    A lot of time and effort has gone into this video. Being a musician and fellow videographer I can tell you have put the graft in for this it's a great production and I will be revisiting this video when my unit arrives to take notes. Thank you

    Had an opportunity to work with the CQ-18T this fall on a youth retreat, and it was incredible.
    I’ve been the sound guy at my church for about a year and a half now, but I’m also good with the video/lyric projection side, which means I am used to doing multiple stations simultaneously (e.g. mixing audio and preparing camera angles).
    When I was using the CQ, I was using Proclaim on my personal MacBook (M1 Pro 14”) which was on my left, with the CQ on my right . When I say it’s some of my favorite mixing, I mean it. Admittedly, I wasn’t doing anything too intense as the band was a guitar, a cajon, and two vocalists. Even still, the flow moving between my laptop and the CQ was a dream. I was able to jump between both stations effortlessly. You don’t get as much fine control because of the lack of faders, so if you’re mixing a full band it might be a bit more difficult, but for a small band it really was a treat. Wish that I could have had more time with it, but it belonged to the venue so it had to stay behind. I loved my time with it though, so much so that my next board that I purchase will be the CQ-18T. It’s a beast!

    Our church has been using a line 6 m20d for years. It has served inexperienced volunteers well over the years. It now has software issues and no longer has any support from line6 or Yamaha who bought line6. The CQ seems to be a familiar platform we can easily transition to with some big upgrades from the m20d. Thanks for this video and for all the help you provide churches.

    Nicely done. I got a CQ18T a couple of months ago for my portable rig (replaced my TouchMix-8), and I'm loving it. For portability, I'd highly recommend getting two of the QSC K8.2 loudspeakers. They have an amazing, crystal clear sound that easily fills an auditorium, and the size makes them perfect for portability.

    Love it, we use it in a small church in Almere, the Netherland, Europe last sunday for the first time. Great sound quality, very easy to use. The old desk was the Allen & Heat QU-16 with an "old school" snake (there was no budget for a stage box) So when this was available we sold the QU-16 and bought the CQ-18-T. We even made a small profit for the church ;-)

    You have really accomplished the right balance of conveying technical information, personal insights, and professional passion. I am not a church person, but I will be following your process quite closely as I use my A&H CQ with my bose system for gigs. You have really done a brilliant job with this video and I hope A&H reimburses you for promoting their tech in the most capable format.

    Hot tip for any audio engineer doing Church audio. If you listen carefully to his Final Mix you'll note that the high mids are peeking louder than the low mids on each instrument. If you make sure the low mids on all instruments are coming through and you don't have shrill high-mids, you're going to have a more beautiful mix. This is the secret to the Fleetwood Mac sound, a reference sound I used to achieve exelent audio. Use the Spectrum analyzer on each channel to check what high frequencies need to be cut back. It's possible a shelving frequency with an extremely wide queue slightly rolling off the top end for more of a beautiful warm tone. If you still have issues with harshness run the entire mix through a VLA stereo compressor and see if that doesn't make things more beautiful.

    Looking forward to working with this in my studio. Not doing any live mixing, just using as a mixer and 96k recorder. After recording I’ll try an onboard mix and compare it to the mix I already have on the Force.

    It's amazing the number of people who don't understand signal balance.
    When your look down and your master is at -40 to make the room work, warning bells need to go off that something is wrong.....
    Great demo of this gear. I'm really interested in this little mixer.

    19:00 keys are probably coming out at line level. Rather than put them through the preamp XLRs, put them into the line inputs. If you must use XLRs, then set gain to minimum (trying to turn preamps off, essentially).

    Saw in a little cafe where their place is an L-shaped and there's no space for a mixing board. Speakers are up on the wall and it's just allowed us to control the sound much better. and gave us space. A church uses their space on Sundays and they love it too

    Best mixing and most portable console I ever used in a live setting is the Midas M32C. Amazing machine solely controlled on iPad. The only downside is that it has no headphone amp but that is easy to workaround. I use the headphone output on the Midas DL16. but the other downside is the use of ancient 1930s storage system for its Freescale CPU. But the machine is the full M32 Live in a single rack unit. I use mine for both live events and as an audio interface in the studio via touchscreen monitors powered by a intel Nuc to work the M32 Edit software. It is futuristic.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The M32C seems like a pretty amazing machine, but as a rack mixer it has very few connections and controls built in. It is meant to work with an external controller (iPad) and an external stage box. For a person who does not own a car, hauling a tablet and a stage box in addition to a 1U rack unit isn't exactly a portable combination. Plus the total price of those components is quite a bit higher than the CQ series which has all of that built in. The M32C definitely has its uses and competes well with the CQ series in small fixed installations, but doesn't quite fit my portability requirements.

      I really like QSC for speakers, subs and amps but A&H is the best for mixing, Behringer used to be a cheap audio gear, just like EV, a Kia and Hyundai, I don't buy Samsung and LG too. New people buys Behringer X32, nah not Behringer.

