I remember as a little kid, I would always beat the first stage, and then I would stop playing soon after starting stage 2. I was just too little to understand what to do. I would just roam around for minutes until I got bored or until I got killed. It never occurred to me that I had to kill a certain amount of enemies to advance. I didn't realize this until one day I saw my uncle play through it; I was sort of shocked. By the time this happened however, I moved on the N64, so I never got the chance to fully experience this game. Dammit!
This was a great playthrough - skillful, no deaths, with annotations for commentary instead of a high-pitched nerd swearing through the whole endeavor. Bravo!
Farm boy meets 2 robots and then an old man, gets laser sword, meets a rebel with a furry, and they go to save a princess with cinnamon bun hair from a giant laser shooting pollen spore. Movie in a nutshell.
I had this on my SNES when I was younger, and I was on the last stage when my SNES fell and broke. I just recently bought this on my Wii like 10 years after my SNES broke, and my goal in life is to beat it on the hardest difficulty.
able2ful1 The actual thing didn't break, but something on the inside came apart or something. If you pick it up (I still have the SNES for memories) You can hear something inside shaking around, like a loose part.
That awkward moment you realize a trusty blaster is better than ancient weapons and hokey religions. Seriously, the blaster in this game at max level is godlike if you hold onto it.
Oh my god! I can't believe that there are so many people who still remember this game after nearly 20 years! I played the game in 2000 when I was 5 years old on PC. It could only be run in DOS by cmd. But at that time the game couldn't be saved and loaded so I never completed it. What a pity! I didn't get over all three games(episode IV V VI) until 5 years ago by snes9x.exe. It has the function of saving and loading games. But the most impressive scene is the beginning of episode IV on Tatooine, the beautiful dessert and sky. The battle with Jawas is also unforgettable!
Best tactic for the speeder level is to just jam the thing in reverse, while firing forwards. Then, when you need to get to the crawler, just max out the jets and fly over everything in the air
37:20 God damn, that was the hardest part in the entire game. Not Vader, not the Death Star, but some random thug in the cantina. If you didn't have an upgraded gun at that point you were completely fucked. The video makes it look easy because they go into it with a fully upgraded gun. The only way to win was have an upgraded gun and hope you killed him before he killed you, because dodging was pretty much impossible.
The rescue of Leia on the Death Star mission has given me a frightful new view of the inside of the Space station. The ceilings are smashing down into the floors, you have to flip jump up on several elevators to get the next detention area that has another ceiling smashing down to the ground. I have no idea if Tarkin has to take that path from his quarters on a daily basis, but this view of the inside of the Death Star is terrifying. Game logic can make things more frightening.
That's the empire saving money in wrong places. Theed power generator in Phantom menace didn't have safety rails, and had deadly laser doors. You better be careful and never ever come to work intoxicated.
My my bud had a Snes way back when - I started playing this game one night (jumped off that cliff to get a lotta lives) finally got to the Death Star - By this time it felt like it took about 10 days!! Damn cramp from the controller & I could still see & hear the game after I'd turned off the system!!! Nice to finally see it beat!! Classic game. LOL
Nice work. Great game! Found it pretty tough to beat all those years ago. I completed this one last of the trilogy because of its difficulty. Especially that Cantina boss. He was such a pain to try to beat him. Isn't it funny that at Mos Eisley the stormtroopers are shooting at you but you don't know why as they don't have a reason to fire at you, haha. Sure they're looking for 2 droids but still... XD
I forgot about this game, just remembered it out of the blue. Right when the first level loaded and he began shooting, I almost shit when I remembered the spaghetti gun lol. That's what I used to call it since that's what it looked like to me as a kid and it instantly came to mind after probably 20 years of not seeing it. Unbelievable
theRappinSpree they might not have the star wars on there, they didnt really have any like movie/cartoon games on the NES mini, they left out a lot of classics and many of theme were movie/cartoon stuff, like Batman and duck tales, maybe it has something to do with rights, not sure
thanks for the suggestion. i'm playing it, but it may take a bit since it's an open world game and i have to figure out what to do including the hidden stuff. looks really fun, I like it. will post when done ;)
How awesome would it be to make a "Super Star Wars Force Awaken" 16 bit on Xbox market and Sony play store, and limited snes cartridges.... Oh the good times :')
Requesting - Ghosts and Goblins...very tough game, I've never gotten past the first level..would love to see someone actually beat the game...Good Luck...your gonna need it...
