Hello from southern California Adam. Not gonna lie.....at 3:08 in I seriously thought you were gonna shoot that tiny lower gap in the trees and my heart stopped very briefly! LOL but seriously it did! Love the vid Adam and I very much enjoy every in-depth build vid you make brother! Very entertaining and efficient. Plus a very nice flying site for the eyes.
Thank you for the great feedback 😁👍🏻 and yea that gap is really tempting me and I will go through it soon, just not on a maiden 😅😅 I might try it with the mini Talon tonight 👌🏻cheers
😁 that wide angle lens makes it look higher right!? 🤪 how’re you getting on with your Talon? I’ll be interested to see if the cap helps with the current sensing like you said. Cheers
@@AdamGdoesFPV My Talon 250Gs has a lot of flights already. Did not fine tune the current sensor yet but it is pretty stable. I will go fly again tomorrow. I'm waiting for a friend to upload hischase footage of the last flight day then I will upload a new video.
Cheers David. Sadly the farmer decided to remove my permission to fly there recently, so expect a lot of videos from the mountains from now on 😁 Cheers
Great review. Amazed at the flight envelope speed range ... from ~32 kph to 100+ kph on 3s! Exceptional editing. Love the chase footage and how much good info you crammed in under 9:40 run time. Greet out-take with the sheep. Must be a TBS fan.
Yeah it's surprisingly good. I'll admit i'm not normally a fan of small planes below 1m wingspan but this has been the best so far! Thanks for the great feedback, I do try to get a lot into a small timeframe to keep it interesting to all. Haha yeah that sheep was brave, wouldn't leave us alone! He must have spotted the TBS antenna 😄Cheers 😁
The nose has a hole in the front for a camera. Although it needed a little cutting due to the double les on this FPV cam. Just pushed the camera in place form the inside and added a drop of glue to keep it there.
@Adam G does FPV yes thanks. I got given plane from friends and he gad a 3D printed reinforcement cage around battery compartment blocking off front camera spot. I then realized it was not stock.
Does a twin motor plane wobble less than a single motor plane? Can a flight controller use differential thrust to reduce wobble? Thanks so much for this video, great job!
Hi, thank, glad you liked it 😊 I don’t think using differential thrust would reduce wobble, but to be honest most planes with a tail don’t wobble anyway, unless they are really small and therefore less stable. Yaw wobble is more common in traditional style wings. Cheers
Great flights! Just finished mine. Did you have any up elevator trim before first launch? Are you using your inav launch settings from your previous videos?
Thanks 👍🏻 for the manual launch I had a little up trim on elevator but it wasn't really needed. Launch settings are: set nav_fw_launch_velocity = 150 set nav_fw_launch_max_angle = 180 set nav_fw_launch_thr = 1750 set nav_fw_launch_idle_thr = 1500 set nav_fw_launch_motor_delay = 0 set nav_fw_launch_timeout = 10000 set nav_fw_launch_climb_angle = 13
Fantastic flight Adam! I've asked you this before but I do not remember what you said. How do you operate your "Auto Trim"? Do you flip a switch to activate it or what? I am still learning the details of that type of mode. Thanks again! Happy flying!
Thanks 😃 Autotrim is activated exactly the same as a flight mode, but you enable it at the same time as flying in 'Acro' flight mode. It checks average servo positions for 2 seconds and sets new mid points to achieve straight flight. Land and disarm before turning Autotrim off and then new positions are saved. This is all changing in iNav 3.0 though!
Just don't solder the red pin onto the FC. The red wire is not to be connected to anything. Remember that the ESC is designed for old school setup where it provides the 5v power to the rx and servos. You do not want the ESC supplying power to an FC as the FC get's it direct from the battery
Nice video :-) I read a few reviews, many of them mentioned this is tail heavy, if go by the CG provided. Would you please share, are you using the official CG point, or any advice for a better takeoff experience? Thanks in advanced
Great video, been waiting for this. Why is this little Talon so hard to launch? iv been hearing some bad reports about it on take off? Also, how did you find that runcam hybrid? would you recommend it? cheers
