Knowledge is so much more valuable than money. I find it so sad to hear people missing that fact even when it stares them right in their face. And honestly as Swede I find it incredibly rude that people text strangers for money just because.
But anyway thank you, Dan, for sharing, teaching and putting out such inspiring content. It continues to help motivate me to work towards my goal of not needing a wheelchair part-time, finishing my studies and starting own business. A great teacher isn't one that inspire you once, but one that inspire you over and over again when you need it the most. Thank you, Dan!

I started selling candy at 7th and 8th grade and the first week of selling was the hardest no one wanted to buy then after that week I was making 20dollars or more a day. I started the business with 40 dollars worth of candy. After those two years I started a online business buying and reselling. After half of year of reselling supplies from the Chinese markets I made more than those people asking for it. Then I here I am trying get more ideas.

Exactly, I had a customer I was doing some design work for (I'm a branding professional). He was - and btw still is - concentrating on getting investment to his idea, which is a very generic one. He already failed with 2 investors along the last 16 months who backed out when they saw he doesn't know what he's doing. Even when he got some of the money, he just bought tools (cars), which were just sitting there, because there are no customers... at all. Not even one. Funny thing that the guy is also trying to sell investment "opportunities" like real estates, energy trading. Btw, the guy couldn't afford to pay my fees since 9 months now....... so yes, it is true, you gotta provide value, sell first, prove that you can do something, and then, when you're very good at it, then you can look for investment

This guy has it nailed. He really does understand business. Some rules: 1) Get the money from your customers by selling goods and/or services. Mr. Lok is right on about that. If you can't do that then you don't have anything to build upon. 2) Own your real estate. Your business should earn enough that with high payments you can pay it off, or most of it, early. Be prepared to pay a high down payment for the real estate so you will have equity. From then on you have financing built in. Borrow money on your real estate. You'll get a lot cheaper rate from the bank for money loaned on real estate that from anything else. 3) Take your profits in growth of your business rather than actual cash profits. It looks the same on your balance sheet, but it is a lot easier to hide at tax time because increased value of your business does not show up as cash flow. I hope this helps somebody out there.

Absolutely spot on!! My money comes from my clients, not financing. I will say one thing, adding value first is a tactic I learned early on, I got burned many times doing that. They take what you have, then never buy shit. DO NOT be afraid to ask for the money. If they are not willing to pay for your services up front (at least 50%), then most likely they have no intention on paying you at all. That has been my experience. Cheap bastards will make you broke.

I have a family of fish that always start off saying "I need a favor" before wanting to borrow money knowing that can't repay it. Loaned my brother $455 6 months ago and never got that back.