I remember this gameeeeeeeeeeee. Ah, this was actually a REALLY good side scrolling platform game for it's time. This was up there with Super Mario World and Donkey Kong back in my day. Hell, even when I was playing Playstation 1 games, I'd still pop this in regularly to play.
I do not know when the roman numeral was added to A New Hope, but I know it was around 1981, because I have seen posters from that year state Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. And in the VHS commentary, Lucas said he already had the prequels in mind and wrote the outlines for Episode I when filming Episode IV.
A trick for the 2nd level with the land speeder is you don't actually have to move forward to beat it. If you just move side to side and kill the enemies that pop up you'll beat the level very easily.
I used to have this game. It was great from start to finish. And as you know, Disney now owns LucasFilm and with "Episode 7" coming out by 2015, "Super Star Wars" is now considered as a Disney game.
Fun Fact: For the second stage you can just chill without moving and the cargo will approach you and you will beat the stage. I found this out as a kid because your not really going anywhere, the screen is moving.
Wow, those Sand People don't play. They jump up and show you they mean business.. I say this game trilogy gets an HD make over, maybe make it easier to save your progress and other such things, put it on PSN, XBLA, etc. I'd also stress that people making a Battlefront game, or a Star Wars FPS-esp one where you use melee, take notes of the different weapons and how certain enemies fight. "Do StormTroopers drop down from orbit or where do they come from?" I think they're waiting in the clouds. That's the only place where they have some form of camouflage.
I use to have this game as well as Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, played them all the time eventually my SNES gave out and then I started to use emulators. It's pretty cool you can play SNES games on your phone.
I remember this game, but I hope that this game will soon to be available at GOG for download which is free. GOG is a site where you can download classic LucasArts games for free including this and other classic LucasArts titles.
Someone should make a fan made hack of this game called ''Super Thumb Wars'' based on the 1999 film by Steve Oedekerk of O Entertainment. It would feature boss replacements like Franken Thumb, replacing the Kalhar Boss Monster in the cantina stage.
In the Cantina Fight on brave difficulty you have one chance to kill the boss with plasma if not then you won't kill him unless you get very very incredibly lucky.
I must STRONGLY disagree with part of your message Temujin9000: The lightsaber is awesome. If you fail to wield it properly it is because you are no true Jedi!
I'm so glad they included the scene where Luke slide tackles scorpions for miles through the desert, it's probably the most iconic scene in the movie
But only in the special editions 😛
Yes, and who could forget the Health Swords
XD
hey atleast it's better compared to when vader was a scropion
Or that lava beast jawenko 🤣
I remember as a little kid, I would always beat the first stage, and then I would stop playing soon after starting stage 2. I was just too little to understand what to do. CHRISTIANNWO I know how that feels, I wish I could play all the games I totally just threw aside when I was little 😂
If you have a PS4 or PS Vita you can play it again [sadly empire or Jedi remake... yet...]
same!!! I remember only a few times getting to stage 3 lmao
Exactly the same here :)
I am playing this again on ps4. My older brother got to level 4 as we were kids. Even now i cant get past 2nd level
This was a great playthrough - skillful, no deaths, with annotations for commentary instead of a high-pitched nerd swearing through the whole endeavor. Bravo!
This was my introduction to video games. 22 years later, I'm still hooked.
mighty game this one, admiring it still today as well.
Farm boy meets 2 robots and then an old man, gets laser sword, meets a rebel with a furry, and they go to save a princess with cinnamon bun hair from a giant laser shooting pollen spore. Movie in a nutshell.
A save function would have been appreciated.
SNES and NES Star Wars games... a level of difficulty to make any 10 year old suicidal.
Man, I wish my mom never gave away my SNES. I played this game almost every day.
same that was one of my favorite, with mario kart and street fighter 2
Sam Bouzid Same for me, a lot of fun thanks to that, except the lava stuff in Star Wars that almost drove me crazy :D
Black Heart emuparadise get the emulator and the games for all the systems..