    1) Is Allen and Heath CQ series supports external DAW application like waves superrack performer?
    2) if they would have given ultranet port for in-ear for ME-500 in same console...it will be mind blowing.... because XR18 and MR18 has those options. 2:16

    Got mine on preorder and can’t wait to get it! Can you do a video on how to send the audio to a live stream from this mixer? I bought it so I can teach drums via zoom/remotely and send the final mix (with EQ’s and effects) to the live stream. How do you route it especially because zoom and all these other outlets only recognize channels 1&2. Thank you in advance! Amazing demo and overview!!

    As someone who mixed on the Xair 18 from Behringer for 7 years this feels like what Behringer should of updated the XR18 to be 4 years ago. Smaller setup better iPad setup. would be cool if there was a custom gator travel box that you could use to create a really small rack mount system. But this thing is sick and if i was still in that small church setting I would upgrade to this immediately.

    • @TerenceKearns
      @TerenceKearns ปีที่แล้ว

      to be fair, A&H only just released this months ago. There's still time for Behringer to update but they are still selling those Xair and X32 units so it's no rush for them. A&H have set an extremely high bar. You can criticise any company for not being as good as them with these offerings for this market segment. Presonus dosn't have anything as good as this. Neither does soundcraft, neither does yamaha... these are unique.

    I would use the 18T from the back of the room as the main mixer and have a 20B on stage which you control with an iPad. Thats enough inputs for most small to medium churches. The 20B acts as a stage box even though it's not a stage box, it's an independent unit. Can just send stereo output into once of the stereo inputs of the 18T and thats good enough. Not too complicated. Both of these mixers together are still cheaper that a single Yamaha TF3 24ch digital mixer. You'd have enough money left over for a cheap iPad.

  • @schlausprecher3361
    @schlausprecher3361 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Be careful hooking up the Behringer PM1s to symmetrical outputs on consoles/stagesboxes, since they expect a stereo signal over XLR, not the usual hot/cold provided by a symmetric output! Our church ran this setup for quite a while until I opened up one to repair it and realized how it was wired internally. We now have modded all our PM1s to connect both the left and right channel to the same XLR-Signal-Pin, which improved the Sound-Quality considerably.

    • @dennishoffleit
      @dennishoffleit ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You will get phase cancelation. That why it sounds so horrible. You can do an adapter that only brings + of that output to pin 2 and 3 to the belt pack. Second downside of that PM1 it has no amp. The word "in ear amp" is wrong, because there is no amp...

    • @schlausprecher3361
      @schlausprecher3361 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dennishoffleit thats essentially what we did, just inside the PM1 instead of as a Cable which someone might use somewhere else by accident.

    • @aleksandergrzybowski8899
      @aleksandergrzybowski8899 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can someone explain to me, what PM1 is good for? AFAIK it is literally a very expensive volume attenuator, which requires very strange TRS-XLR stereo connection instead of normal minijack (why?), which afaik no mixer has, so it requires a headamp anyway.

    • @heatheldridge7127
      @heatheldridge7127 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aleksandergrzybowski8899it works fine on an XLR doesnt it?

    • @aleksandergrzybowski8899
      @aleksandergrzybowski8899 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@heatheldridge7127 XLR is just a connector. PM1 needs headphone amp levels on that connector (imagine minijack from your phone - that's the level you want), otherwise, with typical XLR levels, the volume will be very quiet (correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm just wondering how it is compares against a Soundcraft UI24R, above all concerning sound quality (preamp headroom, FX...). Just concerning the effects as for instance reverb and Delay, through the You Tube videos, I find the Soundcraft effects much richer (?).

    Hello, brother do you have any scene to sell? And add to my CQ 18T

    I've downloaded the CQ mixpad app and from what I can tell, you can't EQ the reverb, is that correct? In other words, you can't filter out the lows or the highs on the reverbs. Also, the reverbs have no control for decay time, other than the knob labeled "size". Has anyone been able to find more controls for the effects?

    I wish they would have had a port for their me mixers. Or at least more aux mixes. Gotta have stereo in ears imo lol

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Been mixing all sorts of sets in my church for the past 10 or so years and I've never had people ask for a stereo IEM mix. We don't have personal IEM mixers so I guess nobody has just known that it can be done. I have received requests for echo in the monitoring though -and that's currently one thing this mixer can't do (might be patched in later). No way to output FX to the monitor sends as far as I'm aware.-

      @ yeah I guess it is personal preference. I'm a musician so it's also my ideal situation. Mono is distracting in my opinion and being able to have stereo effects and stereo room mics in the ears as well makes all the difference.

      @usually you can send the FX return to a monitor send to add reverb to you monitor. What mixer do you have?

      The 20 input one does

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewpotter927 Yes, that's what I generally do. I've mainly used Yamaha LS9-32 and A&H C3500 and I can add FX to monitors on both of them. It is a somewhat common request, as I mentioned. -However, the CQ series doesn't seem to currently have separate FX returns that could be routed anywhere.-
