Thanks so much for being here and watching everyone. We are only a few weeks away from launch now! Thanks as well for the kind comments on the music -- playing in the trio has been a really lovely thing to have going on while we do this refit. If you want to see some more music, we're on TH-cam as "Ask The Wind!"
That is so cool that the silver dollar from 1979, the same year as her keel was laid. So thoughtful. Wow. And when Aladino did his "monkey thing" that was impressive
Smiling faces everywhere: Maya happy about the occasions to make music (beautifully!), Aladino about one further important step towards sea-trial. MC II is already a beauty standing in the shipyard - on the water she will really shine and reward you for the meticulous work!
Its beautiful to see the serendipity with everything coming together so beautifully. We are witnessing creation on so many levels and its truly awe inspiring!
Hull had been supported on the keel for several years and hull has sagged down as keel pushed up into hull resulting in stays appearing to be to short. Once launched, hull will then start supporting the keel, hull will restore its shape and chain plates will appear to rise towards turnbuckles. You then will need to continually tighten turnbuckles. Don’t be surprised at 2” of adjustment. Love the project.
Such a thoughtful 1979 Silver Canadian Dollar present from Becca. Maya, we are so thankful that you found a Trio to play, practice and thoroughly enjoy. Amazingly brilliant the music played with this episode. Stepping MCII's mast was performed marvelously by the crane operator and for this we are encouraged her launch will follow. Spectacular, we are so Happy for Aladino & The Family at this exciting time.
I can't believe it's been 4 years already. Congratulations on the stepped mast, aways nerve wracking. My crane driver had a remote controlled rig which made the job easier. Love the music!
I’m a senior woman and know zero about boats but love watching sailors…u made it so interesting that I have watched most videos since build began. How we appreciate you from a fellow Canadian 🇨🇦 ❤ awesome music
Momentos tensos, mas o Magic Carpet II ficou lindo e imponente com seu mastro instalado. Grande trabalho Aladino e Brian....Amei as músicas Maya...Saudações do Brasil
I’m crying because of becky and the coin story how though full of her and to find the right year incredible. You two young people are amazing I’m so proud of you. And your father he is also an amazing person
I am not a sailor, so I have much to learn about the entire process. I enjoy seeing how all of this comes together. Especially such an integral component as the mast.
Congratulations on getting the standing rigging up, after so many years of uncertainty. We have lived on our own Dutch built schooner launched in 1980 and even after 22 years of ownership, sometimes part replacements are a guessing game. We live and cruise in the Philippines, but Vancouver was my home as a youth, with my first boat kept in Ladner. Hope to see you out in Palawan in the future…. Nick and Zaida
Another great video, the music was bu ta ful...the mast is standing upright ready to greet the winds and the work done from you both and pops has always been of one's best effort and abilities and something you two and pops all can be proud of..Thank You Both for The Sharing of it All, Your channel is One I TRULY Enjoy and Look Forward to Viewing Each Week .. Take Care and Be Well Everyone...
I am so pleased you found a meaningful coin to place under your mast, great stuff and I am sure it will bring you a lot of good luck. Love the encore as well. Cheers Ian
Hooray! The mast is up! Celebration time!! Happy for you! A real milestone! Can't wait to watch you SPASHDOWN! Watching you from from SPOKANE, Washington, USA!
What a beautifull epsisode and what a beautiful violin. Stepping the mast is indeed something very special. Very uplifting seeing the two of you reaching such a wonderful result. Fair winds and following seas ❤
I like try-genometry, for figuring the lengths of the shrouds. Thank you so much for the new music, its a tight little band you got there. Good to see the teamwork with the stepping. MG2 is looking more like a sailboat than ever. Like a horse in the paddocks, chomping at the bits.
I’m not a religious person, and something about Mya’s music choice paired with the visuals of the mast being lifted felt spiritual to me. Congratulations guys. She looks beautiful with her mast.
Here in Sweden we put our mast up and down twice a year by our selves. No big deal with a fixed mast crane when the boat is in the water. I chatted with a Dutchman about stepping our masts summer and winter and he informed quietly that they have an arrangement on the deck where there tilt the mast backwards every time they go under a bridge which can be several times a day. Which was amazing.
Maya & Aladino hi from Calgary. It is so great to see Magic Carpet II with her mast in place once again. Kudos to all involved a great plan produced terrific results. I can only imagine the stress that goes with such a major milestone. It still amazes me how vested I feel in the refit and I'm simply only watching. I believe the quality of your channel both actual hands on work and equally as critical behind the scene episode production are responsible. Thanks for including us in your journey.
The music was a real delight. His voice is so deep and mellow and good songwriting too. I found a couple more Ask The Wind videos. Hope there will be more.