When I was little, my mom used to play this game a lot. I think she beat it.
Ryuuchan162 You're mum sounds awesome! 😎👌
Thanks for the lovely memories and nice footnotes too. lol : )
Anyone else think that the imperial defence droid from the Death Star hanger level looks like ED 209 from Robcop?
Thank you so much!!! Aww my childhood
Anyone watching Jan 2020? 😁
Starwars movie in HBO so I remembered this old nice game.
i play this with my brother, so many memories i have with this game, i love the music from this game, the cantina theme is one of my favorites
I had this on my SNES when I was younger, and I was on the last stage when my SNES fell and broke. I just recently bought this on my Wii like 10 years after my SNES broke, and my goal in life is to beat it on the hardest difficulty.
Dev12345cp nintendo machines are as tough as nails, how did it break?
able2ful1 The actual thing didn't break, but something on the inside came apart or something. If you pick it up (I still have the SNES for memories) You can hear something inside shaking around, like a loose part.
so,i'm guessing faulty construction?
I guess
OMFG open it up and fix it dammit its not rocket science
Thanks for sharing i still have this but havnt played it for 20 years!! Brings back memories!!
That awkward moment you realize a trusty blaster is better than ancient weapons and hokey religions. Seriously, the blaster in this game at max level is godlike if you hold onto it.

RIP: LucasArts (1982-2013) :(
When I was a kid I had trouble getting trough the first stage sometimes. Also always got rekt by the first boss XD.
me tow

58:33 this boss was my nightmare.
What a joke you dont need to take damage there... i was so close
the death scene music always scared me as a kid, like it was so abrupt and quick
The lack of a save option made this game even more scary.
yes when i were young i never made it past the Hover Combat Carrier if i made it so far
@Krys Myro omg
My god this game brings back so many memories. 😫 I remember renting this for the first time at blockbuster.
Who Hasn't Shot Obi-Wan at least five times before realizing he was him
The rescue of Leia on the Death Star mission has given me a frightful new view of the inside of the Space station. this is amazing, so many memories, thanks for posting!! =)
My my bud had a Snes way back when - I started playing this game one night (jumped off that cliff to get a lotta lives) finally got to the Death Star - By this time it felt like it took about 10 days!! brings back so many memories thanks for uploading this
Awsome video, man! I used to have this game and I couldn't go too far because it's damn hard late in the game. Thanks for this video.
AHH HELL YEAH! One of my favorites!
Loved this game. If they do a SNES classic edition I really hope this is included
theRappinSpree they might not have the star wars on there, they didnt really have any like movie/cartoon games on the NES mini, they left out a lot of classics and many of theme were movie/cartoon stuff, like Batman and duck tales, maybe it has something to do with rights, not sure
Ehhh..get a real snes?
better then battlefront
OOOHH, the music and the graphics on snes are actually pretty awesome, comparing to the other 16 bit consoles at the time
why does it say unknown on han solo's profile when it says corellia on the wiki?
this game spends more time on tatooine than in the actual movie holy crap
i didnt know Jedi could do a jump like those guys in Contra
thanks for the suggestion. i'm playing it, but it may take a bit since it's an open world game and i have to figure out what to do including the hidden stuff. looks really fun, I like it. will post when done ;)
50:32 god those crusher things pissed me off as a kid... and still do....
I beat ghost and ghouls routinely. It's about memorization and make sure to use the arrows.
Video games were more fun when they was less sophistimucated. This "Star Wars" game was a great example.
Explain further. What do you mean by sophisticated.
@Andrew Createz I made the comment six years ago when I was still in 1st grade. Since then I realize that quotations are not always necessary.
Legendary...
i remember this game but i also remember there being a level where you can get a lightsaber
1:05:00 waiting to hear "you have 20 seconds to comply"
I am now authorized to use deadly force RATATATTAT!
having the tie fighter attack theme for the landspeeder stage on tatooine was an awesome idea! :D
Thanks for playing as Chewie!
This really brings it back
What's the name of the song in the hovercraft stage?
That moment when you realize that a 1992 Star Wars game has already 'Episode IV', years before the prequels stuff
@@larry-three8225
IV means 4
1992 Gracias me trae muy lindos recuerdos de esos años
i always managed to reach the cantina level then got owned so hard by the boss i couldnt continue
I never imagined being able to play this on a PS4. If it supports Vita I'll be over joyed.
