    Got an updated review? I can't imagine the tiny electric fans being super durable being exposed to the elements.

    Seem like wiring it up to the battery tender plug would be way easier when riding around. Like a adapter clip that those use at the end of the fans cord. Just a simple idea for them.

    Nice videos Blockhead. I have a 2016 LRS. I've put both the Love Jugs and the Jaggs fan assisted oil cooler over a year ago. Really help cools the beast down. I must say though, I was a bit disappointed that you refrained from giving any head temps at the end of the ride. Safe riding bro.

    Certainly forced convection will shift far more heat than natural convection. Some of the university maths showed that an aggressive forced convection was shifting 15 times the heat transfer of natural convection. But do we not need 4 of them for BOTH sides of the motor? Although the oil temperature will be cooler as you are shifting more heat, your left side will be much cooler than the right. Good to see an owner sympathetic to cylinder head temperatures of a relative air-cooled motor. Respect!!

    I remember that harley used to make a fan with a chromed grill for that. I got a 9 inches universal fan just for testing. It worked for stop and go situations but in the open road it was blocking the air and engine ran hotter so i put that fan in my car instead to help a/c fan. Sportster runs vey hot too.

    So many connections on Harley wiring harnesses are the Deutsch DT or DTM (mini size) housings. The dealer can get you both the male and female ends you would need. Sites like wirecare.com and others can price those bits cheaper, but convenience at the millenia factory location is prolly worth it to you. Anyway, fabricating a Y-harness that breaks off into the older 4-pin connector (IGN PWR, GND, ACC PWR, brake) and another 6-pin (those original 4, plus CAN +/-) is easy enough and worth it for future use. Plus it keeps the bike's wiring neat and tidy.

    Bean looking at this product for a while. Not sure if I am upgrading to another bike when the end of model year incentives start. If so I will install on the New bike. Harley should do this from the factory. I have bean on rides where my exhaust side was just burning my inner thigh, in stop and go traffic. A Great idea.

    Is it more appealing based on region? You clearly have more hot days in Florida than I do in Ontario, Canada, for example.

    my thought initially is that the $350 starting price for these is a bit steep. theyre definitely useful im sure, but when you think about the fact its just 2 fans with corresponding mounts.... its kind of hard to justify that cost. Hopefully they can become mass produced eventually to be able to lower that cost

    i take it that with the 6 pin , that the 2 extra wires are meant for the ignition switch on start up so the fans will always be on
    , and not have to use the switch >.> . . . sounds like a headache.
    the double wrench extension is what my pappy taught me when i was 5 yrs old . it does an amazing job.
    with that bracket, the nuts.... are they crimped on the exterior of the nut to keep it from vibrating loose??? or does it have lock washers?
    kill switched from a car, ahaha funny .
    awsome video !!

    I can remember the days when Harley riders would eschew little, flat, black radiators between the downtubes as design blasphemy. Now mounting titty fans to prevent 2nd degree leg burns has become acceptable. My how times change.

    Years ago a friend and I were trying to figure how to use a cooling fan from an old Magna on my Ironhead, it was to large and would have to blow from front across to back cylinder which we felt would throw more heat to rear cylinder so we scrapped the idea.
    Now this idea looks solid plus the smaller ones don't look that bad on your bike. How are those working out so far?

    Bought a up to date technology motorcycle with water cooling, no sitting waiting to cool off!!

  • @Firestorm637
    @Firestorm637 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those are small fans for something the becomes much hotter than a computer. Plus your cooling only one side. A larger oil cooler or oil cooler would add oil volume as well as whole engine cooling vs unequal engine cooling. Harley needs to address these issues. I ride water cooled bikes and I do not expect them to overheat in any stop and go traffic. If it did that company would lose sales. Oil cooler most bang for the buck!

    • @akaredcrossbow
      @akaredcrossbow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why HD is dying because HD and technology don’t mix! HD needs to start building all motorcycles that are liquid/water cooled!

      When I had my 883, I didn't really have any problems with it getting too hot from what I remember, even in traffic. Larger engines produce more heat, so I really started to feel the heat while stuck in traffic with my Low Rider S. Depends on what you ride I think, but they do work for multiple Harley models if you're wanting to keep it cooler and have a lot of commuting in stop n' go.

      @BlockheadMoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not really. Comparatively, not having it would let the engine get really hot, which would cook my right leg, to the point it would be almost painful and having to hold it way away from the bike. Having been able to test this in crawling traffic recently at Daytona's Biketoberfest on the main strip on Sat night, having the Love Jugs on never let the engine get hot enough to get to that level of discomfort. From what I've experienced thus far, they really make a huge difference.

      Cool thanks. I certainly know the feeling of being too hot. I used to ride in shorts (ill-advised) in Phoenix. In traffic, the heat of the engine and the road combined would singe the hairs on my legs in the summer. Painful.

    My answer to heavy traffic in my city is lane splitting. Most harley guys are too scared for that. Ill glady pass them on my 48

    I have an 03 Heritage, 88 jugs cut to a 95. Here in Nebraska it heats up in summer in slow traffic. I'm considering a set of Love Jugs and an oil cooler, I have about $4000 in the motor. Any advice you'd like to offer?

      Buy a set and install em, you’ll thank your leg! They’re help a ton, couldn’t imagine having the bike without em
