Here in Ontario, Canada, 10-100 means bomb threat. Which I guess can also be true in case of a bathroom break depending on what you ate earlier.

My understanding is that 10-100 is “major emergency,” which has transmogrified into bathroom break over the years. Still better than 10-200. 😊

In the film industry, sometimes actors will use 10-1 and 10-2 for types of bathroom breaks when the tell the director where they are going. My sister who is a firefighter/short film director once answered 10-4 but the actor didn’t know what that meant! 😂

Officer 401 I am doing a ride along for a senior project, but i have to write a essay before I do the project. I decided to write it on ways to decrease animosity between police and the public. I would very much appreciate any suggestions or ways to accomplish this goal. Also, I think this would make a great video idea, where you could talk about why there is so much negativity towards police and share some of your personal experiences with us. keep up the good work and thanks for showing the world that there is still nice cops around.

There was a time in this country where police departments tried to align the 10 codes to avoid confusion...and as usual, some snowflake wanted to be special and jacked it all up...as a trucker, I used to monitor the radio to prevent boredom, also to provide assistance if I can...another driver and myself aided troopers boxing in a runner...but, these assholes held us up alongside the highway for 2 hours and caused me to miss my appointment...not enough to make me not help again, but if you have a place to be, realize that they can hold you up too...if you need a 10-100, keep that in mind...support those who help us...

At times when I hear over the radio 10-47 and 10-48 is receiving and giving information. 10-85 is on the way either Code 2 or code 3 10-97 at location or "97 In the area" 10-98 assignment complete. A lot the codes used for MVA is 11 like 11-85 tow need or if the Deputy is going to impound a vehicle

Here in Delaware County, PA, we don't usually use 10 codes or signal codes, usually just plain speech. But we do have our own "codes" if you want to call them that.
We have status checks, and this would be as an example, of being at a call for a number of minutes without further radio traffic, it would be "Delcom to 24-22, status check", then they may say "22...we're all 10-4". Likewise, if there is an injury a the scene, we may say "run a squad to this location". Also, if there is drug activity at a location, they would say, "24-22, 2100 Edgmont ave. for the act 64". Since a lot of dispatching is handled over the MDT, radio usage is a lot less that before. It can be quiet for almost an hour sometimes. if there is an altercation, they would say "there is a fight out at such and such location, or a large crowd:". In ALL of PA, a mental case is an Act 64, and an involuntary committal. There are BOLO's but they are called GRM's here in this county. Being next to Philadelphia, there is some sharing of codes. If there is gun play involved, they would say "shots fired",
But in Philly, a dead body is a 52-92. and an incident report is a 75-48. In Philly, a missing young child is a missing "tender age".

The only radio codes we really use in EMS are the ones that tell us what kind of call we're responding to. For example a Medical Alpha response would be non emergent, a Medical Charlie would be trauma, Medical Bravo would be just a regular unknown medical call, and so fourth. The worst thing to hear is "No Vitals" which means the pt is dead on scene prior to EMS arrival.
I wish we used more codes, or even 10 codes. Radio traffic is always busy where I work.

My towns PD uses plain English. They also don't have their own dispatch. This dispatch is county wide and my pd's on a channel with two other towns. Before the move to a "central" dispatch, every town had their own 10 codes and if they needed assistance from another department, the other department wouldn't know what their version of 10-48 means. Plain english was the easiest way for everyone.

This is awesome. In my department in Tennessee we don't use 10 codes...just plain language and signals.
Instead of 10-4 we use "check"
Signal 13 = Are you okay? (From dispatch to an officer every 15 minutes if on a call)
    Signal C - Shift Over
Signal W - Stolen Vehicle (used by dispatch to declare a vehicle stolen
    Signal B - Bomb
If we're initiating a traffic stop we'd just say "916 special Poplar and Germantown TN violator ABC-123 on a gray Ford focus"
And when we're going in/out of service we just say our radio number then in service or out of service.
Great video as always!! Awesome to see the differences in different states.

I owed a guy money once and between the time I borrowed the money and was ready to pay it back we fell out as friends for reasons independent of the loan.
I called the guy and said I had his money and because I didn't want him at my house I arranged to meet the guy at a near by parking lot.
I didn't realize it was a big deal until, not long after I met him I got pulled over.
The cop claimed he has seen me buy drugs. I told him he say me paying back a loan but this cop was 100% convinced he saw me buy drugs.
First he asked to search my car. When I said no, he brought in a dog. When the dog did not hit on my car he claimed probable cause and searched my car anyway. He spent 2 hours searching my car and my person and found nothing.
The police were mostly polite through this entire thing, but I was pretty upset, because the cop lied when he said he saw me by drugs. All he saw was me giving someone money. This is in no way illegal and I did not believe it constituted probably cause.
I wrote a letter to the boss cop explaining what had happened. I didn't want the cop to get into trouble, but for the police's protection, I thought they should more clearly define what constitutes probable cause.
This cop saw me give someone money then, without any additional evidence assumed *WHY* I gave the guy money.

In my city for bathroom it is signal c-18 and it is no longer used so the fto’s make the rookies think they are in a foot chase and make the rookies go on the radio and say “aggravated c-18” 😂

The 10 codes your dept uses is very similar to Texas 10 codes in my area

I live In Arkansas, In my Current Department we only use 97(on scene), 98(Off Scene). And that's it (Hospital Police). It's a few of the normal ones under 50 like 10-4, 10-12, 10-40 (En Route/Respond), 10-21, 10-17(Item Pickup), 10-42(Visitor) that my Hospital uses..... But In my Last Department I worked for was my City department here where I Live and 10-63 was Priority Traffic Only, 10-64 was Channel Cleared of Priority. Traffic Stops were 10-10. 97, and 98 was the normal arrive and leave. 10-100 is BUSY😂😂😂 10-80 was car chase. 10-70 was foot chase (we never said that, we just used to say "I GOT ONE RUNNING!!!!! START ME UNITS!) Ummmmmmm, Officer Emergency was 10-33, and 10-18. We didn't have a code for MEMS, we just used to say "Start MEMS and Rescue" We had Signals for Accidents Signal 9, and Signal 9I, and Signal 9IF. I'm sure I'm missing some but, that's the jist of it, our 10 codes, and signals are a bit different from others in the South so I've heard

Your 10code is almost identical to ours in Texas. (And yeah, if someone announces 100, the radio would be jacked up w/ funny deuce-droppin comments!

It's interesting to hear. I'm not a LEO yet but have done tons of ridealongs. Depts here use very few codes. There's code 4 and 6 (OK, and Busy). in Denver, Code 10 is lights and sirens, but that's different in other jurisdictions. It's interesting that there isn't some standard that all depts follow.

Georgia state has 3 different types of radio system. Conventional uhf conventional vhf and conventional 700mhz. Encrypted by apco25, but not trunked! They should reband to 800mhz put the 700s on interagency since they seem like high altitude towers and absolutely trunk for further encryption simplicity and to increase traffic for the system.

10 78 is like on a naval ship (I think it’s the same for all uk military) if someone shouts “still” everyone stops and stands still because it means somebody is about to get seriously injured or killed.
