probably different guitar strings brand and probably didn't tune down the E , A , D , Half step as Mick Mars did and technically he uses his own different guitar amps too all the ect.

Been listening to a lot J5 lately, two great Tele players IMO, Terry Kath (RIP) of Chicago & John 5...they both coax so much sound out of a simple instrument, I do believe each of their respective guitars are customized with humbucker pickups, closer to what Mick's lower end Strat sounds like. No one can replace Mick, but I do feel strongly that J5 is paying his best instrumental respects to the original score while giving the songs some new life and vigor. Despite the discomfort of replacing Mick, the show must go on! Music is eternal and these tracks will live beyond any of us, well done Crue!
If they are going to continue playing the original songs that Mick Mars created guitar riffs to then they need to change their name or pay up up to the one and only legendary Mick Mars. They are nothing without him.

The brilliant Tracii Guns would imo been a far better fit than 5. 5 'is' brilliant - but Tracii is one of the most brilliant guitarists in rock history - the 'Guns' in GnR comes from Tracii Guns.

I love and respect John 5 but there is no beef in that tone. Mick somehow always sounded like two guitar players and pushed the low end.
