Dr. Sten Ekberg I really love the concept of Keto and understand the benefits but I’m concerned because I want to be athletic and build muscle and I feel this can only be achieved by consuming a higher ratio of carbs - am I right?
Dr Ekberg, studies have shown that we make ketones when we exercise and that diabetic patients make more than control groups. it has been shown that being in ketosis increases brain function and a Dr during a naval study for diving showed that he can increase his time for holding his breath from 2 minutes to 4 without any training by just being in ketosis. Ketosis has been shown to increase the oxygen efficiency of the body. If i have correctly understood the body makes a switch to use another source of energy for cell function. If the body in the case of diabetes thinks that it is a good idea to make this switch because the oxygen supply is limited because of toxic overload, would this not explain the insulin resistance or high blood sugar levels because the body no longer uses normal fuel?
This is exactly how I did it just instinctively. Cut the processed foods, focus on whole foods, then… Cut the carbs. Throw in some intermittent fasting… Boom! 100 pounds of weight loss. I love it! Thank you Doctor Ekberg.
Not the case for me. I have to go down to 10 carbs a day and then two months later I might loose 4 lbs. better than nothing 😅 but yeah men can loose weight faster than women. It’s depressing at times. 😂
I have been doing keto for 3 years now and it is not a diet for me anymore. It became a way of right eating and life. My inflammation has been under control. I had a blood test a year ago and the doctor was really surprised how I lost about 20 pounds and cholesterol level was superb. She asked me how I did it. But she never heard of keto. How sad.
Congratulations Halfmoon Bay. That is sad that your doctor didn't know. You are right, a diet implies that you will get off it one day. Eating whole foods and not spiking insulin is the answer.
Ive been on Keto for 7 months and have lost 73 pounds. Having watched the movie, The Magic Pill, the Keto diet really made sense to me. It made cutting carbohydrates, second nature and easy to do. I do cheat here and there, but continue to drop weight like a rock! I feel awesome knowing that I am on my way to a healthy weight and lifestyle. Good luck to others on a similar journey!
Thank you Wortheverymile for sharing your story. That is great. I am so happy you have had such great results. How are you doing now? Have you gotten to your goal weight?
Dr. Sten Ekberg I have maintained basically for several months, but since December 1st, I’ve gone carnivore and have lost another 22 pounds. I still have a ways to go, but steadily going in the right direction. Kelly Hogan has really inspired me to go in this direction. Check her out!
Im so pleased with your achievement. I have been on a high fat diet but i may be eating some carbs without realising. Would yiu mind sharing what your meals are n what you snack on please If you don't mind
Saras Rajoo Like so many, I’m transitioning to carnivore. But while on keto, I found keto baked goods, such as muffins, pizza, bread, etc., sadly wanting. I finally came to forego all that mess, and when I want a muffin, just have the real thing. Every 6 months or so, it won’t kill you. Snacks were baked cheese crisps with dip, pork rinds, fat bombs, beef sticks, beef jerky, and occasionally low carb Atkins treats. I wish you well. Good luck!
I encourage anyone to give keto a try , provided you do your research into the effects it can have on some people that already have medical conditions. I started out at 330 lbs. First I cut out sodas , then seeet teas, then breads and pastas, I read labels and only eat minimally to zero processed foods, and by that I mean butter that we cant make yourself, bottles of coconut oil, etc. I feels so much better. Before, I was constantly inflamed and felt like total shit every day , literally every day. After eating this way , I rarely get inflamed at all , my legs arent heavy anymore , I have energy , I have a better mindset about my life, it's even helped me move on about my mom dying of cancer 8 months ago. Its helped me start to dig out of depression and the icing on the cake, I've lost 96 lbs in a about a years time. Now, I've lost a mixture of fat, some muscle and water , but this way of eating is about learning and doing what works for you. My mother brought me into this world and the least I could do to even begin to repay her is to try and live a healthy life and love myself. Please if anyone takes anything I've said to heart, please remember that you're health is worth fighting for.
Hi, I discovered your channel 3 weeks ago. My average glycemia the morning was 1.60/1.70 every day, with 2 pills of Melformine. My doctors said I will use injections of insuline very soon. Since I met your videos, that I learned each word from you, I started a Keto diet and fasting, following all your advices. After only 3 weeks, my insuline the morning is... 1.10/1.20. And I am losing weight... I want to thank you for all that and cannot also understand my family doctor that care more abour the consequences than the causes ... Thank ou a lot ! Dan
Just wanted to say thank you Dr Ekberg. I finally managed to stay on a diet and no longer crave cakes, chocolate and bread. I lost 20kg in 1.5 years with keto and intermittent fasting. And i can still concentrate at work (no more brain fog) which was another reason for stopping previous diets. 9 more kg to be a super-model, but it feels easy to do. So a big thank you! Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
I'm an Ekberg junkie and this is one if his best. I love the confidence he has while preaching to us. He is so right and he knows it and just hopes those who are listening will get it. And knows there is no hope for those that don't.
