very few coloraturas don’t grate on my ears!! Sopranos! Please think twice before trying to become a coloratura if you really are not one. after all, you don’t want to annoy your audience, that is worse than anything. by definition, this should be a very rare voice type but unfortunately the amount of them around these days or trying to sing like one are suspiciously way too many. OUCH! My ears!

I was 16 and the first opera I saw was Sutherland in Lucia di Lammermoor. High staccato notes like starbursts in the night sky.
