They could do that because they employed interceptor's linked to the ailerons to stall the outboard portion of the wing giving positive roll control at low speed
@@c172215s Like I said, I don't really see any true stol action. I can do this in my 152. I'm not trying to be funny. The Helio can do so much more than what is shown in this video. That's all I'm saying.
Thank you @@scotabot7826 , you gave me quite a laugh. You can put your C-152 (empty weight ~1080lbs) in a crate, load it up into a H-295 (useful load ~1400lbs), and the Helio will still make a respectably short rough field take-off. That, and the C-152 has a useful load of half a pack of cigarettes and a loaf of bread. As you were.
@@beta1618 You are completely correct in everything you said. I don't argue any of those facts, but my original comment is still very true. All I said was, the Helio will do far more than what is shown in this video, and that it's not a great representation of what the airplane will really do, that's it. My comment was that a 152 can TO and land in the distance shown in this video, that's it!
@@scotabot7826 Yes, I completely agree with you that a H-295 is more capable than what is shown in this video - but to be fair, it is a different/difficult aircraft to fly well. Anyone can fly a Cessna well, not anyone can fly a Helio well. To operate a Helio to its full capability takes a very experienced HELIO pilot.
I love this airplane, very nice flying.
Never realized the flaps are nearly full-span on the Courier!

Love the music of that geared 480..reminiscent of a RR Merlin.
beautiful! thanks for sharing :D
Looks like he was having to hold it on the ground.
Great video, but wheres the stol action?
Huh?
