    A quick and simple guide and demo of how I configure use AutoLaunch in iNav. These settings with very minor adjustments have worked with a 100% success rate on 5 different models, which all varied in shape, size and weight. Both wings in this video are running iNav version 2.4.0

    Note: Please remember that these are the settings that have worked for me on many different planes/wings... but this doesn't mean they will be suitable for every plane out there. For further information on the LAUNCH mode parameters, please check out the iNav Wiki CLI page here: github.com/iNavFlight/inav/blob/master/docs/Settings.md do a cmd/ctrl + F and search the term "Launch". TIP: Go into the CLI tab on your configurator and type "get Launch" and it will display all of your current launch settings and the allowed value ranges. I understand there are many different ways we can and do use this mode and its mostly down to personal preference. I hope this guide helps you achieve easy stress free launching :)

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the ZCon's not the easiest to grab hold of and because of that it feels super heavy! Autolaunch makes it an easy job though now. I guess the timeout is just personal choice, i just felt 5 seconds was a bit too short. Cheers

      @@AdamGdoesFPV I wasn't able to re-arm. I was flying a C1 Chaser and gliding. I bumped the arm switch and tried to re-arm and nothing happened. I was over some trees next to a river and the only way I could get it to re-arm was to go into a dive over the river.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV

      Sam S but having auto launch always enabled caused you an issue re arming?

    • @sams9716
      @sams9716 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdamGdoesFPV Yup, when I disarmed it put it back into launch mode when I re-armed. The motor would not spin up. Once I put it into the dive I think it crossed acceleration needed to spin the motor for take off. After that it was fine and flew as normal. I wish I had the dvr from that flight but it was last fall/winter. Since then I have started putting launch mode on the momentary switch on my QX7 and it works good. Just hold the switch up, arm and then set the throttle position and then let go of the switch. If you arm but don't set the throttle position it will cancel launch mode.

    Awesome video! Well explained parameters. Say if my plane is quite heavy, can i adjust the launch so its already at full throttle before i throw it? I doubt my Sonic Modell Binary will glide quite as nicley out of my hand thats all.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm trying to setup a zohd dart 250 but my autolaunch just nosedives into the ground. The motor does spin up when I throw it but it just doesn't seem to move the servos. RTH and loiter work perfectly. It does seem rather nose heavy in manual mode, but it’s perfectly balanced.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV

    nice.. now my question is... if you need it to climb at a certain angle to clear obstacles, how would you do that? the place i fly from there's houses at the end of the field that I would obviously need to clear

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can set you climb angle by adjusting the following parameter in your CLI tab: nav_fw_launch_climb_angle the default is 18 degrees. If you increase this angle just make sure the throttle is high and that your plane is capable of this. Too high angle and not enough power could result in an instant stall. Hope this helps. Cheers

      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The launch settings don't need to be any different because it's a V tail. In fact the Talon GT is one of the models I used these settings on with 100% success. You can see it auto launch at the start of this video: th-cam.com/video/eaOTkcW53qQ/w-d-xo.html The general setup on the mixer tab is where you need to set it to V tail. Made really easy in iNav now as it's one of the standard templates. Cheers :)

    Hi all the trim have to be on center position or no

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Using iNav you shouldn't use the trim adjustment on your transmitter like you would traditionally. You use Autotrim in flight for it to set the servo centre position. If you adjust the trim it could quite possibly prevent you from arming or cancel autolaunch as it will think you are moving your stick.

    Do you like iNAV more than Ardupilot? I've never used either, so I'm not sure if iNAV is better for certain things versus Ardupilot.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nick, I think it's just a matter of opinion. I've not used Ardupilot so I cannot really compare them. The understanding I get is that Ardu is a fair bit harder to get your head around, less user friendly, but it appears people believe it's better performing and I believe it's more advanced in its functionality in some areas such as autonomous wp missions for example. iNav has come a long way since I first tried it over 2 years ago, back then I was a bit unsure, but now I've come to really like it and trust it. This is partly due to the introduction of the excellent Matek flight controllers which I highly recommend! Cheers

    Hi Adam. Sorry to ask a dumb question but I'm in need of your help!. I have built a flying wing but I'm very tight on space inside the fuselage and have been forced to put the esc very close to the receiver and flight controller.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV

      Is with those components I would have liked to keep the rx away from the ESC. It might not be an issue though, just see how it goes 👍🏻 if you put them this close together I guess there’s no other option. Must be a small wing?

    Do you need to put reflex on the wing even on nav launch mode being active? Or the flaps should remain neutral on launch?

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, you should NOT add reflex to the wing for launch... doing so would in fact cancel launch mode. Nav Launch is designed to maintain an upward angle in degrees and adjusts the control surfaces automatically to active this. nav_fw_launch_climb_angle is set to a default of 18 degrees and I have not changed this in my settings.