So wonderful to watch a perfectly matched “father and son “, what a great pairing. The story of the coin just adds to the specialness of your story. Eagerly awaiting the splash day. Well done Maya…you know, behind every great man there’s a great woman 😅
Simply going to be the finest 1979 Cape George in the world . I am sure you guys checked , but first thing to do when it does not fit is make sure there are no twisted buckles up the mast , it is fully down on the step and you have not mixed up the stays side to side or even the spreaders . A little known fact is that no boat is symmetrical and neither are the spreader castings . Of course in this case I will bet it is a combination of the relocated chainplates and maybe a less saggy deck after all your repairs . A few years back I replaced all the bulkheads in a Shark and it was quite interesting just how much the boat deck moved upon the repairs .
So love the trio, the music was awesome. So good to have the rig up .Some correctly sized shackles will get you going , I'm sure you know that. Love your boat, Well done all ( special mention to dad ) from whitsundays at anchor , living the life.
Nice work. I’ve followed you guys long enough the appreciate how hard you strive for perfection, and yet the rare time that perfection eludes you, you remain calm, positive, and focused. And the results speak for themselves.
Great to sea the mast up. I know how stressful that is, I went through the same thing with an unknown rig last year. As an alternative to the shackles on the lowers you might consider adding toggles to make up the distance. It's alot stronger.
Just wanted to say I’m so inspired by how you guys do your videos, it’s such professional production, the editing, the music, the shots, so well done!!! Hoping I can make videos of this quality someday 🥰
She's a sailboat again! Best mast-stepping video ever - fun to see - and hear - the whole trio playing together. Congratulations on this major milestone.
That's what I call making some very cool music. You guys are awesome. You should have been playing while the mast was being stepped, would have decreased the tension for everyone.....lol Cheers from Austin, TX
That is a great video and always a testing time stepping a especially when you have never seen it up before and the several small details that can make all the difference to how it actually goes, but a great effort all the same 👍👍👍👍🇳🇿
Now she's REALLY looking like a sailboat - as ever, a credit to you both. The silver dollar is a lovely touch. However - a note of caution. While a coin under the mast is traditional, it actually had a practical application: when masts were wood, the copper / silver / lead would act as a natural biocide against rot getting into the end-grain at the foot of the mast. With an alloy mast and step, however, there is a risk of galvanic action between the different metals (silver is literally the opposite end of the galvanic scale from aluminium). Hopefully MC2 will have nice dry bilges, so no galvanic action will occur, but it's something to look out for when the mast is next pulled. I have seen a couple of boats which have been re-masted, and the original coin has been inset into the main beam next to the mast - seems like a good alternative place for it, if need be.
I met you at Chatterbox falls a few weeks ago. My boat is the one with the hailing port that says Chicago and Whidbey Island. If you haven't replaced your lowers yet just add toggles under the turnbuckles. Far less expensive and simpler than replacing the wire.
I must confess, this was a nail biting episode, but our CGC is getting nearer to completion with every episode. Soon you'll be on your way and I'll have to search for a fresh boat building/refurbishing exercise😢. Beautiful beautiful music❤
This is a great milestone. In a future video please tell us about the stability of MCII, how far can she heal over and come back up, at what point does she take on water? With the recent sinking of a Super Yacht sail craft we all want you to be safe and have a big margin of safety. It would also be a very informative video.
Thanks so much for being here and watching everyone. We are only a few weeks away from launch now! Great name for your group!
That is so cool that the silver dollar from 1979, the same year as her keel was laid. So thoughtful. Wow. And when Aladino did his "monkey thing" that was impressive
And, very obvious, the coin has a picture of a boat under sail on it, even.
That coin was awesome. The lady did a excellent job finding just the right coin to go under the mast! Boat is looking like a real sailboat.
Smiling faces everywhere: Maya happy about the occasions to make music (beautifully!), Aladino about one further important step towards sea-trial. MC II is already a beauty standing in the shipyard - on the water she will really shine and reward you for the meticulous work!
Those who were in the boatyard were very blessed to be there to see, to hear, and to feel your music. And also all the boats. Happy Sailing soon ⛵
I usually watch my sailing videos on 2x, the trio gave me a good reason to slow it down.
Lovely to see the generations working together so calmly and professionally together.
Just beautiful, no denying it is a sailboat now! Looks great on the hard, and can't wait to see it in the water.
I know the feeling of relief when the mast is finally stayed.
Wow. You have done it, Aladino and Maya!! Loved the beautiful musical trio as well, Maya.
Applause.............. Wow! what a wonderful surprise to see a boat yard trio. Great songs.
Its beautiful to see the serendipity with everything coming together so beautifully. We are witnessing creation on so many levels and its truly awe inspiring!