I don't measure my ketones, I been on my keto diet for 6 months now. I am very carb conscious eating very little carbs as possible. I am battling insulin resistance and I do monitor my blood sugar. After 6 months I am feeling a little better not going into a food coma like I was in the beginning. Thank you Doctor for the information. You have been very helpful to me, I will do keto for the rest of my life.
I find people won’t listen unless they are ready unfortunately because I have been trying to educate people on that myself and I’m hitting a wall so to speak..... lol
I only “measure” my carbs. I’m two lbs. from my goal weight: unimaginable! In three months! And so easy and fun! I started eating no-to-20 carbs/day now do from 30-50 a day. Thank you for changing my life. It. This way of eating seems never to get old. Love the food on this plan and big bonus: I can eat my favorite snack - cashew nuts!! They have so much fat I was always afraid of them. Also I love being able to use heavy cream in my coffee. But: I do eat berries every day; not enough to spike insulin and cravings, just a small amount with full fat yogurt and peanut butter, a lovely break-fast or desert. (Notice the dash between break and fast. I intermittent fast by simply not eating when not hungry and pushing the envelope so at the most I end up eating two meals a day). It’s about cutting back but eating rich. When you truly enjoy - not crave, cram or stuff - your food, you are satisfied longer.
Stem is and has changed my life with his message! I have shared with any who will listen. Only been following for just under a month and have already dropped 19 pounds and lowered my blood pressure from 140 / 90 to 130 / 81. Couldn’t be happier Thank you Sten
Thank you. I listen to you everyday. The weight is dropping off, i dont have desperate dizzy hunger pangs anymore and people say i look younger. It is encouraging to see someone who wants to help strangers, not for personal gain. The sad thing is how often people tell me about how cereals are healthy and my bulletproof coffee will give me a heart attack! Because you explain in a scientific way, i am able to answer. Love to you Dr Ekberg.
people have been brainwashed and are refusing to change their foodreligion(whole wheat is healthy and fat from butter and meat is going to give you a heart attack and kill you soon)Don't pay attention to much. A famous thinker has said only less then 10% of the population is open minded, so once someone put a program on their hard drive it stay's there untill they die. I couldn't believe this but my experience is the same. Any new info that doesn't follow most people 's script is erased
Dear Doc. For me, when I started Ketogenic living, I started by an initial fast period of 8 days. My greatest struggle was with addiction. I would love for you to do a presentation of the science of addiction and the power of sugar/carbs to destroy our health. Perhaps your whiteboard approach will help those of us that crave sugar. Thanks for these videos!
I am such a carboholic! Pasta, rice, etc - not so much sweets. I ache so much but it doesn’t stop me from feeding the craving. It’s like booze or drugs I suspect! It’s awful! When I cut the carbs, I drop the weight. Now at 53, it’s not so easy. I’ve cut it all out and 16:8 IF but it’s not working. My feet are killing me. I want to walk, but the pain is debilitating. Help!!!!!!!
@@kellyfitzpatrick7395 Hi Kelly. I'm in my 50s. My feet got to aching so badly that I quit playing golf completely. Went strict keto 21 months ago after a heart attack. Now, my feet do NOT ACHE. Nor do my hands. I now walk 5+ miles several times/week. I suspect what caused the aching was SUGAR - I used to drink lots of McDonald's 'sweet tea' - now I understand that that stuff is poison - loads of fructose. So maybe just stick with it, give it time, and cut out all the carbs/sugars (including all grain, which upon digestion breaks straight down into sugars).
Low carb and high fat diet have helped all my numbers - waist from 42 inches to 32 inches (not been 32 inch waist since I was 18, I’m now 53) and PSA falling back to a sensible number. Keto stops the cravings, I feel full for the first time in decades.
As type 1 diabetic in UK who is overweight and who has desperately followed every slimming advice / club going, this is just amazing info, the first healthcare professional who knows what they are talking about... I was told 30 years ago by my diabetic consultant to follow the Atkins diet.. my GP and diabetic nurses held up their hands in horror at this and said that will strain my kidney as Atkins was getting a bad press at the time , I even went on a DAPHNE course where carbs were pushed in conjunction with the insulin I had to use... thank you so much x
Love your videos! So informative. They answer so many of my questions. Just started one month ago and still learning so far I am down 14 lbs and feel 15 years younger. I am 75. This way of eating is probably saving my life. Thanks so much
I'm down to almost zero carbs..I feel AMAZING! LIFE IS GOOD! Thank you Dr. Ekberg, for effectively communicating how real food works to keep our mean body machine healthy..
