I consider myself above intermediate as a bassist but I consistently follow you to keep sharp and I frequently discover something that I missed on or forgot.I even joined Basslab plus and find it to be a fine practice regimen.I'm 65 and gigged for decades but upon retirement from my day job I'm trying to keep on top of things and totally believe this old dog's never too old to learn.

Hi Kev. I'm doing the same thing. I have you beat by a year, I'm 66 and use to gig years ago. I retired and making playing bass again a top priority. James and his lessons are a big help. I have the time now to polish up rough spots in my technique etc.. You are so right, it's never to late to learn. All my best.

Great lesson James, thank you. If anyone loves blues, I recommend James’ book ‘ The essential guide to blues bass guitar’.
I’ve had it about 4 months, still only half way through...! Good fun , better than being slumped in front of the tv. Cheers!

I'm a guitarist of 25+ years and this video is very very useful, I originally only dabbled with the bass out of necessity on a couple of occasions but have really developed a taste for it lately, I've developed a technique accidentally and I'm currently trying to work out what it is I'm doing style wise. It's a bit like in this video but simpler, I'd love to know what is Im doing as it must be a certain style I've accidentally worked out. I was hoping this video was going to be doing what I am but it's not, I do love this video and the general teaching style though, and now I've stumbled upon it I've subscribed and will be watching a lot more of the channel. Thank you!

@@ebassguitar I liked how you used the charts and demonstrated step by step how to incorporate the different patterns. Made it clear how to use them when playing with other musicians. Watched this on Friday and used the patterns at band practice the next day!
