I'm confident that this will be covered in a later video, but if I could pass along one nugget of knowledge about the police academy, it's to get in shape right now. We did PT every morning from 0600 to 0730 and we ran 3 miles on the first day of the academy. There's no building up to it or starting easy at the academy, you are expected to come in shape.
Every academy that I know of including mine, gives you a list of recommended physical fitness standards a few months before you actually attend, do not sleep on those.

I love this so much! I took the pellet b (law enforcement) entrance exam a couple days ago and I really hope I pass… I love to help people and if I could do this job without a weapon I would but I also know that in order to protect someone, I may need to do whatever is necessary to keep people safe. I don’t want to hurt anybody and tbh that should be every officers goal… I just wish to establish change in my community to bring peace, law and order, and justice to those whom have been wronged.

Great video, and extremely useful information! I'm a retiring military veteran who's considering a career in law enforcement, and though this video only refreshed my knowledge, it's invaluable to younger people who aren't too familiar with our government and laws.
I started my degree in Criminal Justice as a Recruiter and finished it eight years later as a Drill Sergeant, and one of the most memorable classes was Ethics and Discretion in CRJ. Some cops develop a superiority complex. They have the power of arrest, are authorized to carry a firearm even in state that make it difficult for a common citizen, and consider themselves the thin line between criminals and lawful society. If you're a member of the latter, crossing paths with an unethical or dishonest officer might result in you receiving the label of criminal. Similarly, some cops develop an "above the law" mentality, such as the Miami officer recklessly driving his patrol car when he was late to work, only to be pulled over by a Florida Highway Patrol officer, or down here in Baton Rouge a while back, an off-duty Baton Rouge officer who was pulled over by another BRPD officer. The latter was heading home in his marked vehicle and was passed by a pickup at dangerous speeds, so after a short while he initiated a traffic stop, despite being out of jurisdiction.
I picture the Academy to be a few things:
Boring but most important: criminal law, procedure, departmental policies, etc.
Fun and potentially life saving, but stuff we should all hope to never use: firearms familiarization/marksmanship, weapons retention and unarmed defense, less lethal, compliance, crowd control, etc.
Just plain fun, but not something that will be used often: evasive and pursuit driving measures.
I'll go back to watching Police Academy 4 now.

As an instructor at my local police academy there are a few things that I like to tell new recruits coming in, as well as things I learned from going through it myself. Shut up and keep your ears open. I had classmates who didn’t understand this concept, and thought he knew more than the instructors. Let’s just say it didn’t end well for the rest of us in PT.
While in the academy; and through your career for that matter, make sure you know the law for your state and stay up to date on new case law. The best officer is one who knows what they can and cannot do in a situation.
Lastly, take everything you learned in the academy and forget about the way “the book” wants you to do things. When you graduate the academy and start the FTO process, the way things are actually done can be significantly different than they are explained in the academy. When it comes to certain laws and scenarios, it’s not always black and white.
