EDIT: I just noticed that there was an issue with the audio rendering at 3:06 - well, that fucking sucks. Can't go back and change it now since the entire timeline will get fucked up and I'll have to redit the whole video frame by frame to account for it. Fuck me! Thats incredibly fucking annoying! Words cannot describe my tilt. There's also an issue with the bitrate, I'm not sure why this is, but the timeline in my editor broke this morning and it got corrupted lmfao, it could also be youtube compression but this is big sad :(
I hope this video will be part 1 in a montage series as I clear space, but knowing my inconsistency, it might be the only one for another 3 years lmao. I’m sorry it’s almost 10 minutes. I tried to keep it at 3:06, but using 1 clip per level made it long. The next video won’t be as complex, and I’ll focus on curating clips I actually like. This one was haphazard, and I don’t know why the resolution is so bad. I’m on a downpatched version, meaning no new mods or maps, so I’m stuck in the past.
Almost all gameplay is from my custom difficulty, ZazMare+, which includes CBT mods: nerfed player tools (I take damage through my 180 shield), buffed enemies, infinite tokens/token manager at 0, 2.5x enemy speed/damage, 0.7 player damage, plus a hammer nerfed by Apricorum, MuricanEagle, and me (4 charges, halved damage/radius, hard falter only, etc).
I haven’t played Eternal much in the last 2 years because of work, working out, socializing, and starting my Masters, plus playing other games. The footage here (and likely future videos) is from July-August 2024. I had ~600GB of clips and tried to isolate worthwhile stuff, but I’m not happy with the gameplay since I focused more on syncing it with the song and relearning editing. It’s been ages since I used editing software (DaVinci Resolve here, plus HitFilm Express on the side).
I wanted to make this video for a while, but was busy writing my Masters thesis and trying to find a job in Biosciences and Applied Biology; I only just graduated. I kinda suck at editing but learned a lot from this. In prior videos, I’d just throw clips in; then I started using transitions; then in my DUSK to DUSK video, I just shoved old clips onto TH-cam.
I did try to sync the beats, but not always successfully. Also, my hard drive with old footage (HOW stuff, nice archives) died, and I need to repair it, so that content is stuck in stasis. I had, and still have, a lot on my plate, making extended play difficult. After upgrading my PC, I wanted to revisit all player-created content I previously UN’d to make supercuts. There’s also new tech I wanted to learn, like mixing a stronger ground game and other combos.
I had a “6 month plan” to relearn Eternal and use various player-created techniques, so when I re-UN’d user content I could make varied videos with detailed pacing and playstyle mixes. I don’t think that’ll happen now. There might only be 3 levels left for me to UN or something. I also wanted to make a big combat guide covering everything needed to master Eternal, but I don’t feel ready. Still, I’m a bit proud that at ~1.5k hours, my skill is around the 2-2.5k mark, though I don’t play enough to improve further or make the changes I want. I’ve often said I only upload for something to watch when I smoke-maybe that’s dickish, but I don’t see many Eternal videos like this and I generally try to upload the videos that I like to watch.
I’d love take part in a community project someday, real DMC-like - get all the boys in there, Sylar, Murican, idk929, T0yota, Sav, Seejayyy, Angeri, Div, Nick, Onyx, Saleem, Avqlanche, maybe some of the SvS guys (that i dont know that well but we'll see lmfao) and all the other great players and friends I've come to know and make. You guys have made the last 4 years a blast, and I hope to enjoy a lot more with you all soon as TDA comes out :D
I really want more varied levels and arenas in future videos (not from this archive), and I’m working with my friend nxmxlxss on that. I want chaos and CBT to be a big focus. With The Dark Ages announced, most of my effort will be clearing my Eternal footage (I won’t play until it’s empty or I’ll just keep clipping) and building my life with my girlfriend. I hope TDA is good, and I’ll definitely play it (ZazMare+ out the gate, baby), assuming my PC holds up.
I had a lot to say for this video and barely organized it. I might just drop it and share it around tomorrow if I feel like it. Shout outs to my homies (you know who you are ;D).
