    Maybe it works if you can beach start it with a wing in your arms.. i am writing this literally as driving home from a completey failed session on 1350 with a 5.5m wing at ~9knots. If you are an intermediate level winger - do not underestimate how good is this guy to make it work…

      Is it your first go? May just take practice, don't be discouraged. With a +15-20L board and a 6-+m wing, a water start may work.. I can pump up my Axis 1150/460 (1700cm2 and 7.7AR) in sub 10's with a 6m Aluula wing. Im 74kg's on a 90L. Maybe pair a 7m? It can be frustrating at first but worth it 🤙

      @@BrettWae I am not saying it is not possible, the guy in the video proves it is! My level: I dockstart foil and pump for 1min20secs, ride kites, wings, windsurf boards, can do 19/20 gybes with foot change winging/kiting, but I had no chance today with that 5.5m wing in 4.5m/s. Not even close. Maybe my wing is too small? I just think youtube is full of such videos “buy this foil and you don’t need wind any more”, which is only true for really pro-level people…

      @@mindebrolis9582I've been out in really marginal conditions with a similar 130cm F4 foil. But used 8.0 North Light wind. Then it was no problem.
      To me, a 5.5 is certainly no light wind size.
      87kg and similar level as you, except for the dock start.

    Hi great videos lots of useful information I have been windsurfing for about 10 years. This year I want to give wing foil a go. I have bought some used equipment.
    Foil low aspect:-
    “Gong”
    Mast length 80cm
    Front wing XL Wingspan 90cm x 2100 cm²
    Stab Wingspan: 45 cm X 400 cm²
    Wing:-
    “Gong”
    5m²
    I am a little bit undecided about which board to buy? (I am 73kg) I have narrowed it down to two boards.
    The first is an Inflatable board which I like for traveling being so compact
    Length: 5’11 = 180.3cm
    Width: 30″ = 76.2cm
    Thickness: 5″ = 12.7cm
    Volume: 135 liters
    The second is a Hard Board
    Length: 5’7 = 170,2 cm
    Width: 31″ = 78,7 cm
    Thickness: 5″ = 12,7 cm
    Volume: 120 liters
    What I would like to know does it makes that much difference to the learning curve inflatable vs Hard Board? From what I have learned from your channel the Big Foil and Wing should be ok??
    Thanks

    tried and tested: use a 1750 and an 8m2 wing - will work also for the less perfect rider in 6-8 knots of breeze

    I've been using the 1350 for a four months now winging in 10 to 15mph. It's given me 30 extra days on the water this season when I would have been waiting for more wind. So sweet I can use my 5 meter with the KT Dragonfly 105. The 1350 turns really well by heading up wind to bleed off some speed to carve a tight turn. It has spoiled me with its low take off speed. I had the 1150 and 950 leviathan and I was not impressed with the performance my 999 medusa is more fun. Just takes a small swell and no need for the wing. Easy 360's and backwinding also.

      @DamienLeroyYouTube  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the 1350 is the better for light wind winging and has plenty of lift for your weight. The 1550 is gonna harder to roll side to side so it’s more designed for flat water pumping and straight lines really. It will work for light wind winging, but the 1350 is the king in this category in my opinion. @@scp8412 thanks SCP. I tested 980/399/713 setup and I’m circa 83kg dry. It’s low end was fine, carving and tacking are great and swell riding was beautiful. The but is I couldn’t push it past 27.1 Kmh that session. Then compared to my axis 999 and then straight after my north Ha1050 and both I could speeds of 33 Kmh that day. However the 980 has a much nicer surfy rail to rail feeling on the swell face. The wind was full of holes that day with periods of waiting for gusts. I’ll wait for a better wind day to test again. I just need it to accelerate and be faster than that first test.

    Hi. What a masterful demonstration, awesome video. But didn't Axis just release data on the new 1201 wing where a guy pumped it for over 3 hours, so isn't that better than 45 minutes? Unless I've missed something in the detail. Regards.

    • @stkl23
      @stkl23 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Prone foiled it for over 3 hours. So he could „rest“ whilst riding waves. The kid in Italy pumped non-stop for 45mins.
      The 1201 has way less area and volume. So it requires much more energy when pumping it.

    Great!! But once fallen into he water, it's swimming back!? For all who don't get the beach start done: is a long downwind board with a huge HA Frontwing a light wind solution? Damien: will you test that for the "normal wingfoilers" who might be 80 % of your wingfoil-followers 😀? Thanks!

    • @stkl23
      @stkl23 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! A long but narrow downwind board is THE lightwind weapon. You can get going on smaller foils which means you can go faster than with the big liftier ones. I ran the ARTPro 1201 with an 8ft Downwind board in 8-10kts this weekend and had a blast.
