PRO TIP: You can also use The Blues Box to get tough stains out of gig clothes, for sweat... and other fluids. 💦
What’s your favorite way to use The Blues Box around the house?

I use the "Funk" box in the living room, so I can tell people to "get the funk out", the "Rock" box in the bathroom, so I can tell people "Don't bother knocking, I'm busy rocking", the "Jazz" box in the kitchen so I can tell people "How do you like that for fusion food?" and of course I save my "blues" box for the boudoir. So I can tell people "Don't be confused, we're messing the blues."

omfg I just wanna say I love BassBuzz dude. A year ago I picked up the bass and this guy has either directly or indirectly taught me almost everything I know. Also just look at the way he makes these videos, it's insane. There's cool effects, humor, good explanation, tablature. I'm so glad he teaches bass and not like the saxophone or something, cuz otherwise we wouldn't have such an awesome teacher.

Josh, I have played piano for 50 years and graduated music college. I just fell in love with bass 2 years ago. Have become very proficient already and your lessons are such a helpful and breath of fresh air besides playing all my scales, chords, modes, etc. This lesson is very helpful for relaxing and jamming. I like how you show these bass lines in records and that you show the written music as well. Look forward to many more of your lessons...

Nice! "Blues Box" was the name of a radioshow in the 70s in Germany. I am born 1958...and play bass and guitar...also double bass, but, that has retired, have none.
The best way to play for me is: switch off the rationality...dare to play "wrong" notes...as bridges or somehow..just play! Make it "feel good"...You're on the right path.

This is great. Best on the internet for a "beginner" for sure. I've been "playing" bass for 40 years, mostly by ear. If I had this video back then I would probably be sooooo much better by now lol. In the band I was in we wrote our own lyrics & music because we couldn't play anyone else's!

  • @jimmybare3026

This is golden information for beginners and I'm willing to bet quite a few have been playing for years and have never been taught this technique. If a person looks at the fretboard the way I do, it's a huge combination lock. We can open it up to a point but how much better is it when someone hands you a working combination and you learn where your root notes are Now you can play along with other instruments and backing tracks. You can learn song after song but until you can jam in the correct key your not on the way to being a bonafide , complete musician no matter the instrument. Great lesson👍

This is probably my favorite bass channel(sorry @Davie504). A lot of good info, easy to follow, and entertaining. Thanks for doing what you do.

What an excellent tour of the different blues patterns, and I love how you named them! Also, those caveat warnings at the very end were hilarious.

thanks, you have a good teaching style. I am slowly learning how to understand music lingo; I have half dozen books on music theory for beginners that hurt my brain. these bite size videos with understandable definition of concepts I
can understand. Now things are making more sense and what are the meanings of these mysterious principles they speak of.

2:05 1= root, 5=fifth, 7 = flat seventh, 8= octave. That's the key (and for many only) information non-bass-guitar-players are looking for here.

Great lesson. Great shirt. Cakes 'I will survive' uses this exact formula in jazz format.