It's really easy to launch... I had no issues in full manual or autolaunch so I'm not sure why some people had issues 🤷🏻♂️The Hybrid was a lot better on the FPV side than I thought it would be actually! For HD recording it was ok but I think I need to switch it to 4K to get a clearer image, in this video it was recording in 1080/60. I'd recommend it for planes like this for sure, but on larger planes I still prefer dedicated FPV cam and separate HD cam. Cheers
@@AdamGdoesFPV Ok thanks. And yes I totally agree on bigger planes. But for smaller stuff I'm guessing it would be fine. Keep up the good work brother..👍🏽
I bought the PNP version of this and I'm thinking to put just a regular receiver in it. Do you think it would be too sketchy without a flight controller for fpv.
Great video Adam, i thought about getting one and loading it up with li-ions ( like i did with my dart 250g on 4s) as a little mid range fpv platform. However it does look like it gets knocked about by the turbulence in your video, more so than a dart imo ?
Cheers mate. It gets knocked about in the turbulent wind when flying along the top of that hill for sure. If anything though I’d say it’s more stable than the Dart 250. Like I said, I wouldn’t enjoy flying it on windy days, but I’d say this has been my favourite small plane so far.
depends which battery you use. I was using a lipo which isn't the best for long range in a small plane but it gives a lot of punch and makes it fun to fly
In your opinion which one in this small category (450-650mm wingspan) is resisting wind the best and most stable? (considering using 2S1P or heavier 2S2P cruiser pack)
If the ones I’ve flown, probably this one. I still don’t fly planes this small very often as it’s only fun in very low wind. And even then I’d just prefer a larger heavier plane unless the situation calls for something small. Good luck 😃
Hi Adam, been following your videos for ages and wanted to ask for advice. Having experience with model flying I'm now super interested in getting into fpv but I'm a bit intimidated by getting started. Would it be OK to chat more to learn from you? Josh
Hi Josh, best thing to do is ask question in Facebook groups or RCGroups as you will get quicker and more detailed answers... but you are always welcome to post a question on one of my vids and I'll get back to you if i can help. Cheers :)
I’m not sure that the wing area would be considered too big. It’s just a light model and if there is gusty wind it will be impacted by it no matter the design. Good luck with your build though 👍🏻
Thanks Adam for this great informative video! When I have finished my Diatone 690mm Ripper FPW Wing Project I will buy and build the Talon 250 based on your video. What do you mean how much flight time is possible with it? 7 ah at full throttle certainly allows you to use a Li-ion battery? Maybe a 3S1P 18650 11.1V 3500mAh Li-ion? Best regards! Joschi aka 1ronm4n
Glad to hear it 😁 I think on my setup flight time could be 30-45mins maybe if I tried to be efficient. With a Li-ion I’m sure it could fly for an hour. Best thing to do is weigh your battery and compare it to the weight of my lipo (not sure in the weight of it but there’s a link in the desc. Where you can find that info). Good luck and enjoy 😊

no wonder why in my area they prefered quad than wings fpv, it feel shaky 😅
It's so small and light you have to expect it to be shaky in wind.
I bought the PNP version of this and I'm thinking to put just a regular receiver in it. Do you think it would be too sketchy without a flight controller for fpv.
As long as you don't go far and your comfortable in navigating your surroundings it will be fine without an FC 👍🏻
How would you compare this to the ZOHD Drift ?
Sorry I can’t compare as I don’t have a drift. However I’d guess the drift flies a lot slower and more like a floaty glider.

that wing area is quite large for 250 grams, maybe thats why its affected by wind so much.
or am I wrong? im planning on building a foam plane myself with about that wing area, with a calculated weight of 600grams.
I’m not sure that the wing area would be considered too big. It’s just a light model and if there is gusty wind it will be impacted by it no matter the design. Good luck with your build though 👍🏻

The sheep are well used to it here, a Talon 250g is tiny compared to what they normally see 😆
What 360 cam is on the big wing?
InstaOneR. Everything you need to know is in the video description where there is even a link to that 360cam 👍🏻 cheers
cameras may get broken at landong
