The last time that I had a large delivery of lumber I used a couple stakes and cardboard signs. I staked out where I wanted the load placed. Worked great.
I had got a few loads on pallets. I always had them place it on the grass right off the road or in the drive way that has a hill for 3/4th of it, but the last 1/4th is flat leading to the garage... I talk to the driver and ask "I got two options what do you think is best." Some drivers did not like the driveway hill going down it, so they taken the grass drop of point.. I also got my riding mower with 14 or 17 cubic foot cart out in that area so i could get to work, so they knew it was a real job not a scam or anything like that.. When I had the pallets of concrete to fill in a trench for stopping my dogs from digging out.. I had two orders and second driver didn't like getting that close to my garage so I was glad for him to drop it at the top of the hill in the grass.. The first driver dropped them in the garage..
If you're going to keep your binder bar in the cab with you it needs to be secured , if bad stuff happens you don't need it under foot or flying around in the cab with you, I've been there and done that , a couple of broom stick clips to stand it in corner of cab , be safe
Now it's a crappy concrete wall... After scratching it will be for the customer build of himalayan rocks, constructed by naked virgins in full moon nichts..
I had a good one one time. Going to install a unit heater in a garage it is about 2'x3'x2' and weighs like 90 pounds. We get to the job and this customer has a bunch of old restored cars in the garage and directly below where the unit heater is supposed to go he has some car that he was telling us was from 1940 something and said it is one of twenty in the world. Only 2' of clearance to either side to setup a ladder, then you would have to reach over top the car to do any work. The customer and his wife were out there showing us where everything was and I told them they are going to have to move the car because I am not going to work above that thing. They asked me why and I said what if I drop this piece of equipment or one of my tools on this car. The wife said to me in a condescending tone "Do you plan on dropping something on my husbands car?" I said I didn't and she said "Then why can't you work above it?". Eventually convinced him to back out his car lol but made us have a later start to our day since he had about 8 other cars blocking the front of this garage that he had to move first.

There is literally nowhere this guy could safely put the load on the property due to the retaining wall surrounding it - short of manhandling every bag. And that is what this lady wanted. She wanted somebody else to load the mulch up the stairs.
Hey man if I had an order and you were delivering I would make sure to have a spot for you to drop orders on the property to keep them save but keep you safe if someone comes flying down the road and hits the truck but not you. And plus I would leave something for you as a thank you like idk maybe a drink or water or something you like as like food or drinks.
@@SaffordDelivery Hey man I would do that for your safety as well if I did something like that and if the property was big maybe I would a have a driveway for you to bring your truck in to park well you unload safely too, but at the same time leave something for you as a thank you.
The store (Home Depot?) needs to stop giving customers exact times of delivery i.e. telling lies! Everyone should know that deliveries rarely go to plan. It creates conflict where none should exist and gives the driver unnecessary grief. Also Home Depot should stipulate that goods over a certain weight and/or size require a signature of an adult upon delivery. For smaller/lighter goods they must agree to a photo as evidence of delivery where no-one's there to accept delivery.
The Moffett forklift. Fellow drivers at work hate having her at the back because of the weight when they come back with the empty bed trailer. Plus, we runs electric forklift and got used to not smell diesel fumes. We nicknamed her "La moufette" (the skunks) which sounds almost like "Moffett" but with the smell idea. XDDD
If someone explains to you that they aren't going to do something because it will risk damaging *your* property, why would you not be thankful the delivery person was thinking about your property for you (and their company's money that would have to pay for the damage)?!? Why argue it?? First, I would be home for this type of delivery. Second, I'm going to trust the person that does the job daily that if they think their equipment could damage my property doing something I requested, I'd be satisfied coming up with an alternative solution.
Driving a forklift is not brain surgery, if you can't put a pallet on top of that grass because your afraid you might damage it you should not be on that f/l. I have seen a few of your video's and you are always complaining about something I would bet money they could get a monkey to do it. My driveway here is wider than that! But my street is narrow and only has enough room for 1 way traffic for the weekly trash truck if cars are parked on both sides of the street.
Mike, how far away would a trucker be willing to park to unload and drive the forklift the rest of the way? Like in my situation, you wouldn’t have enough space on the street to fit the forklift next to the truck to unload. You’d have to unload on the bigger street that’s at the end of my street.

