Yay! Glad you're making content again! I really depended on your history and lore videos as my kid and I worked through HZD.
Eager for similar lore/history for HFW - so many unanswered questions!

You guys should do a short lore video on the paintings inside of Tilda van der Meer's vault sometime. It was really clever how the developers used these real-world works of Dutch art to examine the more "abstract" parts of Tilda's personality. Since being manipulative is one of Tilda's core traits in game, we need to take everything she tells us with a grain of salt.

I was watching a developer presentation from years ago, and the animator for Guerilla mentioned he used an Ostrich of all things for inspiration 🤣👏🏼 (that’s for it’s movements at least)

I like to think that transport machines go to aquisition sites and collect the materials. After that they will go to a cauldron deliver the materials and the loop restarts

RSQ, just in case you're interested and possibly have the time to check it out, I think you might enjoy watching "To Be or Not To Be Bionic" on the World Science Festival's TH-cam channel. It's a panel of top scientists and engineers in the field talking about the future of AI. The entire time I'm watching it I couldn't stop thinking about GAIA, CYAN, and Vast Silver, and what happened in the world of Horizon with the regulation and legislation put forth on the robotics and AI industries. They talk about trying to understand the implications of such technologies, and anticipate what could happen by looking at fictional narratives and worlds around today. I was totally expecting one of them to mention Horizon as an example of one of these fictional worlds to learn from. Of course, they didn't. But still, I couldn't get Horizon out of my head. lol If you do have the time, and I will not be offended you do not, I think you might see it the same way.

      @@addisonwelsh Perfect.
      Also, you and me both.
I've been digging up lore about Dark Souls to see how to deal with the story, and it's been....humbling. aside from quite a bit of new info, our Titan and Belos are almost exactly like villains in Dark Souls 3. 😀
I can't decide if that's a lucky or unlucky shot....
And also, it turns out burning in the Flame is alot more complicated than I thought. For one, you kinda have to choose to do it. To Link the Fire. Moreover, nonhuman beings can Link the Fire if they have a great enough wealth of both power and Souls to be defined as a Lord of Cinder. This would make the Collector something akin to the Soul of Cinder, an incarnation of Flame made up of those who sacrificed themselves to it as Lords.
I'm kinda confused about what to do with Collector now. There are Flames that fees only on Dark Soul ( like the Profaned Flame), but they are considered both cursed and eternal, unlike the First Flame which undergoes cycles of Light and Dark....
So if the Collector has been fed by Humanity all their life, then they may be inherently corrupt.
      Huh.
      Edit:
( This isn't really canon, but it's an idea I thought of.)
The Lord went towards his sanctum, preparing for a long night. The tablets he had ordered to be sent from the Queen's Bedchamber to his quarters yesterday were in relatively good condition, so he had to make use of his time and translate them, he thought. He'd already found much to ruminate on. Incantations for binding, illusion, control of the mind, alchemy, and more. Priceless information for his current predicament. Violently insane they may be, but the God who wrote them was wise indeed, he thought.
      He knocked, and was answered.
" My Lord! How was your day?"
Boc had grown quickly in the last few years. His body was longer and more bent, his muscles beginning to show under his uniform. Without it,anyone would mistake him for the mate of a Queen of his ilk, large and monstrous......
      But Boc had never changed.
"It was good enough. How's the fabric I told you to make for my....audience?"
" It's perfect, milord! Soft as silk, and yet nothing cuts through. My new tools have been a boon in this regard thanks to you, milord!"
He'd made sure of that, alright. And for good reason
" It is your skill that makes then shine, my fine seamster. Go get some rest, and send up the priest."
Boc was nervous at that. Couldn't blame him. Mortals didn't usually think of large, scary wolf people when imagining priests.
This priest in particular, however, was important. He was alive, literate and most importantly, capable of translation. He was pivotal to understanding the next few tablets.
      _
      "Welcome back."
      " Your Majesty ."
The Beastman uttered in the old tongue, his jewellery tinkling as he bowed slightly. Not of the highest rank, but high enough to matter.
      " Let us begin."
He picked a pot of ink, along with pen and paper, and the priest picked the first tablet and began to speak.
      -
"...... Commit to these steps to create a Golden One of suitable stature. If failed, the result would be a tarnished product of impure standing, though with great strength."
Arranaq turned to his Lord to find him frozen. He had been for the last few minutes, since he began detailing the last procedure within the third tablet.
For once, he had an idea why.
      " This isn't possible...."
" It is, your Highness. "
" It can't be. There has to be some sort of mistake-"
      " There isn't.
It does not make you any less in my eyes, your Highness, but you have to accept it."
      _
He had already suspected it. He'd seen the signs. Frequent cracks. Powerful attunement to incantations. His banishment in the first place.
" Our creature." They had said. The God had said.
( No. No. There has to be something wrong. There must be some mistranslation. These memories are false. They have to be. He can't possibly have been NOBODY-)
And yet he had no one. None of his kind knew him before. Not even Tiche and her ilk. No one called him kin. No one called him brother!
( " Brother", Blaidd said as his sword pierced his chest.)
But then, if it was true, then why?
      What purpose would he serve?
( " Queen Marika has high hopes for us" Gideon said, as if verbatim from her sacred mouth," that we continue to struggle. Unto Eternity.")
      " No."

@@alyseleem2692 Yeah, the Collector was always gonna be a hard thing to figure out. His power puts him on par with the likes of Radahn, yet he's also so juvenile and naive. King tricked him into saving the Boiling Isles with a pretty transparent lie.
Whatever flavor of god he is, wisdom wis clearly not included in his package.

    • @alyseleem2692

      @@addisonwelsh Yep.
      Soooo ...
Any ideas? Do we stick with the Soul of Cinder angle, or is too.....gritty?
One other thing is that the Collector, when bound, takes the form of some kind of shadow, which is odd in itself. What I am certain of,however, is that the civilisation of the Titan Trappers depended on him in some way, and that killing Titans was part of this purpose. Aside from that...
      We could only hope.
      Sooo....
Was that part about Confessor too weird? Like I said, it's just a thing I wrote at the moment for fun. His origins are to be kept unknown.

    • @addisonwelsh
      @addisonwelsh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@alyseleem2692 Honestly? I got nothing. The Collector is so... out there for a Soulsborn character. It's hard to say just what kind of origin would fit him.
Part of the problem is we don't really know a lot. All we know is that he's insanely powerful, and has the innocence of a child... and that's not necessarily a good thing. One of Belos subordinates describes him as a "child from the stars" but we've got no idea what that means.
And I'll admit, I had a little bit of trouble figuring out what that scene was about.