I agree with Carol, what Dr Ekberg is doing the clarity and the non condemning approach is just wonderful. I have followed Keto and lately IF for 4 months now. We have both lost a lot of weight without great difficulty. Feeling great the journey continues. Thank you Dr Ekberg. Lars from Denmark
Thanks again Doc. I have been following your recommendations for 9 weeks, I have lost 19 pounds 😁 I did jump into keto a little too quickly and experienced the keto flu , but it's subsiding and I'm doing great.
Love the Keto approach, reversed my type 2 diabetes and lost 15 lbs as a side effect No more snacks in the middle of the night Break fast is 2 cups of black coffee , occasional cream Twice a week a big omelette with tomatoes, mushroom, bell peppers. ,bacon Lunch. A big glass of coconut milk with cinnamon and apple cider vinegar Dinner follow the Keto recommendations So far so good feel much better !!!! I also added Berberine as a supplement 1500 Mgram and helps a lot My 2 cents
My biggest difficulty is that I am very averse to macro tracking (I have done too many diets in the past). I am balancing more with OMAD but I am still eating a lot more good fats now than ever before :) after understanding that, it has felt liberating to be able to use butter again without guilt.
Research shows the key is consistency over at least a year. Studies show little difference after a year between a low fat versus a low carb strategy. I have decided to do both. I am eating a reasonable amount of complex carbs, keeping fat at reasonable levels, plenty of veg, no processed food or simple carbs, fasting, exercising, lots of water. A couple of drinks once or twice a week. I am a month in, 2 kilos down, eleven months and 8 kg to go.
ThNks for sharing this, dr ! Me & hubby are feeling great after we chose to say goodby to white rice, even when it's our main staples here. we"ve been going on keto for one week now, including cutting back on white breads, all types of white flour and some condiments, like k etchup, chilli sauce, soysauce, bbqsauce, etc. What we' re still woorking on is cutting back on fruit thatvwe💟, such🍌, ppaya, mango,🍋, coz they're affordable n easy to.find at where I live. Berries don't grow here, except strawberrie, but they're still too pricy for us,As a couple of 50+ Our goal is more to stay healthy in the long run . Greetings from.Indonesia 🙋♀️🇮🇩🌷
I was invited for Dinner yesterday. Served was low fat and medium to high carb. After the meal I didn't feel satisfied. Still felt hungry even with a decent amount of food. And my weight increased too quite significantly over night. So now I am fasting for 24 hours, to then go back to Keto as fast as possible. First time of my life I am literally craving fat. Never thought that would happen. Lots of Crème Fraîche and Butter for me tonight :)
Dear Dr. Ekberg I would like to thank you very much, by listening to your programs, I have changed my life for better. I have diabetic type 2 from 2005, I always used to take two pills every day, from few months ago, by controlling my food and going to practicaly less than 10 grams of carbs and high proteing and fat diet, i take no more diabetic pils and my blood sugar level is around 120 mg/dl, sometimes 135 and sometimes 90. Thank you for changing my life for better. Kind regards.🙏
Thanks. I started to watch these videos and started to follow the ideas promoted here. I was 21 stone. I engaged in binge eating. I have steadily lost weight and stopped craving. After years of trying, I am loosing weight without trying! Guess what? I love my food! I suddenly don’t over eat, I can ignore sugary food just like I can ignore cigarettes. I feel brilliant!!! Thank you so much for really helping me.
With intermittent fasting, carb reduction and moderate exercise I have lost 10 kgs in about 7 months, mostly in the last 3 months after watching your various videos. And my blood sugar is very much under control.
I always learned alot from your videos. Ketogenic and intermittents diet was a big discovery from your chanel . I am keto since 3 months and i never felt so good before. I am not ready to go back with my old diet ( high in carbs ). I got rid of my osteoarthritis and chronic pain. i combining OMAD and ketogenic diet is very effective. Thanks alot Dr. Ekberg. Hope to see more videos from you. Take care ❤
Dr ekberg, you inspired me to go keto after having issues with acne, cognition, and sex drive after years of low fat dieting. Now almost 7 weeks into the keto diet, I am at a point where I’m starting to question whether this diet is suitable for me. Im still some experiencing palpitations even tho I’m supplementing with potassium and sodium religiously. They helped but not 100%. I’m also having problems with sleepiness after meals, and strength loss even tho my carbs are very low. My carbs are at 30 grams net, and I have cut out all nuts seeds and dairy. I eat mostly beef, ghee coconut oil and cruciferous veggies. And keep my protein at a very moderate level. (80g/day) What can possibly be wrong. Although I was drawn to keto for the health benefits which I’m experiencing some like clearer skin and better cognition, I never imagined it would come with these side effects. The burning question is: am I not adapting or is this diet just not fit for me?