I totally understand not wanting to take customers' BS in these situations. However, being on the customer side of these deliveries a couple times myself, I can tell you that Lowe's and Home Depot NEVER give accurate information regarding delivery date, time, and location. I was very frustrated during my deliveries due to this, but never took it out on the delivery guys as I knew they had no control over these miscommunications. Still sucks to be a customer though. That's why I now deal with local lumber yards instead of L or HD.

@@SaffordDelivery Well now I get it... they probably do that because it's cheaper than having to deal with litigation and social media PR. I think it's passing the buck, but understandble (wrong but understandable)... what's inexcusable is making impossible promises. My lady's family moved to Michigan and the local HD told them that the delivery company would install their gas oven... yeah they lied. Because plenty of courts wouldn't recognize it. Liability can't always be released, most likely they'd be held liable no matter what. Far better to only deliver where the weight will be handled by what's under it.
Some people just don't know better or try to do stupid shit to screw someone else over. I get people constantly asking me to drive onto their grass and 99% of the time I will refuse because I don't want them to try and screw me for damaging their grass. Id rather walk the extra few feet and/or mildly annoy the customer by not taking such a risk.
I used to work in a steel shop making all kinds crazy stuff. Our delivery driver had to put up with a lot of B.S. from customers about where he was dropping off. He did not have a Moffet. We had a huge fork lift. He liked coming to us. He didn't have to do anything. But some of the customers that I see you dealing with are the same as what he had to deal with. His company policy was the customer unloads the steel. They wanted him to take his truck into to stupid places. These dumbasses would order huge pieces of steel. And thought the driver was unloading it. HaHaHa!!! Nope. If you gotta steel shop. Figure out how you are gonna move that s&$t.
You don't understand, customers will say anything to Get you to do what they want you to do even though they know you're not supposed to and then try to file a claim.

Yeah...I wear an orange apron (I am the plumbing and electrical guy in my store) and I just wince when I see your videos, brother... ☹ I think if the people in my community actually knew about the horse sh*t the employees get from the management they wouldn't spend all that money there...They would go to Lowes or Rona or Home Hardware...But then again we have seen a LOT of entitled Karens and Darrens everywhere..I had a guy storm out of my department because I asked him a question about the thing he was seeking.. a "Sewage pipe"..and when I asked him what size he wanted he got angry...he screamed " You know...a house sized one"...so the usual size is a 4 inch pipe in PVC, but Darren wasn't into listening to all that nonsense...he just screamed "See..this is what you people do!!!" and off he went to seek out my management..and later we all laughed at his ignorance and impatience...as did the contractors who also tried to educate the man...because I specialise in essential components in the home...I earn a bit more and I am sought out for what I know...but I constantly get people who think DIY stands for just ask the person in the orange apron how to do it...no..the slogan is "You can do it...we can help" means just that...not "We will do it for you..as you demand..regardless of anything..and you just stand and demand we do it just as you ask, regardless of how ridiculous the request is!"... If a customer wants to say "I'm responsible for any damage", you gotta have a way to protect yourself if he changes his mind or is lying...a camera is great but a contract signed by the fool would be great too...and the HD has to stop promising the world to people just to get them down the line to the next apron wearing associate with their complaint..policy is easy to enforce if everyone is on the same page and willing to do uncomfortable tasks...like telling an angry customer "No", regardless of how angry reality makes them... I will be really frank here and say in my particular case , I am in a place where there are not a lot of jobs to choose from; and so I gotta suck it up and smile when I want to run..but that's on me because I chose to live here..I am just not good in retail... But you are right..and I love watching your vids...it makes my work days better for viewing them... 🙂
Having said all that, I have learned a tonne of things from the awesome contractors I help...they are always awesome and make my day great because they are full of info that is helpful for me to do my job..and the HD is always going to be here...so my job is safe and I don't have to worry about having to jump from one job to another...
I just started watching these videos last week... But It seems like you hate EVERY customer and job you have🤨... Ever think of a career change... More than half the things you complain about is part of the trucking job usually... Like backing up into tight areas and doing whatever it takes to make your customers happy. I've heard you say "it's only curbside delivery. So that's really where my job is done", about 100 times. Look on the positive side of things and life will be a little happier. Not everyone is out to get you. You have her on camera saying put it there, so you won't be held liable in court, if it came to that... If it did happen to me and it went bad, I'd laugh and say "well, I told ya, but you said put it there anyway, have a good day"...
Load one side then move the truck over, use you brain. You don't control their site and if you have to wait, wait. Yes you are responsible for the load ie, safe loading and load security and be responsible on the road. If it falls off your fault that's what load security is. Call yourself a truck driver? Your not, you are just a steering wheel jockey ! This from a MAN with 30+ years experience driving trucks
Custermers are funny some are fine but never ever trust one they will sure bite you as soon as look at you I found out years ago log everything keep your own ass covered cos they sure won't do it for you
I'm not sure she was trying to "set you up", she probably just wanted it off the street so she could load it into her wheelbarrow easier. But given your experiences, I can see why you'd think that
Wow, you're not willing to go the extra millimeter for customer service. There's playing it safe, but then there's you I've seen in multiple videos. No thanks.I don't do anything for anyone ever.
Just a suggestion.... say your being audio and video recorded. Your asking me to drop the pallets and place them on xyz and your reliving me of all responsibility associated with? Yes ? OK great. Your full name please? You have just singed a verbal release

