently
@@UK.RoadsCyclingandTransport Then again, they were also going to surround London with four ring roads
The plan was absolutely bonkers just imagine pollution levels even just with the one M25 the pollution level is crazy not to mention maintenance costs
India, they have done in Mumbai
Have they? Interesting 🤔
Interesting video, was there a point when both the M12 and M13 were planned to go to the airport?
Hello there, As said in the video they were planned at the exact same time, odd I know

What do you mean “put it in the sea”? Under the sea (as tunnels)? Over the sea (on raised roadways? “In” doesn’t seem right.
It's probably either, to be completely honest I'm not entirely sure it wasn't even stated in the documents I could find
@@UK.RoadsCyclingandTransport sure, it was just an option. someone built a railway on the seabed before , all the carriages were on stilts !, not sure if they got the octupuses trained well enough to keep the rails safe though.
It was most likely to be built on reclaimed land

There's a motorway in the sea between Macau and Hong Kong.
I've heard of that, isn't that the one no one is allowed to drive on?