Wow lots of keto tips in this one. There is a video suggestion next to this one that talks about liver and kidney damage, but that is exactly why your info is so good. You focus on how to do things in a healthy way. Keep them coming!
Thank you. Our goal is to spread the word about how to get healthy and live a long and vital life. Thank you for helping the channel grow, so we can help get more people healthy.
Im sitting here at 9 in the morning "Midsommarafton" drinking coffee with cookies , will go to grocery soon and I will start first ever keto diet on Monday on a homevacation.
Keto is great for wellbeing and using a new energy source. I've lost 60lbs in 4 months and am nit depressed anymore. I have better blood pressure and sleep better. Highly recommend if you feel you have the discipline.
thank you dr. Ekberg! You are making keto diets so easy to follow! I love learning about how things work in our bodies- you are a very good teacher- God Bless
Finally after watching countless videos in other channels, getting more and more confused, you've managed to distill a lot of information in a short amount of words, lol! Thank you - now it makes sense to me and I should be more successful now.
Thank you SuLebo215. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it. The purpose of my channel is to explain things better than other channels and help people understand the principles. Comments like yours makes it all worthwhile.
Thank you muhammad iqbal. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it. The purpose of my channel is to explain things better than other channels and help people understand the principles. Comments like yours makes it all worthwhile.
The part I didn’t hear when I started keto 6 months ago was the difference between carbs and different vegetables. There is a big difference. I was keeping my carbs to 20 carbs and counting everything I ate. Therefore I was not getting a lot of vegetables because I wasn’t learning how to utilize the low carb veggies. All I read was eating all these replacement Keto deserts and breads and muffins etc. And trying to figure out how they ate those things and kept their carbs down. Eating of vegetables was not mentioned, and when they were, it was said that they were not needed. I have just recently found the right people to listen to and have started eating cups and cups of good greens and guess what, more food and weight loss to boot. Hopefully in weeks to come my health will be significantly better. Thanks for your information. I have quite a few videos to catch up on, but thanks for them all.
I'm 400lbs and just starting this journey this month (June 2020). I hope i see all the successes everyone is talking about in the comments. I've been in this body for a very long time and I'm ready for a lifestyle change. I want to live....
@@Tiffani- Well, so much has happened since I made this post. I ended up losing 62lbs total. In September, most of my coworkers were laid off and I had to take on my responsibility which added on stress and ended my weight loss. I ended up gaining back 15 more pounds. I decided to restart this month. New journey starts now! This is very very hard!
Could you give some examples of the best, clean proteins to eat on the OMAD plan? Especially for those whom don't wish to consume meat or fish. I have been doing the OMAD for 16 days strong now and loving it, but I only lost a bit of weight. Please give a good example. I am guessing, 1 or 2 avocados, 2 to 4 eggs, possibly fried in coconut oil or some other healthy oil, 2 Litres H2O, especially with lemon, a nice salad without starchy veggies and healthy home made dressing. I don't know what else. Thanks with blessings. Love your videos.
Hi Mr Eckberg. I enjoy listining to you because you explain everything so clear and that i understand everything. Thank you and more power. Looking forward for more of your videos. Stay safe. Yours, avid fan😇
4:35 what you say here somehow contradicts with the idea of prolonged fasting, or not? in other videos you explain prolonged fasting and how it is good for health, and in some sense you starve in this fasting method but it is also experienced that the body protests for 3 days or so, and after that days the body does not feel hungry anymore so how does those contradictive statements fit together?, perhaps in the way that prolonged fasting has a time limit whereas ketogenic diet could on principle be done lifelong?
