Here is a data point in case someone might find it useful. I have a collection of 12 different beginner pens with nibs from Germany. I like them because I find the nibs very round, sturdy and reliable. Also I am amused by the kiddie aesthetic. I have formed opinions on 7 of them, the other 5 being unremarkable: RECOMMENDED Pelikan Pelikano jr - reliable and smooth Schneider EASYbuddy - nicely wet and extremely smooth. Lamy Nexx - pleasant. NOT RECOMMENDED Faber-Castell Scribolino - leaked, too wet. Herlitz Tornado - too dry Lamy ABC - awkward, too dry Rotring Primus - too fine Cheers
