Using 16 toothpicks or matches arrange them to make 5 equal size squares. Ask that 2 toothpicks be moved and kept in the arrangement so that the arrangement will now features 4 equal size squares instead of 5.
it's not supposed to be entertainment, this is simply a solution to a puzzel. what were you expecting when you saw the title? would of taken me ages to work that one out myself!
the first shape(five squares)has 12 sides to it..all he did was make the corners touch so that there wasn't a single toothpick doing the job of two sides..four squares(16 sides) Simple.
to solve stuff like this you have to count the sticks first (in this case 16) count the squares (5) and know how many squares is required (4). normally, when you draw seperated squares, they'd have 4 lines each, how could 5 have 16 and not 20? well, they're sharing them. 4 seperate ones need 16, so the squares here would be seperate. simple as fuck.

We had to do this in 6th grade, it was pretty hard then...
isn't it just four squares coming together making one...two upper halves of a square, two bottom halves, which make one square.
