Italian commandos storm Turkish ship to foil migrant hijackers

- Italian special forces stormed a cargo ship after 15 “illegal migrants” armed with knives attempted to hijack a ship and take its crew hostage.
Pictures from the raid showed heavily armed commandos dropping onto the ship from helicopters before moving across the deck with their guns raised.
“The stowaways were using what seem to be weapons like daggers” to threaten the crew, said Guido Crosetto, Italy’s defence minister.
The armed gang was from mainly Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, The Guardian reported. According to Mr Crosetto they were illegal migrants.
The 13 men and two women had snuck onto the Galatea Seaways ship in an attempt to reach Europe. The ship had left Sete in France on June 7, bound for Yalova in Turkey.

A similar thing happened in Indonesian waters , when a cargo ship picked up a large group of illegals from a boat that was sinking. The ship then proceeded to take them to the nearest port, which was in Indonesia, when the illegals found out they attacked the crew and forced the ship to head to Australia.
The media banged on about how the Australian Government was being cruel for not allowing them into the country, despite the fact that they committed an act of piracy , taking over the ship.International law states that those rescued at sea are to be taken to the nearest port.
After a standoff the Australian SAS were sent in to back control of the vessel, these people will do anything to force their way illegally into countries, yet the do gooders bang on about how they the victims. Nope throw them back to where they came from. If that’s how they behave then , what makes the do gooders think, they will become law abiding citizens when they are allowed into a country?

I think they not attacked the crew, In that event, the captain was so well to maintain the condition, even the captain said in interview that he did not feel threatened and there was no risk of him losing his ship, so he changed the course from port of Merak, Indonesia to dock at port of Christmas Island, but he got denied, and Australia adviced him to sneak out the ship to Indonesia maritimes so the refugees didn't know, and he tried to sneak out the ship to Indonesia maritimes, but failed, they became more agitated...He was so concern about the condition of the refugees, even he was afraid if he went to Indonesia Maritimes, they would jump to the sea, so he demanded Australia to accept them...He even reported to Australia that some of refugees were unconscious, and others were suffering from dysentery...Even, SAS doctor said many were suffering from dehydration, exhaustion and minor ailments including sixty one cases of scabies, forty six cases of head lice and twenty six cases of gastroenteritis, among other conditions. They also attended to four pregnant women..Because lost patient The captain acted under Norwegian Government to enter the port without Australia Authorization....After the incident, Australia passed the bill about the refugees, where all the refugees will allocated to Nauru...And the Captain of Tampa, Arne Rinnan awarded with highest civil honour from Norway....The crew of Ship Tampa awarded Nansen Refugee Award by UNHCR...Australia and Indonesia was criticised by several countries, particularly Norway...which accused it of evading its human rights responsibilities...And this incident made a diplomatic dispute between Norway and Australia.
*Edit, the closest port is the Christmas Island six hours closer than port of Merak Indonesia and 140 km north from the island, but it did not have the ability to receive large shipping freighters and neither was it on the vessel's route, so Indonesia agreed to co-ordination of the rescue, and advised the ship to go to port of Merak, but the refugees became more aggressive and demanded to dock in Christmas Island (maybe they awared it was the closest port and their destination.) but the captain didn't feel threatened and agreed with them, so both of side agreed about docking to the Christmas Island, made the event not an act of piracy and the captain not being forced by the refugees. There was no stand-off between SAS and the ship, it just a stand-off between the government and the ship, where they kept denying the ship to dock at the port.

I'm Italian, so I can see myself the problems a mass migration to Italy brings. Humanitarian aids is the main goal, but we can't accept everyone, it's simply impossible. We have a lot of cases of bad people coming from such mass migrations, so we must take care of the people in need, but it's necessary to send back who comes here and begins a career of felon. The only way to help people, is to create in the regions facing the Mediterranean sea, a peace corridor, a safe harbour where these people can be helped, truly helped, and not used as slaves for human trafficking. Lybian problem must be solved, otherwise it will be a mess forever. Taking down a dictator was good, but who did it, didn't even think at the consequences. People need freedom but also need help, not chaos. African needs help, a sustainable help, so people can help their own countries to develop in a sustainable way, so they can slowly close the gap with the first world. It's not easy though, because of the volatile situation of some countries, always corrupted by warmongers, tyrants, coup d'etates and so on. The more we can help each other, the better this will will be in the future.

Just for those wondering this is a unit from Brigata San Marco (Italian Marines) and it's called "Compagnia Operazioni Speciali BAFILE", it's a Tier-2 NATO standard Special Force unit very similar to the US Marines Recon units not the super-specialized Tier-1 Italian Navy commandos and combat frogmen from elite ComSubIn but still a pretty good bunch of lads.
How do I know?
I'm Italian, they said so on our news outlets and I served in the same unit in SanMarco back in the '90 when it was still called SanMarco DOA (Demolizione Ostacoli Antisbarco - Anti-Landings Obstacle Demolition Recons) 😊