Thank you Dr. Ekberg for explaining the correct way to a healthier and stronger person. I am much healthier because of your information on the keto diet
*It's great to have a clear and comprehensive guide on following a keto lifestyle. Thanks for sharing these valuable tips and strategies for success* 🙂
I train weights fasted 6 mornings a week and do 16:8 IF.......I am 49 years young and train to be lean and body sculpting, i eat 3 hi fat and protein and non starchy vegetables meals a day and do not get hungry but i do a carb re feed every 72 hours, say oats or sweet potato or rice etc but i cannot eat them after training in the morning as i feel sleepy, lethargic and have brain fog , whereas if i eat them in the evening i find it better as the serotonin helps with sleep, if i don't have a carb meal every so often my muscles start looking flat and feel very weak , my training energy suffers, i have mct oil as energy with protein and fats and veggies the other times and feel much more alert and energetic......the only compromise is i need essential amino acids before and after training if training fasted early morning which i do. Also need glucose for thyroid and brain function.
How do we check the keto in urine, blood, or breath can you do a video on that or respond to this message please. I love your program I'm learning so much. Thank you Mary
I just want to thank you 😊 you changed my life everything you say makes so much sense. Can you make a video on breathing during exercise, I been seeing videos on breathing only thru the nose during exercising and proper way to breath when lifting weights. I would only listen to you. My favorite new doctor.🤗
I love also this doctor. I try for a while his advices, and is working great for me Thank you, you've been helping me , You have a great knowledge about the physiological mechanism our body works .and an attractive presentation
Dr. Sten Ekberg awe! More people need to know about you for sure! I'm only 18 and you have helped me a ton in becoming healthier. Wish i could be doing what you do. Lots of ❤️ from Canada!
I'd like to recommend (because it worked for me and it was EASY!!) is to first ADD to your diet, not remove. Add avocados, add cabbage, add nuts for snacks, for example, and do not go overboard! Then subtract all the things this good doctor recommends. I have lost 27 pounds over 5 months. Yes, slow, but steady. And, I am not counting macros... yet.
@@TH-camr-ep5xx Thank you! I credit Dr. Boz for the advice. (I don't recall which video, though.) And, to date, starting in February 2020, I've lost 37 pounds and still not counting macros.
Thank you for this video Dr. Ekberg. Can you post a video on the topic of cheat meals or cheat days in the midst of keto? Keto Cheat Day. Does it Destroy Your Progress? Is it easy for the body to get back on track?
Hello. I just read that eggs are a cause for inflammation. And you said 5 quality eggs a day have a ton of nutrients. I don’t know what to believe anymore. Do eggs cause inflammation? Please advise. Because I love eggs. 😊
Thank You Patti Fewer. Eggs do not cause inflammation unless you are allergic to them, or you do some stupid stunt like eating a hundred of them in a week like someone did recently. th-cam.com/video/aAC9xCinLnk/w-d-xo.html 😄
@@drekberg Thank you! That’s good to know and yeah don’t do that again lol. Meanwhile do you have a video on counting macros. Do you agree with counting macros. I have been searching for the best for for me and I love that idea it’s just hard getting started. :))
I'm new to Keto only being on it for 1 week now. I'm getting the hang of it and changing what I eat. The science you teach in your videos makes complete sense to me. I'm 280 pounds and my initial goal is 250. I just moved into the type 2 diabetes category so I'm serious about solving my insulin and weight problems. Question: Do you recommend taking Choline and Inositol to help the liver during the Keto process? Thanks
Yesterday, I was continuously testing presence of ketones in my urine with the test strips. It always showed me no or only a slight ketosis throughout the day. In late aftrenoon I finished my 48 hours fasting (drinking water only), eating an eggs omelette and later some nuts and blueberries. This morning I drank a glass of water and less than a liter of the green tea. Now, I went to urinate (after approximately 14 hours after my last meal) and tested my ketosis on this occasion. It showed me a dark violet to red color which means a strong ketosis. It's a real mystery.
Can we have seed bread. No flour. Seeds are walnuts, chia, flax, almonds along with good eggs with making seed crackers. What about ricotta with other cheeses? No chickpeas or making of a dip along with cold pressed olive or avocado oils.
Yeah I just realised today that my favourite Sundried tomatoes are soaked in vegetable oil in the jar. So I'm gonna start making my own and have it in organic extra virgin olive oil instead.
