    This guy does some of the best audio videos online. Like the occlusion video was a game changer for me... I've been touring with huge acts for over 10 years and never heard about it!

    Hey Drew, a good use of mute groups is to turn off effects. For example I always setup mute group 6 button for any vocal effects, so that a quick #6 button push can quickly turn off my effects when maybe a band player starts to pray and I don't want any reverb on their voice while the prayer is taking place. This helps my volunteers quickly turn off effects. I noticed you made a comment on never using mute groups and I just wanted to chime in on how others might find mute groups helpful. Great videos and Thank You for all you do!

    I can definitely relate to being the one 'tech guy' being part of a smaller church. This year I have really noticed how difficult it has been for me to be there every Sunday with being unavailable due to work or holiday trips, so I've really been focused on trying to train more people into the operating the tech.
    This will also allow me to have a break once in a while if I need to.

    Drew is absolutely an amazing asset. I run sound for a concert venue that has a x32 compact, and more than once gone to a Drew video for help as I was learning.

    What do you think about mute groups for effects, especially for small church that doesn't have tech savvy volunteers? Mute off gets reverb and delay, mute on stops FX.

    @Churchfront @DrewBrashler - Regarding 32:25 - just FYI, the Behringer lab (console lab) engineers have indicated to me that during the life cycle of a product, they will not "cut new holes" nor "resize existing cut-outs" in the metal work of a product. So while internal circuit boards may get new revisions that change the layout, the things that poke out through the chassis will not change in size or location. For example, this is the reason that we do not yet have combo XLR jacks on the x32, and probably never will (XLR combo jacks require an ever so slightly larger hole / cut-out). Or at least not on the current iteration of the x32. So don't hold your breath for an external monitor connector on the Wing, although it would be a cool idea.

    Another feature of dca mutes is that the channels still play sound in IEM mixes.

    Hello Brashler
    Kindly help me understand why my M32 Midas main LR output has low sensitivity towards vocal signals even when the gain is cranked all way up. The channel shows it's clipping but not much is reaching the LR mains output.
    So because of this, the backup vocals usually sound too quiet in the live mix.
    Thank you.

    I have recently started watching Drew because I have recently transitioned to a new church with an X32. He is very helpful. He mentioned perhaps digging deeper with other consoles. I think QSC has reached a good balance between features and usability. It's a lot more intuitive than the X32 and not as intimidating for volunteers.

  • @andygriffiths7230

    Agreed. How many churches have over spent on consoles and have a non working or non cohesive speaker system. Crazy

    I have a nightmare with the x32. I use it fine, I turn it off and I can't turn it on until 2 days have passed. I've already looked for any solution and I can't find anything.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Qobuz + Tidal is a really great solution. Their catalogs are a bit different so if you only pick one make sure it has what you like.

    Thanks for this, guys... just a quick question on using DCAs instead of mute groups... I currently use a mute group to suppress the vocal effects on the lead vocal, for when the worship leader is talking, versus singing. If not using mute groups, how do you do this quickly when needed?

    • @emcc7579
      @emcc7579 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Instead of mute groups you use dcas for the same effect returns that you are muting. Bring up your returns channels page on the left and dcas page on the right. Push and hold the select button for the dca 1-8 you want to use while toggling (press and release once) the select button for each return or channel you wish to be controlled by that particular dca you are holding down. Then release that button. You will have to toggle that dca to exit this dca grouping mode and exclusively show which channels are grouped to the dca on the right side but you do not need to select in order to control the returns or Channels. You can then adjust volume or mute that dca to control whatever is grouped to it. Hope this is clear, if not search drew...dcas x32.

    Quick Question: is using a compressor on individual channels AND Main L/R too much compression?

    • @BlackCoinCrypto
      @BlackCoinCrypto 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      A compressor on a guitar maintains its position in the mix. A compressor on L/R main maintains or limits the level in the room.

      @MrandMrsPodcasting 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlackCoinCrypto I definitely have a limiter and compressor on my L/R mains. Im thinking like I’m in a DAW but curious if that method works for live mixing.

    I'm going to take issue with Radial DI's. They may sound fine - until they stop working. My experience with a pair of Radial ProDIs is three failures so far. I thought I was buying a top quality robust product, but I was conned by the marketing - never again...
