Years ago, I was auditioning for music conservatory I believe at Carnegie Hall. Suddenly, I heard an angel playing and rushed to look over the balcony. Cameras were flashing, and du Pre and her husband were performing in the foyer. The music sounded as if it were coming from Heaven, and I knew I was in the presence of greatness. I shall never forget that moment.
Same reason, get my When the body say “no” which finally published in Ukrainian language, came here to see her. Beautiful musician so sad that she didn’t met her self in this life.
Saw Jackie in the Royal Festival Hall in 1972 just before she became ill. She was great. We were all in love with her . Love you Jackie. You were part of our lives !
There are 1000s of technically proficient musicians, but only a few who play with 'soul', that speak to our heart Jacqueline did this like few others😍😥
Jacqueline Du Pré was a genius musician born perhaps once in 500 years. Listening to her is being uplifted and mesmerised in a way no gifted musician in our time ever achieved.
Incredible! I’ve just discovered this extraordinary cellist and she is so passionate, emotional, innocent, gentle yet volcanic, all this feelings in 7 minutes. Amazing, just out of this world, sublime!
Oh you just got to know Jaqueline du Pré now? Then prepare yourself for one of the absolute biggest and most gifted musicians in the worlds historie. And prepare yourself -if that is possible -for a profound love-affair you will never overcome....
As a presenter of classical music and having followed Jacqueline since she began as a teenager; by the time she had to cease playing at just 28 years of age, due to her affliction, she was in my opinion, the world's greatest living cellist. When she performed with her then husband Daniel Barenboim on piano, they were a sublime duet. If she had lived and had more time to mature, she would have been today, absolutely the greatest Cellist.
Discovered this angel of the music one or two years ago.... Intense feeling immediatly ....conscious of a precious discovering ...this piece of Brahms didn't know.....unfortunately there is not a lot of performances of her because of the terrible illness....

Comme toujours chez Dupré, on a un pathos extrême avec un vibrato incroyable. Du Pré c’est la Callas du violoncelle. C’est troublant vibrant et inhumain.
Jacqueline Du Pre is the great musical prodigy she is for any musical piece. Jacqueline's genius makes Brahms' sonata vibrate , and enter one's heart to stay there for good. I knew nothing about this sonata, but Jacqueline's out-of-this-world rendering made me fall in love with it.
Beautiful Jackie playing cello. Extraordinary gift. Sadly her life was cut short by Multiple Sclerosis. It attacked her body and brain. Rest In Peace dear Jackie
THE GREATEST CELLIST OF HER GENERATION!... WHAT CAN I WROTE? LIFE IS SO STRANGE AND, SOMETIMES, LIFE IS SO CRUEL... SHE DIED SO YOUNG, WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (42 YEARS OLD)...PERHAPS, JUST PERHAPS, SHE IS "PLAYING WITH HER CELLO" AMONG STARS...
Cmon man. Brahms' first instrument as a child was cello. He knew how to write for it. Just because so many musicians don't play Brahms well doesn't mean Brahms wasn't one of the alltime great composers.
I've never been so stunned by a pizzicato segment... my god, what a legend. UGH! I wish I could have learned from her... then again she probably would have been just as scary as my German teacher. Lol.
@@senafan it’s a cello built by Francesco Goffriller in Udine, Italy in 1740. She used it instead of the Strad when playing chamber music with Barenboim … it was his preferred choice, apparently. @@MauiViolinist THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DOING WONDERFUL MUSIC !
Read about her in Gabor mate’s book when the body says no. Just had to look her up on TH-cam. Such exquisite talent in one person. She’s amazing.
Did the same.

Exactly what I'm doing, too!
Same thing, found out about her through his wonderful video. And me being curious, I simply had to look her up ♥️♥️♥️

Rest in peace brilliant Cellist, Jacqueline. You left us too early. Thanks for posting.

Absolutely that describes Jackie so well and the way the complement each other’s playing his soft touch on the piano absolutely beautiful 😢

There was something about her and her musical prowess which I haven't seen since. She was in my opinion totally unique.
Anyone who disputes life is cruel especially to good people, watch and listen to this performance then watch the movie Hilary and Jacqui.

Quel fabuleux couple de musiciens! Why is there here only the 2nd movement of the sonata? Is it possible to get the other ones?

Do you play a Davidov Stradivarius?
