Just so you know, the notes in the smoke alarm isn’t always a perfect g or g# it sometimes is g half sharp or g 3/4 sharp like make 38 to 50 cents above or below tuning

The notes in smoke detectors aren’t always the exact notes in 12 tet or edo tuning we use there can be notes that are actually in between called microtonal. Most popular ones are 24tet or quarter tone

Definitely my favorite video from you since this was the reason why I not only started to like fire alarms/smoke alarms, it built my TH-cam channel and grew my collections. Big thanks to you for this video that us smoke alarm enthusiasts grew up watching.
I saw a ceiling mount version of the edwards smoke alarm with strobe in a (somewhat) dorm at a national park.

I have a Kidde i9010 in my room! (There was none at first)
My dad’s house had like 5 Kidde 0115s but they were replaced with some of the first smoke alarms you showed here!
5:12 I still have 2 of those in my house and still work fine. Though, I do have a new 10 year life First Alert smoke detector that was in a 2 pack at Costco that's right in front of it.

We have the same thing as the pc900v dual smoke/co alarm, but larger and round and called the pc1200v. It is in the kitchen and not yet installed. They are photoelectric.

I have the KN-COSM-B. But we had to remove it because of speaker malfunction. It kept on beeping every minute.

Really cool that you collect these. I have a really old one in my house from 1977 or 1985 I would guess (built in ‘77, remodel in ‘85), prior to us buying the house. Was about to attach a photo here, but I guess I’m not allowed to.

The last smoke alarm you tested the fg200, those are sold to put in camper trailers, and RVs, but even for campers, I recommend a good one, like a kiddie nighthawk

Dang, man!!!! So many freaking alarms!!! Where do you get all the money for these? I get most of mine for Christmas or if I find money somewhere. Which is rarely.

My old house way back around 12 years ago had an alarm that looked identical to the KN-COSM, but it had no voice and did code 1 not code 3.
Thanks for taking the time to play the sounds. Not all smoke detector beepers set off Alexa Guardian alerts. Now Alexa will fire off a notification from my 12v burglar alarm bell with a smoke detector attached.
I have a question I have been trying to get to the bottom of. When I was a kid and lived in Syracuse, UT we had smoke alarms that looked identical to Firex, but they sounded like fire alarms like the steady buzz sound. What were those things? They were interconnected too we had one in the basement and one upstairs.
3 years late but I believe years and years ago, smoke alarms used to buzz. It probably was firex.

Just for your info, NFPA uses the term Smoke Detector for a device that connects to a control panel, and Smoke Alarm for a standalone, or Single/Multiple station device/s

LOL, at some point I'm thinking about searching for one of those smoke detectors that can power fire alarms so I can finally put my Spectralert Advance PC2W to use.
@@sethhorst6158 get a kidde hardwired wired smoke alarm and buy a kidde relay and follow the instructions and you will be able to make your PC2W go off

Lol I used to be afraid of the smoke detector in my home because it went off once (no fire) and scared me, and when I found out smoke detectors use light internally I was afraid to shine one near mine because I thought it might go off.

Yeah I learned the hard way about First Alert’s flashlight test feature. I was like 5. 6am snow day. I’m bored playing with a flash light and shine it at the First Alert in my bedroom. 5 seconds later beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep! Woke my mom and dad up and they freaked thinking there was a fire. At 5 it freaked me the hell out lol

The i4618A is one and/or one similar to the ones we had in our old apartment back in 2015. Now in our house, we have a Kidde in each bedroom.

Those two first alert's that you had that were malfunctioning we had ones just like those in our house but they were Firex exact same though went through the same problem and I figured out how to fix them but we didn't reuse them we got new smoke detectors

The kiddie nighthawk watchmen are the best designed and the best value for your moneys as for in fire alarm/Co2 carbon monoxide detectors.I have it for more 10 years.It stills working fine..

8:27 man I remember my grandpa had one of those Carbon Monoxide alarms but he exchanged those ones with some other Kidde alarms I’ve always wanted it but it’s about a 15 year old smoke alarm that some of them are not on sale anymore

All of the smoke alarms in my house are all connected so they all go off at the same time. SOOOOOO SAFE!!!

No, "The Radioactive Boy Scout" as he was known (who was *not* German) was pretty much insane attempting to build a nuclear reactor, while S.E.R. Safety is much more rational & sensible. The latter doesn't collect smoke detectors because of the radiation in them (which only ionization detectors have), he collects them because he finds them interesting.

My oldest smoke detector was the i4618A
I had that old Nightawk CO alarm that died a few years ago.
Since you in the subject of smoke alarm. Here's one I want someone to try this experiment, I was bathing with borax and baking soda for about 25 min.I triggered my smoke alarm/carbon monoxide. Can someone else try this to see to if this method activate their alarm.Yes my bathroom was close, but not humid due to fact I was able to see my self in the mirror, so it was not humid. Maybe these two component set off the smoke alarm.Thanks.

I have one of those single button Kidde smoke alarms. Haven't seen another one until now
If those are ionizing smoke detector they use a radioactive element which is americium 241 so I am not sure how safe is it to be exposed to a lot of them.