Doesn't make a difference Home Depot doesn't back us They will force the broker company to take it out of our settlement
HD has to pay the shipping both ways now (if nobody accepted that bs they wouldn't pull it).
Dang neighbors dog 🐕 😆
Problem is you’ve given the customer to many options.
Why do you leave the truck engine running while unloading?
For a few reasons, The truck has a 6-minute automatic timer, The turbo needs to cool down, and it prevents issues with the DPF system
@@SaffordDelivery
Would the turbo be getting hot when driving in a residential area?
@@thechumpsbeendumped.7797 I wouldn't say real hot but 5 to 6 minutes to allow it to cool down doesn't kill anybody
you are too
nice i have been doing delivery's for over 20 years , i don't operate a moffet but a 40 foot tandem with a crane i give them one chance to tell me where they would like it after that i put it where i want it and if they say take it back like one of your other videos , i just walk away i don't try and discus options by the time i get to my truck they change there minds , i notice your tie downs are on the drivers side , in Canada Ont most are on the curb side to say away from cars
thanks i keep watching
Why doesn't your company just use a release of liability form?
th-cam.com/video/seJbdsby5pY/w-d-xo.html
Because plenty of courts wouldn't recognize it. Liability can't always be released, most likely they'd be held liable no matter what. Far better to only deliver where the weight will be handled by what's under it.
nice red 86
Everyone has waited in all day, by all day they mean by 1030am.... All day means unto at least 6pm ffs.
Okay forget the wall just put it on top of the garage
🤣🤣
Some people just don't know better or try to do stupid shit to screw someone else over.
I get people constantly asking me to drive onto their grass and 99% of the time I will refuse because I don't want them to try and screw me for damaging their grass. Id rather walk the extra few feet and/or mildly annoy the customer by not taking such a risk.
Love the content 👌
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Put it over the wall… nope… hard pass
Why do customers insist on being difficult with stupid requests
🤷♂️🤷♂️
Better to be safe then sorry.
What`s the cost of living there?? It looks expensive!
Condos near the water, and drug abusers walking just feet from your property $300k 👍
I bit over dramatic and misleading caption. You asked a question and she gave you an answer. No set up there
You don't understand, customers will say anything to Get you to do what they want you to do even though they know you're not supposed to and then try to file a claim.
Been in the business for 35 years so I do understand. Yih are all about getting hit on TH-cam pretty basic
@@timmurray7639 so then why question what you already know
I think this guy prides himself on being a hard ass..He enjoys being able to shoot down customers request. I know know some request are not logical, but you look forward to shooting down request, going in with negative attitude gets you negative results
@@SaffordDelivery because he’s bull$hitting you about 35 years in business 😂
Why didn't u put the call on speaker?
Why?
@@SaffordDelivery - good thing you didn't because that would be recording her phone conversation. But you knew that too.
@@wickedcabinboy it isn't illegal
@@SaffordDelivery - in some places it is. I'm not a lawyer though, so I'm giving no legal advice.
Why do you leave your keys in the ignition when out the truck very careless for a hgv driver
🤷♂️
I don't have that much patience.
Used to deliver driveway and retaining wall Lego blocks off a Rmod Mack crane truck....2 seasons of fuck ups and they dumped me....haha I'm. 72. Happened 5 years ago....hahaha OG SS gone
.....ain't done ✔️ 👍 FU46
Clumsy drivers shouldn't take risks.
Exactly
Wife says it’s ok then the husband come home and the wife says she didn’t tell them they could. Or visa versa with husband wife.
good video
this is why you don't have unprofessional people deliver things
So that we don't get suckered into doing things that isn't in our job description? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@SaffordDeliverythat's life 😂
I always think your in a school bus at first lol
Get off the bus Frank! 🤣🤣🤣
I would have put it over past wall a little, come on ,lol