Whole idea is insulin and insulin resistance, really helps! High fat means lower insulin resistance! When going on keto the right way is to be in ketosis and this means not eating in a food surplus with to much fat, protein, or carbs, but rather in maintance with 70% fat 25% and 5% *ha, ha you said processed fats, "WILL KILL YOU." Though you can eat as much of the natural fats as you'd like. (yessss, like if you agree)
It’s unbelievable what I’ve been learning from you I’m a big fan I’m off your acknowledge and I’m trying to learn as much as I can and I’ve been doing it already for a week and I have cut down in many things do you have a book that we can learn everything that you say online or can you please guide me into it best regards
Ketosis is driven by grams, not ratios. A diet with 25g carbs, 125g protein, and 67g fat would be a 1200 calorie 50% fat diet and likely highly ketogenic and appropriate for many people on a diet. That same person may later lose weight and instead eat 25g carbs, 125g protein, 122g fat at 1700 calories and a 65% fat diet and continue to lose body fat more slowly. The lower calorie diet is slightly more ketogenic, as the additional dietary fat consumed later will contribute it's glycerol backbone along the way. In any event, blood ketone readings do not cause weight loss or gain. Many people with severe metabolic syndrome, long term obesity, or Type 2 Diabetes will discover that they cannot consume unlimited (non-starchy) vegetables and obtain ketosis. Dr. Atkins' research, recently confirmed by Dr, Volek suggests that these people may never be able to achieve nutritional if eating over 35g net carbs a day. Dr. Fung recently noted that he had a patient who could not achieve nutritional ketosis even after two weeks of complete fasting. YMMV.
Very good points. I focus on what works for most, but we are all different. That's whay it will always be a matter of trial and error. Try something and then gradually go even stricter until something shifts.
Great video thank you but I have a question I'm in the bodybuilding and would the 70% fat 30% protein work for me or would I need to keep my protein higher? Thank you
Very well said. I always get very valuable informations and guidance from your videos. I am doing keto diet with IF since 2 years. Now I am free from my long term diabetes by the grace of Allah. Your videos guide me in many ways. Thank you for your valuable guidance. These are very informative and very easy to understand. Thank you again. Keep it up.
Definitely it is saving life I have transformed my life style..to be in keto 4 years back Since then I feel so healthy I only visit doctor one or twice a year Can I ask for a favor 😊 Can you please do a video how can we start a healthy keto or paleo As I am taking care of my two grandkids 7years and 5 years....
Hi from New Zealand Dr Sten I love your clear videos and they have supported me to make many changes but I like to eat organic essene bread. This is made from sprouted organic ancestral whole grain wheat and rye and both are delicious with butter and great to put eggs on or to eat wIth soup. It has no yeast preservative oil sugar or salt and is not really cooked being slow baked at low temps into cakes and made with. The Rye has 28g of carb/100g and the wheat has 27g. Can I enjoy this without worrying about it putting up my Insulin?
Thank you Doctor If whole food supplements are taken outside of any proper meal, do they constitute a meal by themselves and be considered as such (a meal). I also supposed that it depends on the whole food supplement taken right ? So in a one meal a day diet... whole food supplements “have” to be taken with that only meal right ? ThanX again ✌️🥰✌️
i wanted much to do keto and tried but failed. Maybe this is an excuse but had hard time during keto application stage like assembling the right foods, finding places where to get them. That was really tough for me, because i needed be knowledgeable about the nutrition values of food products to shop and this is a process in itself, that takes time and penalizes my meagre wallet with the trial /error method. Figuring out the new eating style, i experimented few ways and wasn't satisfied. Finally doctor gave the verdict of high cholesterol demanding i either change md or take his prescribed statins. So in order to restart which i'd like need to change md and where to find one that aligns with what i want is an added hardship really...
I LOVE the bacon & eggs face - so hilarious. Dr Ekberg has a great sense of humor. His educational sessions are just excellent. Most grateful. The "politically correct" amount of fat .... again, hilarious, but SO, SO, SO, SO, SO ACCURATE!
I'm confused Dr Neil Bernard says its fat in the cells that makes us insulin resistant and he advocates very low fat intake. Keto says high fat low carb. Does eating high fat low carb make us more insulin resistant?
Most people who don't understand physiology, including doctors, get confused about cause and effect. The fat is the result of insulin not the cause of it. Here is a video that explains it in great detail... th-cam.com/video/xcQUghF2SKY/w-d-xo.html
50 grams of carbs seems like a lot to me now. I think I’m easily under 20, and that’s allowing myself 2 light beers a day. Speaking of beer, I used to hate light beer, total beer snob. My go to every day beer had 11 grams of carbs in a 12 oz can. I finally found a light beer with 3.2 that I actually like. Yingling Light (not a sponsor). I also didn’t do it gradually. One day I just quit eating carbs. I didn’t notice any weird side effects apart from the rapid weigh loss. But a month later after dropping 20lbs, it slowed down. So now I’m watching these videos to learn how to do it better since just cutting carbs isn’t enough
I love watching your video and following low carb diet. In 3 months, i could able to bring down Hba1c from 9.1 to 5.8. But my potassium level went up from 5.3 to 5.8 i think because of more leafy vegetables intake, avocado and cheese. Can you provide suggestions to lower my potassium and follows low carb diet? Thank you.
