നിലവില്‍ മരങ്ങളുള്ള ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തു കാട്‌ വളര്‍ത്താന്‍ പറ്റുമോ എന്ന ആശയത്തിനു ഈ വീഡിയോയിലൂടെ എം.ആര്‍.ഹരി മറുപടി പറയുന്നു. മരങ്ങളുടെ ചില്ലകള്‍ മാത്രം വെട്ടി പറമ്പില്‍ സൂര്യപ്രകാശം വീഴുമെന്നുറപ്പാക്കുക. അതിനുശേഷം ചാണകപ്പൊടിയും ചകരിച്ചോറും മണ്ണും ഉമിയും ഒക്കെ ചേര്‍ത്ത്‌ ഒരു മിശ്രതമുണ്ടാക്കി അതുപയോഗിച്ച്‌ പറമ്പില്‍ ഒരു ഉയര്‍ന്ന തട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി അതില്‍ വിവിധയിനം തൈകള്‍ നടുക. ഈ തൈകള്‍ വളര്‍ന്നുവരുമ്പോള്‍ കാടിന്റെ താഴെത്തെ നില ആയി നില്‌ക്കും. ചില്ലകള്‍ മുറിച്ചു മാറ്റിയ പഴയ വലിയ മരങ്ങളില്‍ പുതുതായി വരുന്ന ഇലകളും ചില്ലകളും ആ കാടിന്റെ മേല്‍ത്തട്ടായി മാറും.
In this video, M. R. Hari clears the doubt raised by many people as to whether a Miyawaki forest can be put up in a plot which already has trees. He suggests pruning the trees so that sunlight falls on the ground, preparing a raised mud platform in the clearing, by mixing cow dung and coir pith with the soil, and planting a variety of saplings. While fresh shoots that appear on the pruned trees will form the upper layer of the forest, the new plants will grow up to form the lower layer.
