Elise, please go and buy a fan to go on top of the woodburner - it is just metal and if you place it on top of the woodburner it spins when the top gets hot and spreads the heat around the room, it is economical and cuts down on the amount of wood you have to burn. You will be surprised at the difference it makes. Amazon sells them and I think hardware stores do too. (Sorry if I appear to be bossy by telling you what to do). Its great to see signs of spring popping up. Your new door is lovely, you could paint the bit around the window white along with the frame and leave the wood showing on the door itself. I think that an orange curtain or sunny yellow would look lovely in your kitchen. I love the corner shelf and your new cushion and rugs. Your cabin is starting to look very homely.

My uncle has a cottage and in the winter we have the same problem that it gets so cold it’s unbearable 🥶 In the winter we need to add something to the bottom of all the doors, apply extra layer of curtains to the windows and keep them closed when we leave the cottage and at night, and we apply curtain over the main door also to stop draughts. And we wear many layers and thick socks 😂 then when spring arrives we remove them all!!! Xxx

Use the rest of the green gingham fabric to sew some cloth napkins or a couple pillow covers to mix in with the embroidered pillows on the bed. That way you're connecting the two rooms with that fabric and it does add a bright whimsical touch! I absolutely love your cabin and have enjoyed watching you transform it, Elise! :)
Love the new door. Also we only use a wood stove all winter. And my best advice is to aim a fan at the ceiling to circulate the warm air that has risen to the top. It will help warm the cabin more efficiently. 🌻🧡

Also, when you have a fire burner or fireplace type heating source you have to have a fan that blows the heat around the room otherwise it just stays in one area that's why it's still cold in your place. Plus, you have a cement floor, no curtains... if you added a carpet and thick curtain (drapes) that would also warm it up.
Sewing thicker curtains will help with the windows keep the cold drafty air getting in. Also a thick Persian rug will cozy up the cement floors. Can't wait for Spring to blossom in your garden

Self adhesive vinyl tiles stick right to the concrete like a sticker, and come in any color or pattern you can think of. You could checker them like the curtains or whatever else you'd want. Also, you can cut them with a box cutter into any shapes you like. It would take the edge off the cold floors for very little money and trouble. If you felt really ambitious you could also use a liner underneath that would further insulate the floor. The green check might make nice café curtains but also it might look too busy. We'd have to see. But definitely NOT on the big window. Personally I think a lace that complimented the one you already have would make better curtains and wouldn't effect the light. Can't wait to see what you do! Also, you need cute little rain boots. They make them in all colors now, even ones with flowers, so cute!! Then you could walk through anything. Use a color, let’s say a soft yellow, and use the green checked fabric as a top or bottom border. I sew and I just love to create pillows, tablecloths, and curtains. Look at the thrift stores and see what kind of fabrics they have. Old bed sheets are great. Love your cabin ❤️
I think you could find a white or yellow fabric and simply gather a strip of the green gingham as a ruffle. It would give continuity, but wouldn’t be overwhelming. Just a thought. Your bulbs are exciting!

I'm catching up with your videos, so you may have already done this, but to make you little corner shelf more secure, get a piece of wood the same thickness as the troublesome piece. Put it in back of the shelf and use a longer screw to screw through it and into the wall.

Those bulbs will be flowing in the next few weeks! We already have crocuses open in our garden. The tulips and daffodils will flower in a few weeks! Fruit trees will be flowing soon too!

I would paint the frame of the door white to match the windows. But then, the slots, i would go wild with all kinds of colors, and designs. And i probably would paint the inner frame of the door's window white again, to make it all cohesive. As for curtains, i would find some sheer/transparent curtains with colorful embroidered (or otherwise) flowers. I love flowers. I say just put a protective coat on the door, and paint the trim orange for pop of color. You could add orange to the window boxes as well to brighten the whole look. I know a great way to brighten the new throw pillows. Soak them with laundry soak and laundry booster for several hours. Then rinse them and put them in the dryer with tennis balls. The fading is gone
I like the white door with some bright green to do the trim and maybe even paint or stencil a vine growing over the door to keep is simple. If you want more flair you could add a bird or butterfly even flowers and make your door a part of your garden. And I am also a girl that likes power tools!
Elise, I think you are correct to use another color such as a warm yellow or a very light print on a off-white for your curtains. The green is very busy and though it looks really good in your kitchen nook I think it will detract from your overall feeling of peace and comfort. For the door border/frame I would do a nice blue, or a light teal, or a deep rich pink since you have pink inside to transition smoothly. I like the green check material but I think with the more muted warmer tones in the paper it looks a bit harsh. I think warmer tones like you said is the way to go. I can't wait to see what you decide works best. As for you door...it is so goegeous I hate to see it painted. I would do white trim as the rest of the house and maybe a warm stain and then poly coat it to bring put the grain. I am a big fan of natural wood trims. ( 😃)

I know from experience that when you have a cabin or travel or just leave your house, there’s ALWAYS something you’re going to forget 😄. Oh, here’s an idea for your curtains. Use a color, let’s say a soft yellow, and use the green checked fabric as a top or bottom border. I sew and I just love to create pillows, tablecloths, and curtains. Look at the thrift stores and see what kind of fabrics they have. Old bed sheets are great. Love your cabin ❤️

I think you could find a white or yellow fabric and simply gather a strip of the green gingham as a ruffle. It would give continuity, but wouldn’t be overwhelming. Just a thought.