Keto diet works! I lost 4kg in 1 month! But one setback is that I have developed constipation... Dr Ekberg, can you explain how can we do Keto Right and avoid constipation?

If the body in the case of diabetes thinks that it is a good idea to make this switch because the oxygen supply is limited because of toxic overload, would this not explain the insulin resistance or high blood sugar levels because the body no longer uses normal fuel?
what about breastfeeding and keto?
This is exactly how I did it just instinctively. Cut the processed foods, focus on whole foods, then… Cut the carbs. Throw in some intermittent fasting… Boom! 100 pounds of weight loss. I love it! Thank you Doctor Ekberg.
Wow. Congrats!
Ken, what on earth did you do about the “turkey skin” you surely must have had. I am at 118 pounds lost and I am starting to see too much of it.

Awesome!! How long did it take to lose 100lbs??
Not the case for me. I have to go down to 10 carbs a day and then two months later I might loose 4 lbs. better than nothing 😅 but yeah men can loose weight faster than women. It’s depressing at times. 😂
I love this man. Wouldn't you just love him as a teacher/mentor/coach?
He is
Absolutely agree 🙌🏽
Yeah, he is a good doctor.
That’s what doctors are supposed to be
He is, here ! 😊
Absolutely.
He explains everything so well, without being patronising. He is very informative. Thank you Dr. Ekberg😁
Congrats!
Dan
congratulations!! i hope you're on your best game now 👊😁
Just wanted to say thank you Dr Ekberg.
You are like family doctor for millions of people on this planet..
My respects and salute for you sir..
It has been amazing this past 3weeks how low-carb has squelched a lifetime of raging cravings. Very grateful
I love keto, I really have to stop myself preaching to everyone about how great it is :)
It is a great way to eat if you do it the right way with whole healthy foods.
I find people won’t listen unless they are ready unfortunately because I have been trying to educate people on that myself and I’m hitting a wall so to speak..... lol
I’m new to keto @Pam Duthie and struggling but improving each week. Finding my fave recipes and foods.
Pam Duthie you just be the best version of yourself and all your friends and family will want to know your secret.
Pam Duthie , hahaha....
You sound like me . I even get upset when I hear how people eat and complain about lack of health.
Couldn’t be happier
Thank you Sten
Yes I agree. The good doctor still needs to make money off of his knowledge! Plz share with and refer his videos to others!🤗
The more I watch your videos, the better I understand keto. Thanks.
Thank you pamisjaming

You're welcome.
Thank you Dane. This is a great video idea. I have added it to my list.
Help!!!!!!!
Dane, you might check out the 'Carb Addiction Doc' here on youtube. Dr. Rob Cywes. He's all about addiction - nicotine, carbs....
Consultation and thank you for sharing.
Keto really worked for me. I've been doing it now for precisely for 6 months and have lost 36 pounds.
Congratulations! That is so awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Dr. Sten Ekberg thank you; but you are quite welcome
You are welcome Carole Gibson.
I love the way your video content is so simply explained. Very easy to understand and even your speech is so clear. Love these videos!

Love the Keto approach, reversed my type 2 diabetes and lost 15 lbs as a side effect
No more snacks in the middle of the night
Break fast is 2 cups of black coffee , occasional cream
Twice a week a big omelette with tomatoes, mushroom, bell peppers. ,bacon
Lunch. A big glass of coconut milk with cinnamon and apple cider vinegar
Dinner follow the Keto recommendations
So far so good feel much better !!!!
I also added Berberine as a supplement 1500 Mgram and helps a lot
My 2 cents
Sir, you are a masterpiece, to me a superhero, the way you explain things love you for all your healthy information.
My biggest difficulty is that I am very averse to macro tracking (I have done too many diets in the past). I am balancing more with OMAD but I am still eating a lot more good fats now than ever before :) after understanding that, it has felt liberating to be able to use butter again without guilt.
Thank you Armando Miraglia. Macro tracking isn't that important. Just keep carbs low😄
Amen
I never eased into it. I just switched over straight away.
Me too, I didn’t have any side effects other than the rapid weight loss
same, hardcore under 20 grams right away, feeling ok!
Dear Dr. Ekberg
I would like to thank you very much, by listening to your programs, I have changed my life for better.

Thank you Dr. Ekberg! You are the best! Every thing you say is absolutely precious and valuable.
With intermittent fasting, carb reduction and moderate exercise I have lost 10 kgs in about 7 months, mostly in the last 3 months after watching your various videos.