So glad to hear you playing again.
oh look.... a Sailboat!!!!!!!!
I can't believe it's been 4 years already. Congratulations on the stepped mast, aways nerve wracking. My crane driver had a remote controlled rig which made the job easier. Love the music!
Aaaaah. Some Soul food. Thank you Maya. A great video all around, but the surprise at the end was soul-soothing!
Great video, as always, and dittos on the music. Great!
always like your content. and what a dad!
now she looks like a sailboat! I can't wait to see the sails up!

I really appreciate that you guys almost always wear safety gear in your videos. Also bravo on the refit :) Well done!
i I truly love your trio Ask The Wind and the song was wonderful to listen too!

Oh yeah
Every country does it differently.
Switzerland where I worked we also stepped and unstepped twice a year with a fixed crane in the harbour.

Can't wait to see Magic Carpet under Sail... so close!
Wow, what a great episode. I love the boat work and definitely loved Ask the wind. 🤗 You both are so talented🫡 keep up the good work
This was thrilling to watch. Aladino should include it in his resume.
That coin will help with great positive energy. Along with all the beautiful work that has been done.
The two of you are so talented. Can’t wait till the sea trials

Nice stepping job. And nice music. Love how Maya is rocking that Dexys Midnight Runners look. 🥰
Thank you for sharing your beautiful music! Such a feeling of release after all your hard work on the boat - I look forward to the first album.
Well done! Beautiful trio of musicians
That is a great video and always a testing time stepping a especially when you have never seen it up before and the several small details that can make all the difference to how it actually goes, but a great effort all the same 👍👍👍👍🇳🇿
Your musical trio is beautiful. Do an album. It would sell enough to buy a ship. Loved the song you did.
Music is back! Wonderful.
Beautiful music! and it is so nice to see the mast in place.
So beautiful to finally see the mast up.
Lovely hearing your music too.
Love love love the ship yard music! Magic carpet looking like a sail boat! Congrats
Those songs on top of such an important step made for a lovely afternoon 🙏
Wow - look sailboat!! So happy for you both and this massive leap forward
Great video...I so look forward to Fridays and seeing what Magic Carpet is up to! Your beautiful music was an extra bonus...love it!
Now she's REALLY looking like a sailboat - as ever, a credit to you both.

Loved that music at the end🎹🎻🎸
And thank you and your music friends. You guys make my heart soar. With joy

The technical skills displayed were awesome. The music was very good, too. Thanks!

Lovely music from the trio.

Today began THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!! Congratulations!!!
Came here for the boat, and stayed for the music....cheers
The journey is everything.....the goal is the beginning of the next journey...
Aldino, you went up that mess with ease. Great job congratulations
Geeze the work, the time! Boat looks gorgeous. Looking forward to back to sailing.
Love the Port and Starboard socks!🥰
Maya, your music selections are amazing! I cant imagine how you do it. Congrats on this major step.
Amazing work, as always.
Thank you so much!!
Impressed with the music, sounded incredible gave me goosebumps.