+Marc Jennings It does support vita, its cross buy as well
+Matthew Fieldhouse no platinum trophy.
+Marc Jennings I'm a big PlayStation gamer but big whoop, at least the game is playable and not stuck on the stupid NES
+Marc Jennings it doesss :D not waiting for super empire and super jedi!!
+Marc Jennings its on ps4 and vita
The blaster, lol. just blows the shit out of people. I can just imagine if the movie were that way
anyone remember chuck rock, star wing (with the revolutionary fx chip)!?
yep, that's right :) good old times where games didn't take 3 years to develop and just worked without 20 dlc and hundreds of mb for patches.
A trick for the 2nd level with the land speeder is you don't actually have to move forward to beat it. If you just move side to side and kill the enemies that pop up you'll beat the level very easily.
what modes did you have these super star wars snes games on.
Super Star Wars- The game, the legend
I REALLY hope they take out the timed element of it. That drove me nuts as a kid.
oh my gosh! I had this and played it, had so much trouble getting through the laser fences.
Is this coming to the ps4 and vita?
Yes, it's cross-play for PS4 & PS Vita. The trophies just appeared online.
Wicked!
I used to have this game. It was great from start to finish. And as you know, Disney now owns LucasFilm and with "Episode 7" coming out by 2015, "Super Star Wars" is now considered as a Disney game.
Comes out tomorrow on PS4.

Incredible. We couldn't even make it past the first boss.
At 58:40, lazy Chewie. Not even bothering to look up.
The lightsaber fight with Obi-Wan and Vader isn't in this... WTF?
it is a cutscene
They never show it in the first Nintendo system.
Wow, those Sand People don't play. They jump up and show you they mean business.. I say this game trilogy gets an HD make over, maybe make it easier to save your progress and other such things, put it on PSN, XBLA, etc.

This is a console game that was never ported on PC. Gog only sells PC games.
sooooo sick man!!
Someone should make a fan made hack of this game called ''Super Thumb Wars'' based on the 1999 film by Steve Oedekerk of O Entertainment. It would feature boss replacements like Franken Thumb, replacing the Kalhar Boss Monster in the cantina stage.
This is what Star Wars would have been if Michael Bay made them haha
BAY the force be with you!
Good game,very nostalgic.
these games were hard and I beat them all. very cool
damn I'm at the end and keep dying.
Oh man this takes me back
To the days before the dark times
I hated the assault carrier escape mos islely took me a long time to figure that out
In the Cantina Fight on brave difficulty you have one chance to kill the boss with plasma if not then you won't kill him unless you get very very incredibly lucky.
I could never beat the last part, I knew I was close!
Nice to see the ending though :)
I must STRONGLY disagree with part of your message Temujin9000: The lightsaber is awesome. If you fail to wield it properly it is because you are no true Jedi!
currently stuck on the sandcrawler. frankly, it was a stupid decision not to implement a password save or level select
There's a debug menu
i know but how do i access it?
able2ful1
go to gamefaqs man it's not that hard.
thanks
it is if you're using a keyboard
AAhhh! nothing but memories!
can u tell me how to find this game mame rom
If you can master the sandcrawler, inside and outside, the rest of the game is not going to be a problem. I love this game and the other ones
officially better than battlefront >.
I like star wars & my favorite episode is actually Ep. IV a new hope. Aidan luke Lambert
Coming to PS4!!! Hell Yeah!!!
I never managed to beat this game.
Why don't you use the lightsaber?
Is it just me or does the Imperial Defense Droid look a lot like ED-209 from Robocop?
I thought that too when I was watching the demo play when I rented this when it came out.
LOL @ the comment about taking a Tie Fighter to the face and it not hurting that much
This game always gave me such anxiety. Especially the Sand Crawler mission
Me passa o link do jogo por favor ? Porque eu só tenho o episódio 6
so nostalgic!
This is the game I had on SNES, in the sandcrawler is the hardest level. Beat it in 5th grade. Hard game.
Missed this game on the snes classic mini :(
but you can hack it because its on my SNES Classic Mini
