  • What a unique guitar we had pass through our shop! Lignatone guitars were made in Cremona Luby, Czechoslovakia between the years of 1955 and 1989. This one appears to be from the 50's or 60's. The finish had gorgeous checking in it, which always make it feel worn-in and well-played. This one sounded as unique as it looks - with it's thin, light body, it didn't have a lot of sustain in the low or high end, but it did have a playful plucky character that inspired us in different ways.
All of our guitars are guaranteed to have the Mood Guitars Treatment, which includes:
    + Fret level / re-crowning
    + Hand-made bone nut
+ Hand-made ebony bridge and rubber saddle
    + Aged Kluson tailpiece, relic’d in-house
    + Aged Kluson Supreme tuners, relic’d in-house
+ Aged flathead, nickel-plated screws and strap buttons
+ Hand-wound proprietary mini-humbucker pickup designed for the rubber bridge
+ Custom-made, aged plastic pickup mount
+ Hand-wired rubber bridge tone circuit
    + Fretboard side dots added
+ Easy action setup with flatwound strings
    + Perfect-fitting, brand-new hard case ($120 value)

My '36 Dobro had a rubber bridge ... I didn't believe that it would have been made with a rubber bridge ... I thought it was a DIY mod. When the Dobro was restored, the rubber bridge was removed and a bone saddle installed. The rubber bridge produces a very unique sound and tone.

Wow, how interesting. I would love to hear what a rubber bridge dobro sounds like. Seems like the bone saddle would give it the sustain it would need though. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for the kind words! We use 15-65 string gauges for our baritone tuning. The baritone tuning is B, E, A, D, F#, B.