The thing is I knew exactly who's home this was and me and that person staff is not exceptionally fond of each other so I wasn't going to give them the higher hand and definitely not do what I'm supposed to do.
How did she try to set you up? She simply asked you if you can help her out so she would not have to carry them farther in her self.... if you can't do it you can't do it.. lol ain't no one setting you up lol. If you were her u would prob ask the same thing! Why would u want ur stuff let out on the curb?? Lol
How would he get views without clickbait titles??
Yeah...I wear an orange apron (I am the plumbing and electrical guy in my store) and I just wince when I see your videos, brother... ☹
I think if the people in my community actually knew about the horse sh*t the employees get from the management they wouldn't spend all that money there...They would go to Lowes or Rona or Home Hardware...But then again we have seen a LOT of entitled Karens and Darrens everywhere..I had a guy storm out of my department because I asked him a question about the thing he was seeking.. a "Sewage pipe"..and when I asked him what size he wanted he got angry...he screamed " You know...a house sized one"...so the usual size is a 4 inch pipe in PVC, but Darren wasn't into listening to all that nonsense...he just screamed "See..this is what you people do!!!" and off he went to seek out my management..and later we all laughed at his ignorance and impatience...as did the contractors who also tried to educate the man...because I specialise in essential components in the home...I earn a bit more and I am sought out for what I know...but I constantly get people who think DIY stands for just ask the person in the orange apron how to do it...no..the slogan is "You can do it...we can help" means just that...not "We will do it for you..as you demand..regardless of anything..and you just stand and demand we do it just as you ask, regardless of how ridiculous the request is!"...
Seatbelt?😅🤔
You sound just like "The Bay Area Transparency" guy that does first amendment audits. Is that your channel too?
Nope but we are aware of him
C'mon, that extra weight up there wouldn't have caused any damage 🥴
No added risk taken here don't care no "claims"
You say that till it dose ultimately break and you sue over damages.
@@scott2862 exactly 💯
@@scott2862 clearly I was being super sarcastic.
@@sharkey086 obviously not so clear to at least 3 of us.
Just saying.
You seem to have a low opinion of everyone you work for.
Well said I would hate to have a his guy deliver to me!
You seem like the type of person to allow a customer to marry your wife just to make a sale.
@@lordwolffurry582😂
Yea I kno right
This driver is a clown 🤡 😂.
Yea all fun and games until the order is an entire load of concrete and they load it all on one side
Moffett kicked ass
Why aren't they home to tip decent? You should get tips
Wyning, wyning, wyning....

Custermers are funny some are fine but never ever trust one they will sure bite you as soon as look at you I found out years ago log everything keep your own ass covered cos they sure won't do it for you
Rockwall huh. Ok thanks. Have a good day.
Driveway it is.
Just covering your *ss. Can't blame you.
I'm not sure she was trying to "set you up", she probably just wanted it off the street so she could load it into her wheelbarrow easier. But given your experiences, I can see why you'd think that
And because I know who the person is
So was she trying to get a new wall?
Wasn't sticking around to find out
Wow, you're not willing to go the extra millimeter for customer service.
That wouldn't work I can't tell you how many stories of sign liability waivers and the driver still got charged back for it
@@SaffordDelivery well if pressed it wouldn't hold up in court. I drove a flatbed with Moffett for 15 yrs delivering 2000 pound bundles of steel and copper tubing while I was building my business enough to stop driving and we were always told that verbal confirmation was all we needed . How has Stussy not sued you yet for stealing their logo S. Be safe out there, good content.

All you had to do was have her send you a text message saying you aren't responsible for ANY damage and tell her you want to record her saying it. If she refuses, she's up to something. If she agrees, then you're just being a jerk.
