I was stuck at the tuck planche for a full year and then in a month was suddenly able to hold the straddle for 4-5 seconds out of nowhere. I don't know what the fuck happened but i am proud of myself
I really like that you are honest by saying most of us aren’t going to achieve the planche because its the hard reality because its such a hard excercise Motivates me even more though ;)
A friend of mine is 192 and holds a clean full planche for good 3 seconds, it's not impossible at that height, he has some monster crazy shoulders and wrists tho and literally no legs compared to his upper body, but that's the cost of being tall and being able to achieve the planche.
@@kiddynamite4559 he doesn't really have a choice though, being that tall and having chicken legs is mostly genetic and he will have to spend at least a year and a half to build something there not to mention also gaining like 10 kilos at the very least for a noticable difference.
I started planche training this time last year, August of 2018. I trained it religiously for 2.5 months and at the end was able to hold a fairly nice advanced tuck on the ground for 10 seconds. I could tuck planche press to handstand as well. I stopped, and switched over to just weight training because I got discouraged I guess. Pair that with taking care of a new baby and I just lost sight of my goal. Now a year later, I'm almost 2 months back into planche training. This time, I'm sticking with it. I WILL achieve straddle and full planche. I'm now 31, about to have my second child and I'm more committed to this that I've ever been. I have modified my training to be specific for skills and thinks like aesthetics (that used to be very important to me) are now on the back burner. My goal now is to progress as fast as possible on the skills I really want. Planche, front lever, slow muscle up, etc. I have gotten slow muscle up and straddle front lever, so I have to clean those up. But with planche I'm just now getting past the point where I stopped a year ago. I am determined to planche, and I will not stop till I get it. It's hard to stay motivated week after week when the progress is minimal (or zero). I just have to keep plugging away and never give up. This video is great man, renewed my sense of commitment to this goal.
I understand you, bro... Sometimes the progress is like zero week after week.. But if you look the progress month by month you can get a little motivated ! When you think about to give up just ask yourself: Am I not finishing ? Am I stopping this right now ? :)

Training Planche requires a lot of discipline and self motivation. Every single planche workout is a big struggle. Planning planche intensity is very individual topic and should be addressed with great care. For instance, I used to train planche + front level 3 times a week. Now, I am trying a new format: planche + push ups, front level + pull ups each twice a week.
Micha Schulz aw because i was curious at what basic strength you started because a lot of people say you need a curtain number of reps before starting with planche and other statics
You should have a basic amount of strength for the most exercises to even beeing able to execute them. But since planche isn't equally hard for different people you can't tell a number =D
I always have pain in my right shoulder and both wrists when I tried to train planche, even with proper warm-up.. guess I'll never have it. On the bright side, front lever training is pain free and I already got my first 3 sec hold few weeks ago.
@@ilay829 It really depends on yourself. I'm 183cm tall and weight 80kg and still can't hold a full planche. I'm really strong though, Dips +80kg for 6 reps and pull ups +60 kg for 6 reps. You will never get the planche, if you just train it sometimes. You have to work frequently on it with patience over month or even years. I'm close to the full planche, maybe I will get it in 2 month.
I have always had the impression you need to have a carrot-like shape consisting of massive shoulders and tiny thin legs to be able to do this exercise. I have not made any progress in years which I attribute to my shoulders not being big enough despite lots of training, and my legs too bulky.
