Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Batu Caves temple just outside Kuala Lumpur over the weekend, many piercing their bodies with hooks and skewers in an act of devotion to the deity Lord Murugan.

I went to Kuala Lumpur in January 2011 deom Bangkok, and of course, went to Thaipusam in Batu Caves. Just wonderful..! But what a pity they now painted the 171 steps leading to the Caves in colour. Looks like Disney Land.
