Unreal Gordy, Deffo getting used to riding OP - your experience of riding steeper stuff is shining here, can tell your riding flatter trials with more confidence. Just keep swining back and forward with steep and flatter OP trails and you'll be riding like Loic Bruni in no time!
A really good place for off piste riding is Yair forest in the tweed valley. You are better than me and I can get down the red trails at Yair. If you go just make sure you stick to the red of piste trails instead of the blacks as they can get quite spicy.
a few of them start around where pikes teeth are, climbing higher than where the transfer section is. Others are over off the top where dannys park is from the top of windy bank road

I go to hamsterley but can never find the off pist trails, how do you find them?
i use strava maps, they highlight all the off piste stuff!
Just ask other riders, most people will point out the decent stuff. Some may even let you tag along.
