I am the lucky patron this knife was made for, and I kid not when I say I carry it everyday whenever I’m wearing pants. It’s incredibly functional and comfortable - one of the best purchases I’ve made.
This review changed my mind about tanto designs. I thought they were a gimmick, but maybe its just the cheap one I bought, but they have a lot of utility. Does this one have a convex edge on the 'almost' straight edge?
@@darylbrenton4839 I’m glad! You know I had the same journey, in 2020 I thought to myself, “maybe it’s time to revisit the tanto” I hadn’t used one in a long time and thought they were a gimmick. Once using one at work I found they were extremely helpful in all sorts of situations. Yes this one is convex ground also. All the knives I do will are my special formula for a convex grind…special formula just being the way I do it freehand on the grinder that produces an edge super sharp but also super durable. Thanks so much for your comment and for engaging with the channel!
@@MarsFireForge I suspect that the convex edge is a large part of the success of your knife. The only (cheap) tanto I've ever owned was all straight grinds and that sharp corner at the tip/blade junction. It prejudiced me against the design. Didn't the original tantos have a round transition from tip to blade? Or most of them anyway.
@@darylbrenton4839 yes actual Japanese tantos are much closer to the Finnish pukku. Lynn Thompson/ Bob Lum came up with that sharp transition which actually ends up being really useful.

Jason! What a blessing to hear, thanks so much. I need to call sometime so we can chat and I get some more feedback on how it’s been treating you!

@@MarsFireForge I don't get any notifications of replies to my comments. Is youtube supposed to do this?
@@darylbrenton4839 I’m not sure, it could be a setting you have to toggle
