Most of the longer speeches I've heard at awards shows have involved speaking on behalf of those who don't have a stage or are readily dismissed. What is your definition of "self-involved"?
@@patricelockertanthony7630 Speaking for others is valid, balanced against overrunning the schedule for other subsequent awardees. I was speaking to thanking more than 20vpeop I expected, and or a lot of personal life background beyond a certain point.
@@patricelockertanthony7630 Exactly. Some speeches can be a little self indulgent, but MOST are necessary to be a platform for others, whose voices aren't reaching.
Holy moly- I’ve never seen her like this glamorous. She looks like a movie star from the 1930s. Wow! I loved her on broadway and cheer was wonderful and so was Fraser.
Oh! Tell me you've seen her in Madam Secretary...? If not; you can catch it on Netflix. The show had six seasons. Bebe Neuwirth was on for 3-4 of those seasons, and was exquisite in each.
@@rayoflight6505 I love both shows. Sam and Diane's fights and makeup scenes were epic. It was only near the end that it really lost something. Frasier I felt had consistently better writing. And some of the jokes weren't as mean spirited as Cheers jokes. I'm not a fan of mean comedy.
I used to live near by and work in Princeton, NJ, where she's from and where she attended high school. An old co-worker of mine told me he went to Princeton High school with her and when she'd walk into a room all heads would turn and look at her, even back then!
Lilith was my mother's (RIP) favorite character on "Cheers", mainly because of her deadpan, dry, and on point delivery. However, IMHO, without good writers you won't have good characters.
Bebe not only has dual Emmy wins for “Cheers” (for seasons 8 & 9), she also has won the Tony both times she was nominated: 1986 Featured Actress in a Musical for “Sweet Charity” (as Nickie), & 1997 Lead Actress in a Musical for “Chicago” (as Velma Kelly)!
The hottest member of the cheers cast made to look like one of the ugliest. After watching her character, its hard to believe she was a bombshell chick that would have make your jaw drop if she was walking down the street in a red dress like that 20 years ago.
I read somewhere years ago that even when she started on "Cheers", she wasn't sure if she really liked doing TV or concentrate on theatre performance. I think some actors just prefer live performance to studio, but she really did great doing both.
I'm glad BEBE won an emmy for LILITH. It is cool RHEA was nominated for CARLA. BEBE seemed a little nervous giving her acceptance speech, but she was straightforward and to the point much like LILITH. BEBE (LILITH) and SHELLEY (DIANE) are my two favorite CHEERS regulars. CHEERS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!
For those curious, the two season 9 episodes Neuwirth submitted to voters were ep 910 (“Veggie-Boyd”) & ep 924 (“Rat Girl”). She had also won the year prior for season 8, which is when nominees were required to submit three episodes to voters. Neuwirth’s were ep 806 (“The Stork Brings a Crane”), ep 818 (“Severe Crane Damage”), & ep 823 (“The Ghost and Mrs. LeBec”).
I loved her at the end of Veggie Boyd "Maybe the reason he doesn't like vegetables is because they remind him of his mother. Oooohhhh." And of course "Tractor? The sun will come out!! Tomorrow!!" The Rat Girl episode goes without saying... "Whitey was my favorite dead rat this BASTARD took and THREW IN THE TRASH!"
All brilliant actors! But Bebe, they got it right when they called your name. You simply make me laugh and fall in love with you every time you are in front of a camera!
I just started watching Cheers a few months ago for the first time on Paramount Plus. She is sooo fine ❤❤❤. I love her character, with the Elvira and Bride of Frankenstein cracks from the other characters lol
There was no way she could lose. Perlman at this time I believe had 3 Emmys, the Golden Girls emmy wins were to honor all four actresses (White first, then McLanahan, Arthur and her 'mother' Getty winning the same year). But Elizabeth Ashley and Faith Ford???? No contest!
And that is how receiving an award should be handled, humble and proud. Not like the BS we see these days of virtue signaling and holier than thou speeches from people that play pretend for a living.
Short and sweet acknowledgement, not a drawn out, self-involved speech. Radiating humility and grace. Adulting, as the kids say.
the speeches they give today are fucking ridiculous. Narcissism run amok.

God, Bebe Neuwirth was always a stone cold fox.
To quote Gene Wilder "She has the most magnificent legs, I've ever seen in my life"
Ehem sylvia
She got dancer’s legs and a damn sexy voice.
Absolutely!
A lovely and talented woman !
No prepared speech. She didn't think she was going to win. Classy.
Rhea Perlman is so sweet, as soon as she heard Bebe's name she smiled and started clapping for her. :)
Well... most people do that lol.
Rhea won 4 Emmys for Cheers (84,85,86 and 89 supporting actress), by 1991 it wasn't that important after she won 4

The key to a great speech is that the beginning should be very close to the ending.
Great acceptance speech.
She really looked overwhelmed. She is an amazing actress.
Her work Cheers was great, but, it was her work on Frasier that was outstanding.
And she was a guest on Frasier too LOL.
That's because the writing for Frasier was considerably better than Cheers.
@@jospenner9503 I've watched all 22 seasons of both and for me Season 1 of Cheers had the sharpest most intelligent writing of all 22 years.
@@rayoflight6505 Was that with or without alcohol?

