This sort of content satisfies the small child inside of me that would sit at the top of the stairs listening to the adults talking below. Thanks for letting us listen in. 🤟
I’ve watched every video you’ve dropped, and some how this was my favorite! Like I want to watch it again to take in anything I missed, this one was more than basketball, felt more like a pod about life, but that included basketball.
Brilliantly stupid. That’s not how bonsai trees are grown. You prune them every year or every couple years. Dude watched karate kid and thought a bonsai is some full time thing. You pull a tree from the ground and prune it and present it or you prune a baby tree every couple years. It’s not an active thing at all. Classic fake smart bs from a bser
15:06 "It's not just one thing." That's a very wise statement and beautiful life advice I'm going to cherish for the rest of my life. It's not about the goal, it's about the little things, it's about the journey!
Yeah JJ is obsessed with basketball he shows love to small market teams that other analysts don’t bother to watch even though it’s their job. Glad to see J Dub getting his flowers consistently from JJ.
This podcast again shows, you can learn so much from sports for to handle your own life. Thats what i like the most about, listening to sportspeople talking about how they deal with obstacles in their lifes.
Wow this episode was genuinely incredible. The build up and stories. And what felt like so many lessons to be learned. I dont know why, but this one really hit hard.
Love this podcast. Just real conversations, insights, and stories from around basketball from different perspectives. No screaming, theatrics, fake takes for attention like the other guys.
One of the best, prob the best episode ever. This episode can actually be a management course to everyone involved in management. Hats off to the team and Mr. Myers.
Honestly, this entire episode justifies not needing the additional show with Bron. There’s MORE than enough basketball-related concepts through these episodes and series to get what the niche audience needs. Far too often Mind the Game is centered around Bron and his opinions, which can get exhausting… respectfully.
It's only been 3 episodes brother give it time... Also Bron has his own niche audience. There's never been a player of his calibre to have a podcast. Only Kobe with his details series@@Chrisbethinking
i think we all have been looking forward to this. and yes jj one of your favourite. myers is a bright mind and delving into that so we can take lessons.
Man I'm so happy I waited until I had time to give this one my full attention. That was a fantastic episode. A great guest with so many stories and such toughtful conversation
I’ve gotta say, lately I have felt lonely, unmotivated, anxious, depressed. Even though I’m not an NBA player, I have so much to be thankful for. The early part of this conversation about what it takes to make it the NBA was really encouraging to me. Have to get lost in the grind, have to look for ways to make myself better, all while being thankful for ALL that I have. Thanks, JJ. May we not lose sight of the fact that sports is a great life teacher.
through watching people talk about players like kobe and steph and lebron, i’ve realized i want nothing more in life than to be talked about so highly by people that respect my profession. truly must feel amazing for steph knowing people love him as a person, not just a basketball player. great podcast
Fact is you did a great job putting teams together. I'd say that TEAM is the most important thing about basketball. See all the guys working together, everyone giving their best, playing in a manner that everyone excels -- those are the things that impressed me so much about the Warriors. That's what made me love the Ws. Ball is ball and it misses out on what is most important for us as a species except in the sense of building teams that excel. Steve, the big 3, but especially all the other guys -- Bog, Andrew, GP2, on and on. How they work together. How they make each other better, how they move the ball, how they play serious D.
I love this channel but i wish they weren't sponsored by a betting company. I'm fed up with seeing betting sponsors on most popular basketball youtube channels. Its everywhrre nowadays
Player: "Are you going to trade me?" GM: "Are you sure you want me to answer that question?" Player: "I want the truth!" GM: "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!" So many insights from very smart guys. Invaluable from a fan of the game stand point.
I remember in 2014 when the Spurs won and all the players are celebrating, Pop just sat there with his hands on his head doing I don’t know what. Prolly thinking about everything that happened from the loss in 2013 to that moment of winning again. I think that’s the stress of winning.
Dis is gonna be a fantastic eps.I want to hear more bout how GM/Executive pick & buy players 4rm College to play in e Nba.How the players get paid due to thr salary, wage & year annuals.Load mngm & injuries handled etc.
Why don't you guys make a poll for the listeners to vote on who wins the draft? Then keeps stats how how the hosts and guests do? You guys are dropping the ball.
Always wondered jj, is it more important for the team to have play off experience or is it enough for the team to be really good and the coaching staff to have playoff experience/preperation
I think the latter is more important. With a team like that youre bound to get playoff experience. The celtics were that and have gotten playoff experience and it's only a matter of time before they win one imo. The bucks have much playoff experience but can't seem to get their coaching right
16:30 I think this is something a lot of people don’t think about. Everybody doesn’t just want to be a bench player and make money. We have to stop thinking about it like their millionaires they don’t matter.
This is one of our favorite conversations ever. Thanks for watching, everyone.
This sort of content satisfies the small child inside of me that would sit at the top of the stairs listening to the adults talking below. Thanks for letting us listen in. 🤟
What a fantastic conversation touching on multiple important aspects contributing to the game of professional basketball whilst “enjoying the moment”

Legit one of the best episodes of this podcast
This may be one of my favorite episodes so far! Love hearing an NBA Executive be honest with what it's like to run a team!
JJ got the 2 best basketball podcasts out rn
new media
I can’t even listen to Stephen A being loud just to be loud anymore. Thank god for JJ and others providing something else.
The LeBron one sucks
The bonsai tree analogy is brilliant.
Brilliantly stupid. That’s not how bonsai trees are grown. You prune them every year or every couple years. Dude watched karate kid and thought a bonsai is some full time thing. I love JJ’s praise for Jalen Williams. He knows ball for real.
Yeah JJ is obsessed with basketball he shows love to small market teams that other analysts don’t bother to watch even though it’s their job. Glad to see J Dub getting his flowers consistently from JJ.
Man I just really like this guy. Really earnest conversation from Myers
Can we get a part 2 could listen to this convo all day!!

Listen, JJ. This is the best. Truth. Transparent, conversation you ever had since you started this thing.
This is gold, one of the best episodes of any podcast I've seen, thank you both🙏
I really love these GM talks. Would love to know more about the agent/front office side
It's so great to hear from a former GM what that side of the game is like. An amazing interview as always, JJ!
One of the best, prob the best episode ever. This episode can actually be a management course to everyone involved in management. Hats off to the team and Mr. Myers.
Don’t have an exact ranking but this seems like one of the best pods to date. I know KD, CP, Steph and draymond are all up there.
Didn’t expect to cry when I clicked on this 2 hour video about NBA basketball.
