Le 2 mai 1990 (il y a 31 ans déjà!) commençait le démontage du Grand-Orgue de Notre Dame de Paris pour sa restauration complète.
Cette restauration assurée par 3 entreprises de facture d'orgues sous la direction de Jean-Loup Boisseau: Atelier Boisseau-Cattiaux, Atelier Philippe Emeriau et Atelier Michel Giroud, s'est achevée en décembre 1992.
Au cours du démontage, des prises de vue ont été réalisées par Elisabeth Couzew pour le compte de l'atelier Boisseau-Cattiaux.
Voici en 12 minutes une vidéo (en accéléré) montrant le premier mois de démontage (du 3 au 31 mai 1990). On peut y reconnaitre (entre autres): Jean-Loup Boisseau, Bertrand Cattiaux, Jean-Paul Edouard, Philippe Emeriau, Jean-Marie Gaborit et Pierre-Yves Leblé.
Cette vidéo est accompagné d'une magnifique improvisation de Philippe Lefebvre enregistrée en janvier 2017, donc sur l'instrument après les travaux de 2014.

On 2 May 1990 (it's been 30 years!), the restoration of the great tribune organ of Notre-Dame-de-Paris commenced for its eventual complete restoration.
Atelier Boisseau-Cattiaux, Atelier Philippe Emeriau et Atelier Michel Giroud were the three companies involved within the process, which finished in December 1992. This was done under the direction of Jean-Loup Boisseau. Over the course of the process, Elisabeth Couzew was able to film the process for the Boisseau workshop.
Jean-Loup Boisseau, Bertrand Cattiaux, Jean-Paul Edouard, Philippe Emeriau, Jean-Marie Gaborit and Pierre-Yves Leblé all appear in this 12-minute clip (which has been sped up) that details the first month of the dismantling.
Accompanying the video is an improvisation by Philippe Lefebvre done in January 2017, thus after the 2014 restoration.
After all these years, We finally see what happened to Pierre Cochereau's Console. There's still so much questions about the aftermath of the dismantling, where do the Pipes and the Console end up? Honestly I am dead set against Destruction of Pipes or the Console. But at least we finally have an alternate opening scene to the Film "Point D Orgue A Notre-Dame" (1992).🙂