I love the cabin. I think the corner shelf would be perfect where you have it in the bedroom, it would look really nice with a plant on the top shelf. The first rug you showed would look nice in front of the bed as well.
I'm catching up with your videos, so you may have already done this, but to make you little corner shelf more secure, get a piece of wood the same thickness as the troublesome piece. Put it in back of the shelf and use a longer screw to screw through it and into the wall.
I think you should paint the door and trim white, then paint the trim around the diamond window the same yellow as the cabin.
Elise, if you put weather stripping around your doors, it would stay warmer in your cottage. I also suggest a small electric fireplace.

You asked about the green checkered or not. I vote for a removing them for a warm color that matches your wall. …and not a checked pattern. I thought the checks were too bold. I love that back door! At our home we painted our door a different color than our house color, or our trim.

Those bulbs will be flowing in the next few weeks! We already have crocuses open in our garden. The tulips and daffodils will flower in a few weeks! Fruit trees will be flowing soon too!
Hello Elise, nice to see you at the cabin again. It's turning out more and more beautiful with each visit. I love the tablecloth. You asked about the back door. I would paint the frame of the door white to match the windows. But then, the slots, i would go wild with all kinds of colors, and designs. And i probably would paint the inner frame of the door's window white again, to make it all cohesive.
As for curtains, i would find some sheer/transparent curtains with colorful embroidered (or otherwise) flowers. I love flowers. I wonder if you can put something on the floor, maybe wood floors to make it warmer. Hope you stay cheerful throughout the week. Thank you.
I say just put a protective coat on the door, and paint the trim orange for pop of color. You could add orange to the window boxes as well to brighten the whole look. I agree with a fan to circulate the heat around. Search woodstove fan on Amazon. Zero electricity, the heat moves it. Curtains, in a gauzy white with pompoms. Love the bulbs sprouting up!!!

PS...in Greece in the villages they often hand large embroidered pieces next to the bed.....you could also use that 'rug' although it may not be vintage enough for the bedroom/lounge....actually will still be nicer in the kitchen..

No worries, as soon as you get rugs on the cement floor and curtains up it will make it a bit warmer. Your idea is perfect to layer the rugs. padding will be good to prevent sliiping.

I fell in love with your tablecloth. When I saw that tablecloth I thought to myself OMG that would be beautiful on the windows 🥰 the yellow would look good as well. I know a great way to brighten the new throw pillows. Soak them with laundry soak and laundry booster for several hours. Then rinse them and put them in the dryer with tennis balls. The fading is gone
I like the white door with some bright green to do the trim and maybe even paint or stencil a vine growing over the door to keep is simple. If you want more flair you could add a bird or butterfly even flowers and make your door a part of your garden. And I am also a girl that likes power tools!

Elise, I think you are correct to use another color such as a warm yellow or a very light print on a off-white for your curtains. The green is very busy and though it looks really good in your kitchen nook I think it will detract from your overall feeling of peace and comfort. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your new home that you talked about in your last video. Love how your cottage is evolving. The door 🚪 would look beautiful white washed so the woodgrain shows through. It's still in keeping with the color scheme but would add beauty in the texture of the grain!

For the door border/frame I would do a nice blue, or a light teal, or a deep rich pink since you have pink inside to transition smoothly. I agree that I didn’t think you should use that green checkered fabric for curtains as it’s a bit chaotic. I would go for something that adds warmth when the sun comes in like you said, so it creates cozy vibes.

I adore the green and white checkered fabric you are considering to use for curtains. But whatever you decide on will look great, because you have such a good eye for color and design. Why not make some curtains out of the green and white checkered fabric, since you already have it on hand, and hang them up to see how you like them. If they don't seem right to you, you can always get different fabric and make some more. Your kitchen is so bright and sunny.....a happy room! Is your kitchen fully functional now? Can you cook dinner there? I love all of your videos and each time you post one I can't wait to fix myself a cup of tea and watch your video. You have inspired me to begin some early Spring redecorating at my own house. You have the cabin looking so good .....the flower beds are going to be lush with color when the flowers bloom. So many people have suggested yellow or lace. I love lace..1. Because light flows thru and a lovely patterns appear on the wall. Some vintage or coffee dyed lace would look lovely. I like the green check material but I think with the more muted warmer tones in the paper it looks a bit harsh. I think warmer tones like you said is the way to go. I can't wait to see what you decide works best. As for you door...it is so goegeous I hate to see it painted. I would do white trim as the rest of the house and maybe a warm stain and then poly coat it to bring put the grain. I am a big fan of natural wood trims. ( 😃)

Also the things you want to put on the floor might be nice on the walls, mute the sound and keep warmth in, as well as give the homespun vibe to your cottage walls. It is coming along so nicely. 🌞🌼🌞
