Luckily, most of the time I look into the intersection even if I have a green light. This time we were stuck in the intersection so the lights switched before we could leave. When the road cleared, I checked for traffic. The police didn't. (By the way, nobody was injured seriously)

One thing I did like from this unfortunate accident is that all parties were calm and collected. Not yelling or blaming each other but just checking on each other and showing how to be a decent, caring and thoughtful human being.

Being certain of compensation does that to people. In the US, the cops would search the prius to try to find something to avoid having to pay. In a developing country, either the cops would intimidate the prius driver and he would take the loss or the government would take 20 years to pay him.

It was nice to see everyone so humane and calm after the crash. Noone was ready to start a fight. Everyone was just checking to make sure others are ok.

Usually that's how any accident I've seen or been in went so far. My uncle blew a tire on the interstate doing 85 once and his truck just went right off the road and into the garden rail and we slid about 200 feet sideways and were about to roll, and even though it was only our vehicle involved there were about five or ten people that stopped and asked if we were alright and how they could help, even when I rear ended someone they didn't care about the vehicle damages and checked on me first. Only ever had a confrontation once with a belligerent drunk lady trying to flee the scene without providing information and when the cops called her to come back to the scene she said "I'm busy and got better things to do" so they promptly issued a warrant for her arrest lol.

Well I mean it’s a crucial question that just about anybody would ask . It’s a must , if one of the victims is in critical condition and you have time to help them do so of course for the sake of that person and yours as well, now if it was your fault and the victim passed away then you might be in for some trouble .

It's a great thing to care about others, but if it was me I'd probably worry about hitting a police car
@N S with safety in mind, that's what those cars are made of. Not all but a number of "foreign" cars far exceed our safety standards. A simple example of this is mandating turn signal indicators be yellow instead of blinking red like the brake lights. It seems simple enough to distinguish between the two but if there happens to be a bulb out it can cause confusion in split second decisions.

Trying to weave across the street in between cars when there is a perfectly good pedestrian crossing right there. I first saw this clip on a “idiot drivers compilation”. This almost happened to me 2 days ago. Only difference that it was a loaded semi truck.
Also im a learner without a licence, well an experienced learner but still. If i was going any faster, reacted a little bit later or if he wouldve cut me off any later. I wouldve crashed into the side of a semi at 50-60kmh
Now the Toyota owner can finally fix that damage he already had, on the insurance company's expense 😀

Yeah well Im romanian and I really dont have a problem with native hungarians from hungarian land, salute to them. My problem is with ROMANIAN citizens claiming they are not romanian, and that they are hungarian. And whenever you want to talk to them, they say "eu ungur" and tell you they dont understand. And Im not romanian by race myself!! My ethnicity is Chilean, thats where my roots are, but I was born here, my nationality is romanian. I would ask them to take out their ID and put it besides mine, and ask them if they see a difference. The IDs look the same, it says RO on your ID, so whats with this bullshit that you re not from here? Read the name on my ID, it sounds like a straight up colombian or mexican name, and yet I represent RO. Look at USA, so many races yet you look at their military and you see asians and latinos and all kinds of ethnicities respect their homeland. You see koreans shout "USA!" and sing the anthem. On the other hand I go to Transilvania and they act like theyre deaf when asking them in romanian for a kurtos. It is just so emberassing going to a restaurant there and seeing a young lady at about 16 not knowing romanian and asking for her mother to take my order (her mother knowing the language only because of communist times when it wasnt a choice)

It's only later reality will kick in. I've been hit by a car once as a cyclist. It was only at low speed (I was doing 15 km/h, the car was just revving up from a junction) but the moment of impact made a huge deafening bang and I tumbled through the air. As, by some miracle, I was in complete peace when it happened I rolled on to my back and used my momentum to get back up. Than started touching my legs, arms, belly and back to check for possible problems, but couldn't find any. I escaped unharmed, but the huge bang sure gained a lot of attention from onlookers.
Picked up my bike, checked if it had damage, which I found none. AT THAT POINT.... When I got home about an hour later (I just continued cycling to the store I was supposed to go to anyways) and my mom said I had this relaxed look on my face and said I was involved in a collission, she immediately went to the shed. As she grew up in Amsterdam and has had more than one occassion of meeting a car in the wrong way as a cyclist, she did not believe my bike escaping this undamaged.
She took it out the shed and the look on her face said something like 'I told you so...'. The front-wheel had taken the impact and the frame was bent so much it had nearly broken the weld where the triangle meets the downward-handle bar assembly. The mudguard nearly interfered with the frame when taking a turn.
It was only then I started to realise how lucky I had got. Not only with the collission itself, but also that my bike had not disintegrated sometime later on.
You can clearly see his adrenaline is pumping by the way he looks in both directions in quick succession right after the accident.
Everyone is talking about the Toyota going too fast but my favorite part is when the scooter overtakes the blue car at very high speed.
Those pizzas could have possibly not been delivered.

