I have a '13 and an '18. Each has its good points and its bad points. The good points of each are really very good. The bad points are not really that bad. Blending the two of them (selecting / riding each one for its best attributes, which do not coincide) nothing else would really interest me. I paid about $9000 for my '13, and 4 years later i've paid about $9000 for my '18. Each was a bargain in its own way, and certainly for 3 times that a bike would have to be beyond miraculous to be worth it.
    [edit]
Something I forgot to mention, and it's important.
Each bike does have its weak points, but what I have found is that discovering techniques and skills to deal with the weak points has been a source of reward and enjoyment.
My '13 doesn't have the best low-speed balance - so learning to compensate for that and stop at intersections with decorum or do elegant low-speed turns is very rewarding.
I don't like the quickshift on the '18 between 1-2-3 rd gear. So, learning to just blend in a little clutch when changing to smooth up and down in the low gears has resulted in a perfect shift and a rewarding cure for a weak point.
There are several other weak points on each, and I work at mastering them.
Instead of being perfect, each bike has a blend of amazing strengths and ... opportunities to acquire and exercise skill. It makes them unique and very enjoyable. It gives them character.

I am not against the new bikes but with my multi 2011 think I am so fast like a V4.
Do a custom remap, filter and exhaust system.
A good Cordona quickshifter, cruise control and öhlins SCU.
And finish… the power is so raw with this update, difficult to find it in the new bikes!
Only my opinion, but I rode V4 before I start writing here..
    Chreers

    2013 brakes aren’t same. I retrofit my 2013 with Stylemas and a 2016 Brembo master. It’s a big upgrade over the P34’s.

I love the new V4 Ducati…but I can’t justify trading my 1260 Enduro in either. My 1260 gets over 300 miles on a single tank, it has all the same electronics, suspension and my Enduro model performs just as well off road. Add in that I already have all the protection added, top loading aluminum panniers & top case, larger wind screen, etc. I can’t pull the trigger either…yet.

I own a 2011 multistrada 1200s and I'd love a newer bike but like you said for 20k for a new bike I'm not gaining anything, maybe a little more power and better sound with the v4 motor but is that really worth 20k. But I still want something newer since mine is getting old but I can't justify spending that much money on a bike I only get to use part time throughout the year. Maybe I'll trade it in and go back to an Aprilia tuono

    I'll keep my 2014.
With everything I've done to my Multi I'll take a huge hit on a trade and besides I've made it my own.
It's not like other Multis I've seen

I dont think you really understand this bike and just want to make your 1260 sound good, but all you have done is contradict yourself

Wonder if the Racing Full exhaust system on the V4 and mapping let the V4 BE more like a NON-Euro 5 compliant motor--i.e.: More grunt at the 4000-5000 midrange where you ride it?

The V4 Multistrada is a massive step forward. I've owned them both, the 1160s I owned was shit compared to the V4. Wake up, stop talking shit and buy the V4. It will change your life it did mine.

You are not making sense. 19” wheel and rear is meant to be ADV and sports tourer…the PP model is the 17” rims with single sided swing arm. The price is the price, the 1200 is not meant off road, this version can do some light off-road easily. I like the V4S much better than the V2 versions. It’s personal preference and subjective. Your opinions and logic are mostly idiotic…the BMWs are more than $30K, and weigh more than 100lbs more.

Pikes peak is the one to have if you want a v4, but its pricey and discontinued (you won't find it for sale). V4 is a nice bike but even at $26k is not worth the upgrade from the 1200. The multistrada is only a sports tourer. When was the last time you've see someone take it off rd. The moral is....if you want a multistrada, go 1200.