And my blood sugar is very much under control.
Suger, white flour and refined oils are already removed from my way. Thanks a lot!
Take care ❤
I started IF two months ago . I feel great. But when I talk to other people and tell them how I feel . they think I m crazy 🤪
3 grams potassium and half a gram magnesium does it for me. Best to get it in your food rather than pills.
Wow lots of keto tips in this one. There is a video suggestion next to this one that talks about liver and kidney damage, but that is exactly why your info is so good. You focus on how to do things in a healthy way. Keep them coming!

Thank you for prompt response, Sir. I started Keto diet just two days ago and taking great benefits from your videos.
Wonderful video! Was on the lookout for something that explained the nuts and bolts of keto to a friend and this is it! Thank you!
Thanks for your information dr sten, after cutting sugar and carbs my life is more relaxed 😌 my body is happy

How is it going so far?
@@Tiffani- Well, so much has happened since I made this post. I ended up losing 62lbs total. In September, most of my coworkers were laid off and I had to take on my responsibility which added on stress and ended my weight loss. I ended up gaining back 15 more pounds. I decided to restart this month. New journey starts now! This is very very hard!
I like at the end you talked about bringing back some healthy carbs once meeting health/weight goals. We need to hear this 🤓
Could you give some examples of the best, clean proteins to eat on the OMAD plan? Especially for those whom don't wish to consume meat or fish. I have been doing the OMAD for 16 days strong now and loving it, but I only lost a bit of weight. Please give a good example.
I am guessing, 1 or 2 avocados, 2 to 4 eggs, possibly fried in coconut oil or some other healthy oil, 2 Litres H2O, especially with lemon, a nice salad without starchy veggies and healthy home made dressing. I don't know what else. Thanks with blessings. Love your videos.

Now for me it’s for life 💫✨🌟 the keto diet is alive style.....Thank you so much doctor
4:35 what you say here somehow contradicts with the idea of prolonged fasting, or not?
in other videos you explain prolonged fasting and how it is good for health, and in some sense you starve in this fasting method but it is also experienced that the body protests for 3 days or so, and after that days the body does not feel hungry anymore
so how does those contradictive statements fit together?, perhaps in the way that prolonged fasting has a time limit whereas ketogenic diet could on principle be done lifelong?
Thank you Dr. Ekberg for explaining the correct way to a healthier and stronger person. I am much healthier because of your information on the keto diet
Thank you so much for this!!!
Eat satisfying real food, lose the gut and and feel great. Thank you Dr Ekberg for the education 😊

I love the simple explanation and the gradual approach unlike other keto gurus ! No need for the keto flu if you go slow it’s much more sustainable !
How do you feel about all the carnivore pushing doctors ? They say vegetables are killing us 😂
I train weights fasted 6 mornings a week and do 16:8 IF.......I am 49 years young and train to be lean and body sculpting, i eat 3 hi fat and protein and non starchy vegetables meals a day and do not get hungry but i do a carb re feed every 72 hours, say oats or sweet potato or rice etc but i cannot eat them after training in the morning as i feel sleepy, lethargic and have brain fog , whereas if i eat them in the evening i find it better as the serotonin helps with sleep, if i don't have a carb meal every so often my muscles start looking flat and feel very weak , my training energy suffers, i have mct oil as energy with protein and fats and veggies the other times and feel much more alert and energetic......the only compromise is i need essential amino acids before and after training if training fasted early morning which i do. Also need glucose for thyroid and brain function.
How do we check the keto in urine,
blood, or breath can you do a video on that or respond to this message please. I love your program I'm learning so much.

You can do anything you want. It is so good that you are taking care of yourself now. Most people wait until something serious goes wrong.
And, I am not counting macros... yet.
That's a clever idea!

Thanks
have you kept up with it?!
Two weeks for me soon, seems to be going well so far.
Great video thank you but I have a question I'm in the bodybuilding and would the 70% fat 30% protein work for me or would I need to keep my protein higher? Thank you

Thank you Doctor
If whole food supplements are taken outside of any proper meal, do they constitute a meal by themselves and be considered as such (a meal).
I also supposed that it depends on the whole food supplement taken right ?
So in a one meal a day diet... whole food supplements “have” to be taken with that only meal right ?
ThanX again ✌️🥰✌️
Wow....CORRECT on all....Lifetime for me!
Healthy for me (emotionally, Spiritually, and Physically)😁
That is great! Keep it up, as I am sure you will.
i wanted much to do keto and tried but failed.
Thank you so much, doctor
