hi after i re read my comment i felt i might have been to harsh on you i know for sure how hard the work is..i just caught a few things you do that i would do different just for the sake of speed.. but you guys do a great job!! to me speed and efencency together results in lots more production in the same amount of time..i grow on the bottom and sell 5 to 7 million per year!!!! keep up the good work!!@@ebsell
Yes we work hard at it- love what we do. If i won the lottery last night I still will do it (my crew and i would have new trucks and gear though!! ha ha)
Back before 2004 we could tong close into shor, boats were small and gear was rough, we'd tong the beds but leave enough, But now there's no oyster left because-disease and pollution killed all there was, in 2012 we could see it coming then--- NO MORE OYSTERS NO OYSTER MEN
Oyster farming has devestated softshell clamming in rivers in Maine. Its killing this natural resource and destroy many clam diggers and there families.
We have separate areas for that here in Massachusetts. The area has to be free of commercial quanties of shellfish before the lease is given (us clammers know clam productive areas and those that are not). In fact here in duxbury, once i began to work this bottom with oysters, other shellfish began to settle in the area. The sediment transformed into suitable so they began to flourish.

john quiterio how many oysters do you sell per year? I grow my oysters on the surface and sell about 1.5 million a year.

Maybe one day but as of right now it usually takes a year or more worth of paperwork and headaches
