Nott made for Canada. Three locks died. 1st one the touchscreen shorted out. 2nd one the lock would constantly beep like it was being touched. 3rd one on the garage jammed inside and bent internally. Do not recommend at all under 6 months old. only kfferes a return with a gift card as a reolacement.
Just got this installed today. I just wish it had WiFi (And smart assistant) capabilities because the app cannot connect to the lock when I'm not in the living room near the door. Heck, if it had the auto-unlock ability like the Wyze Lock that would be great.
so there is no key backup? what do you do if the battery dies and its locked? how do you get in? what is the backup bailout method so you can always get in as the homeowner?
Does anyone know the dimensions of the outside key pad and the inside box? Specs say L=7.3 W=5.3 D=2.3. But it doesn't specify inside or outside box. My door edge where the lock goes is only 5 inches.

Well I know this product has been out for a little while now. I just bought a house and will not be closing for a little while. I would like to start collecting Wyze gear so the day I move in I can set it all up. Tech gets out dated very fast or you update a product and its better then the first. Question I have is do you guys have any plans to roll out a new version of the lock say within 6months? I just don't want to buy something then have a new product come out before I even install it. Look at the Iphone, I hardly get to brake in my 13 before the 14 rolled out. Thank you.

What happens when you're out and the batteries die and the lock fails to operate? Not very useful when it doesn't let you keep your existing lock and keys like other smart locks. Sorry but as much as I appreciate Wyze products, it seems like they took a step back with this one.
It has a USB C port. I usually have a portable battery handy anyway ;> But it is a fair point, if you don't have a secondary access door this may not be the lock for you.

I like the idea of these things but so many homes have door frames that will swell with humidity that they don't reliably work without spending a lot more money to fix that problem when your conventional deadbolt will still work, just tightly.

Nothing could be more true. I've heard of people cutting door size holes thru the sides of homes for entry. If you live in a stick frame house. You have no way of truly securing it. So, since most people understand this, what is your point?
@@rickmann5227 some people were asking if the lock was good or secure enough and my point was it's only secure enough to the point somebody wants to break in you can have the strongest lock in the world if they want to get in they're going to get in they'll just break the window it's much easier than trying to break through a really good deadbolt. But I love the idea of this lock all you need is a fingerprint it's beautiful it's easy don't have to worry about keys I think it's a great idea it just sucks that we have to lock the house when I was a kid we didn't lock anything
I appreciate a lot of this technology. I do have some of the smart cameras and doorbells but these things are still easily hackable to the right people. I don't think that I am the kind of person that would have to worry about being hacked but I'm not interested in having a lock on my door that if someone could hack into the system could unlock my door. So I will stick with a traditional deadbolt myself
"...measure from the center of that hole to the edge of the door." As you are saying this you point first to the edge of the door. So your verbal direction is the exact opposite of your visual. To match them up, you should say it as ..."measure from the edge of the door to the center of the big hole." That is what the template picture shows.
Cry me a river my man. Did that really bother you? Is there a person in the world who wouldn't understand what to do? Those types of people don't install their own locks. Go check the edging on your neighbors grass. If it's not perfect and up to your standards, be sure to correct him and tell him why you are better.
you can use carpenter's tape or paint tape to hold the outside part in place during install so you can do it yourself with just a screwdriver.

Will it auto-lock? I know Wyze has its own infrastructure going but can I use it with Alexa?
Yes, to auto-lock, no to Alexa/Google. (Bluetooth)

Need options for peeps with double cylinder deadbolts
Exactly what I say everytime I see one of these. I have windows next to my front door and this just isn't secure enough for me.

U can also tape it onto the door.

The keypad will not fit the hole in my metal door.
I have a metal door as well, you can take a dermal tool and slightly shave the circle's edges enough so the wyze pops in

agreed, with the changing of the season, there is shifting of the frame, so sometimes it needs a hard nudge. I'll stick with old school key lock
Got two wiser lock for 5/6 years on older house (67 year old ) never had single issue other than changing batteries after 4/6 mo this depending on use
Don't see how this would be any different than a normal deadbolt in terms of performance in humidity
@@stephen_b With a regular deadbolt you just force the door a bit. This is supposed to be automatic and hands free.
Does this have wifi or only fingerprint?
Also how many fingerprints it can store?

But as noted above, it does have a USB C power port on the outside for the case where the lock is functional just out of power

No unfortunately. Bolt is a different size. None of these electronic locks work on 3 point in USA.

According to the video. They just used Duracell batteries. So depending on the use. I would suggest strong rechargeable batteries.
10-12 months
Always remember locks are for honest people ....if criminals want to get in it doesn't matter what lock you have.

wyze lock products assume no one has a deadbolt. this thing is even taller than the other wyze locks
