Bouncing around on the implement will compact the powder within and make it difficult to discharge. Occasionally set the extinguisher upright and hit it about with the mallet to keep the powder from compacting. (27 years in the fire service). C4YT

Hey Zach, that air cleaner on the peterbilt is notorious for letting unfiltered air get around the seal on the filter from the plastic housing warping over time. Next time you pull it out, check for dust on the clean side of the air box. We have replaced and rebuilt several engines at the pete dealer I work at because of that air cleaner box. Its honesly just as cheap to buy the whole box with a filter in it as it is just the filter.

The blowing out of the filter doesn't bother me but the seal on that filter gets smashed down by the way it clamps in that box and the box warping on top of it. Its a recipe for a huge bill. Especially with that truck having a paccar in it.
I think it’s really good that you make videos like these because most folks don’t realize the amount of time and money that goes into maintenance and repair of farm machinery.
as a career firefighter in indiana where corn and beans are also prominent and the way the harvest season has been extremely dry with numerous fires already taken crop away from farmers im so glad to see you guys taking the necessary steps to prevent a fire from spreading and causing damage and loss. thank you for always trying to stay a step ahead in these dry times zach!

Telling it how it is with filters, etc. I am not a farmer (unfortunately) but thankfully grew up with a father that taught me how to mechanically... and critically think think for myself. At the same time I learned to respect other people's perception of reality w/o being too condescending. You're doing a wonderful job being you and being a productive and critical thinking individual. Which is why you are doing so well in life!
I love the whole blowing out the filter segment. Your 100% ok to do this for an amount of time. Work in a professional diesel shop with alot of farm trucks, concrete, milk, trucks, ie you name it coming thru and we do this often with filters. Saves money for the owners and renews the filter for more use.
It’s amazing how well a 12’ disk works for controlling a field fire. The speed that you gain from a 12’ or 10’ disk compared to 20’ plus piece is a big game changer.The thing to watch is on windy day the roller baskets on VT, can kick embers up. Just a little personal experience this year
I was taught to use no more than 40psi blowing out an air filter. It takes longer but still effective. Some people never had a problem and some I’ve heard wear out engines prematurely using full psi.
I have never bought my self a new filter. I just blow them with air compressor and I am still living and nothing bad has happened. Lol. Thanks for the great videos!
Great to see Jim getting stuck in. Good to see you’re prepared for any field fires, with the ripper on standby in the field. As others have said, add a 1000 litre water tank with pump to your chaser bin too. Fires get a hold very quickly and time is of the essence. 🇬🇧🚜👍

A stair is made up of stringers and treads with an easy to walk slope, like what is usually used inside buildings between floors. A typical ladder is made up of rails and rungs and is used to go up the side of a building with little or no slope.

Pressurized water extinguishers with class A foam and an aspirating nozzle are far more effective for vegetation fires. I carried one in my command pick up. Just a suggestion.

Here is and interesting idea for the grain dryer dust. Take that fancy new mower and use the grass bagging system to suck up the grain dust instead of shoveling it. Try it if it works there will be a lot less sore backs in your future!

One of the other TH-cam channels kept their spray tender full of water more to help fight a fire at the ben site & farm. Rural fire trucks have a limited amount of water they can carry

In east Central Illinois several field fires, they don't give follow up on cause , only said one was 80 acres not if harvested or not. Has closed interstate 74 for smoke. Glad you are safe
We farm south of you guys and one of our neighbors was spreading manure and a rock hit one of the beaters and there was a fire a mile away from our yard. If I remember correctly there was 12 different fire departments out there. This was oct 17th.

Off topic, whatever happened to the podcast? I have severe memory issues from brain cancer a few years ago. So about every 2 months go thru and listen to them all over again.
I always have a tillage tool hooked up ready to go for fire emergencies but this year I didn't run the combine on 2 high risk days just for added safety.
Custom combine operator for a few years. We blew out air filters out twice a day. Did so much damage that we had to replace the combines every week or so. 😝

Air cleaner filters are very pricey to not clean out to get some economical value out of them especially on bigger displacement motors , and they have a secondary filter after we trash the primary filter anyway by using the air compressor on them 👍🤞

You need water extinguishers for organics, especially on the equipment! The steam produced from the water helps extinguish the fire. You still need dry chemical for engine, electrical, or any flammable liquid. Dry chemical is corrosive so clean it up quick. I would have twice as many water extinguishers to dry chemical.
Never hurts to take fire control into your own hands. Have a 500 gal tank with a pump handy and a disk ready to go to plow lines. Much cheaper to be prepared than to lose crops. Also, keep a water fire extinguisher on the combine. Dry chemical extinguishers suck.

A set of stairs contains an x number of steps. Each “step” you take, brings you closer to the top of the stairs.
Besides below.... steps are usually used for outside locations while stairs are for indoor structures

OMG i've been blowing out filters for nearly 60 yrs. and haven't had a problem yet. I do replace them after a few times but still no problems.
