- Guys, I’m so happy! I finally figured out how to mix the PERFECT paint for a pendulum pour.

Pendulum pours are a ton of fun! It involves hanging a cup or bottle from a string and then letting the cup spiral around over your canvas. Today I’m spicing it up by brushing a gradient background before doing the pendulum portion.
An ideal pendulum paint is thin but viscous - it needs to hold itself together in a thin stream, rather than breaking into droplets. House paint is excellent for this, but I wanted the freedom to use all my tube paint colors! Here’s the recipe I tried today, which worked really well:
1 part paint
2 parts untinted gloss house paint (Behr deep base, like you’d use for a bloom pour)
2 parts floetrol
Water to thin
My pendulum colors were Primary Yellow and Phthalo Blue by Blick Studio Acrylics. For the last blue color, I added some white semigloss house paint to the Phthalo blue.
My background colors were Titanium White and Olive Green by Creative Inspirations, and Burnt Umber by Blick Studio Acrylics. I used them straight from the tube/bottle, without thinning them.

That's very cool! The end result reminds of the 'string art' we used to do in the 80's. Nice job! Let's see more of these! Thank you! ~Debra
Thank you!
Absolutely terrific. Now I want to try this
Thank you Linda! Good luck!
Good morning all 🎉
Hi Debbie!
Thank you for sharing 🎉
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Absolutely Intriguing and Awesome sauce for sure! The light blue oval really fit the entire painting upon with the dark blue and yellow oval even the fact it makes a pendulum shape wanna see your collaboration with David your doing next week can't wait to see
Thanks Alanna! Now that I’ve figured out the paint mixture I hope to do more of these…
Very cool!🎉
Thank you!
Men encantó tu arte en Pendulo👏🏻👏🏻🥰
Muchas gracias!
Very Cool indeed! Great job 👏 I’m rather surprised that the yellow and dark blue didn’t come together and mix into a green in any areas. I would love to see you do more of this!!
Thanks! Paints don’t normally blend unless they are mixed or agitated in some way. Simply dripping out over top of another color wouldn’t generally mix 😊
@@AnnaBlountArt thanks for the tip!
Anna this is so cool and I love the design. ❤❤❤
Thanks so much!
Sweet ❤❤❤
Thanks!
So so super cool, as you say. The one thing I would change is this brown colour. It is a bit imposing, thick, dark. I would try something more ocher.
Well personally I love that deep brown color, but yes there are lots of color combos that would look good!
17:10 Looking at the drop cloth gave me an idea. How about taking a large canvas angled underneath the smaller canvas so you can have two paintings in one? I think that would be pretty darn cool!
That’s an interesting thought! Though I’d rather place canvases on either end of the “target” canvas to catch the outer spirals, rather than have a large painting that misses the inner rectangle…
