- Street Performer, Covent garden, London - Funny street Performer at Covent Garden in London. Let's travel to London and let's visit the area of Covent garden to watch a great performance by a street performer. Since the 1660s Covent Garden has never missed a chance to put on a performance by a variety of street performers. The first record of Covent Garden street entertainment came in 1662, when Samuel Pepys’ diary notes that a marionette show featuring a character named Punch took place on the Piazza. Today, the custom continues.
A shopping and entertainment hub in London's West End, Covent Garden centres on the elegant, car-free Piazza, home to fashion stores, craft stalls at the Apple Market, and the Royal Opera House. Street entertainers perform by 17th-century St. Paul’s Church, and the London Transport Museum houses vintage vehicles. Upscale restaurants serve European cuisines, and nearby theatres draw crowds for plays and musicals.

A different character who also wore a sword was present when I visited in 2006! Thanks for reminding me this much appreciated trip. Last year (2015), when in Bucharest, I was priviledged to see the B-FIT Street Theatre Festival. At night, it was simply amazing!! Look it up.