Ben newerth is one of the greatest brunette beauties I’ve ever seen.
classic, movie star beauty.
and legs
She was 33 and she looked 25 to me. She was just wow, everything looked perfect: make-up, dress, hair.
Boobs.
Never realized when I was a kid how beautiful Bebe was she was a 10
Lilith was my mother's (RIP) favorite character on "Cheers", mainly because of her deadpan, dry, and on point delivery. However, IMHO, without good writers you won't have good characters.
In fairness, most writers aren't very good actors. That's why they hand their material over to those who can deliver it.
Wonderful actress. 😊❤😊
She is funny, talented and beautiful.
smart, sexy and has a fantastic body.
Broadway star wins an Emmy. Great achievement. I love Bebe!
She won two consecutive Emmys for CHEERS. This was her second win.
That nervous smile at the end is the cutest
Wow! She looks REALLY youthful there, much younger than Lillith.
She still looks great now. Obviously her lack of sun exposure has paid off xD
+Sloth from The Goonies
Which Frasier, Niles, and Martin used to make fun of during the Frasier episodes
Wow, that is quite a squad of talent there. Every one of them is a hall of famer.
The hottest member of the cheers cast made to look like one of the ugliest. After watching her character, its hard to believe she was a bombshell chick that would have make your jaw drop if she was walking down the street in a red dress like that 20 years ago.
John Falcigie she had them killer legs
You know I just realized if you dyed her hair blonde in this video, she looks a little like gwen stefani
She's a Broadway dancer. That's the body women like her have. It seems she was underwhelmed with that win.
I read somewhere years ago that even when she started on "Cheers", she wasn't sure if she really liked doing TV or concentrate on theatre performance. I think some actors just prefer live performance to studio, but she really did great doing both.
*And she certainly carried on that understated legacy into "Frasier"!*
My lord, she could melt Antarctica with that beauty. 💙
Bebe playing Lilith proves a broadway performer can reign in the theatrics
So graceful... Deferring to her "cast" more than herself, when She won the award. Man, I loved her then, and miss her now...
Damn that dress. Bebe was/is a babe.
She’s timeless in this clip. Her style can work in any decade.
The words "full package" spring to mind!
I ❤ this stunning woman. What a class act.
Ahhh yes, the emmys...
... when it was actually worth watching.
My thoughts exactly.
Wow she was stunning as well as extremely talented.
Gorgeous
Lady in red . . .
What a babe.
They're my favorites too. You have good taste.
Wow Broadway dancing for years can do amazing things to a woman's body.
And the Emmy for the most concise acceptance speech goes to...

She scrubs up so damn well. Legs are amazing too.
Check her out in her Newsradio appearance....quality
Over the years I have seen countless celebrities in person and Rhea Perlman is the one person who is far more attractive when you see her up close.
She was the hottest ❤ Raven in Hollywood ❤
Absolutely beautiful. Unimaginable.
She is still a handsome lady.
All brilliant actors! But Bebe, they got it right when they called your name. You simply make me laugh and fall in love with you every time you are in front of a camera!
Bebe most certainly deserved the emmy
Lady in red! She looked so beautiful that evening ❤
Oh damn, I didn't know that a show could have MULTIPLE actors/actresses nominated in the same category.
She should've done it in character. lol
Yes, that would've been so funny!
I just started watching Cheers a few months ago for the first time on Paramount Plus. She is sooo fine ❤❤❤. I love her character, with the Elvira and Bride of Frankenstein cracks from the other characters lol
Radiat beauty. Class and humility.
INsanely gorgeous.
There's someone who did not expect to win making a lovely acceptance speech.
i love her voice *__*
Why did they keep calling Dr. Lilith Sternin "Bebe" ?
The award was originally going to go to Rhea Pearlan but they changed it at the last minute so they could see her walk up there in that red dress.
God love you Lilith you're so dry
Gorgeous beyond words
Holy crap! That was here actual voice!!??
Before the ceremony became, "The Enemies!"
Extremely humble
So beautiful and extremely talented
Bebe was (still is) a FOX, holy cow.
It seems like such a modest dress until she turns and you see IT HAS NO BACK!!!
she is 1,000times hotter than loni anderson.
So was Jan Smithers.
Such a pretty face. Looks amazing in that red dress too. Love Cheers
OMG thanks so much for uploading this! I was looking all over for this! :D
Wow Lilith was freakin hot! 😍
Truly a beautiful woman
Cxxx 💐🌹💚
1:04 those legs! She's a dancer!
I like her as dr lilith sternin. Especially when her hair is slicked backed.ohhhhhh yeahh.

Never has an actor appeared less in character for the character for which she appears.
Does she have a Jersey accent normally?
She’s from New Jersey, so I guess that’s natural.
Loaded category that year
What a beautiful woman
Wow, she didn't blather on forever like some do. Cool. She has class.
So beautiful ❤
Good stuff loved cheers
Talk about a really solid list of nominees.
As well it should. She was fantastic.
Great chick. We love Cheers and Fraser!
Needs more VOLUME!
She's gorgeous
More than one actress being nominated for CHEERS.
That trio at the beginning are interesting, Lonie, Bert and his rug !
Bebe got LEGS.
Man, she looks just like Gal Gadot!
Well that’s Jewish girls for you!
Simple dress but beautiful
You can tell who had the best fashion sense by how they carried the looks of the 80s and 90s.
Perfection
See, this is why I love brunettes!!!
Go Bebe!! Wow Estelle does up well also
Bebe is the best! Love her.
She likes a real life Meg from Hercules
Man did i have a young guy thing for Bebe back then! She was a perfect cast for Lillith!
And that is how receiving an award should be handled, humble and proud. Not like the BS we see these days of virtue signaling and holier than thou speeches from people that play pretend for a living.
Wow bebe is pretty.
I'm in love all over again...
What a babe!
Back when the emmy's had meaning and class.
Yes, it is true. But nowadays the same meaning and class have sorely been lacking since 1996.
The best part of Bebe's speech was her dress.
she`s got a Morticia Addams thing going on here....gorgeous
She actually played Morticia Addams in the Broadway musical adaptation of The Addams Family. It was perfect casting.
Holy damn... Lilith is gorgeous...
Back when TV was good.
