My high school’s Alma Mater song is sung to this piece, from 1:38 through 2:55 : High in the hills of Habersham Silver and Blue our colors fly, Honored with love and loyalty Your name shall never, never die. Central O Monument of glory We love you more and more each day. Tears will flow when we leave these halls Central, your name shall never die. Very lovely piece overall. Apparently it’s been the same since it opened in 1970. We’ve got a 50 year anniversary celebration involving alumni coming up. It would be great if we could get a download of this recording!
Noah Eller it would be even better if your band could play it. I played 1st tenor saxophone in a community band in 2016 in Missouri. One of my favorite band pieces!
I played this in high school band around 1980. it was a blast to play then and it remains wonderful to hear again. Brings back a great time in my life. I don't like this version, however. It's been clipped. Not good.
This is slightly abridged (perhaps an easier adaptation of the original) but is well played, including a solid interpretation of Clifton Williams' phrasing indications. Bravo!
playing this in band. I'm second flute and I love the solo! I love the 7/4 section but it always trips us up. It's my favorite piece we are playing for the holiday concert. 😊😊
