I always move when I can if the bites dry up.
Not sure what baits you were using other than mackerel ? I love using lamprey eels the heads are best as they are full of blood .. deadliest pike bait for me personally .. sardines are another.
I also like using those Fox kebab set ups got me a few when bites were at a premium.
Injecting and dipping baits ... all little edges ...

Thank Andrew for your comment and tips - We do try a few others, not eels tho so might have to give those a go! We have tried injected oils etc which certainly seem to work, having a good play around with those lol.