I initially thought the red car was moving to fast. But when I watched a second time it appeared that it was probably a normal speed going through the intersection and the police officer just didn’t give him enough time to react. The fact that traffic going in the red drivers direction was light made a difference also and could have involved more.
I do agree with several comments that it was nice that level and calm heads appeared to prevail by all!

Wow, accident happens but being calm, is a choice. Love how they treat each other humanly as possible.
So. By looking at the footage, I can clearly see by the traffic lights everyone was doing wrong (including the police) except the toyota.
Traffic lights are green in the toyota's way. While the police car was opening the traffic and tried to join the toyota's way without even looking at the traffic lights and checking if there was someone coming.
So yeah first fault is from the traffic by blocking the intersection. But the police was pretty gta 5 AI brain there.
The mad analysis
They most likely did look but the Biker blocked the vision of the oncoming car creating an image where the road is clear.
And they had to clear the road, as the other cars to their left would move again.
I personally think that the traffic wich blocked the cops in the beginning also share a bit of the responsibility for this accident. But the Police car darting in so fast was also stupid, hell wait a bit and block traffic for some minutes more.

I also hate it when ppl enter intersections when the exit is clearly not clear, GREEN LIGHT DOESN’T MEAN GO.
I’m not sure what the law is where this accident took place but I think only the police would be put at fault for the crash, the other ppl are just dumb drivers.

Yea nah I think the police is still at fault, but it's the biggest example of an accident and human error.
And I know these chaps that block teh intersection. But lucky for me, I drive a Bike, and can fit in the gaps between cars. And if I can't, I'll revbomb the fuck out of them until they make room. :)

Person who probably died was the Police Girl (girls nails) on the passenger seat. She got the full hit in her site. Aortic transection possible. She got a lot of G-Force from 0-100%. Poor girl, didnt said anything or moved anymore after the accident :((

There was an emergency. I cant say exaclty for the uk but from what it looks like, he did ring his siren. Otherwise, I really don't know why the cop is trying to get through like that. Like for example, in canada, there was a recent law that passed saying how emergency vehicles aren't allowed to ring their horns and lights anymore because people complained about it being too bright and noisy... even in the morning. I could be wrong though for sure

The officer shouldn't have driven without being able to see oncoming traffic from the other side. The white and black cars plus the person on the bike were blocking his view. And yes, the Toyota was driving faster than everyone else but he had the green light and didn't expect anyone from the opposite traffic to pass through.

I've gotten into a similar accident unfortunately. I was crossing they two lanes of opposite driving traffic but I couldn't see traffic coming from the right I tried to inch my way forward but there was just no way I could see any traffic coming because my view was blocked from the the cars and I hit the car just like this. It was really embarrassing. We were both ok tho and the cop had a good laugh about it

Yes, you be aware of the danger, and prepare to slow, but to the Toyota there was no immediate cause to slow, until the police car pulled out, by that point had no time to react. The onus is on vehicles crossing to check it is safe.

In some countries the person who entered the intersection last has the right of way until he clears it. The police likely should of waited for the intersection to be clear. Also the truck did not want to block the crosswalk as pedestrians usually have the right of way before vehicles. The officers seems at fault on this one for trying to muscle through

Yes, this is true. At least in my country Sweden. It's called "blocking rule". This means that if you can't safely pass a green light at an intersection without certainty to cross it safely without blocking it, you can't pass, even if it's green. It can't become red while you're crossing. It also means you can't block pedestrian zebra crossings. I believe the same rule applies to most European counties as well. I believe the man and woman in the grey truck were trying to follow this rule to some extent because they knew it was red (became red while crossing) for them. Hence why she didn't want to cross the zebra crossing. Instead, she blocked the intersection. Which caused the accident due to blocking of the intersection and blocking the view.
To be honest I believe the real person at fault here is the grey truck. Because the truck blocked access and view of the intersection while being red. If you do this, technically it's the same as crossing a red. During the green light, you must be able to cross from the traffic light all the way to the other side while it's green.

That's why everybody should learn to anticipate so intersections don't get blocked. Even if it's green light for you but you see that queue is so long that you will block intersection, you should not go...very easy.
