Unfortunately I haven't seen much anime movies lately... I have to catch up😆, and also I don't know what movies you've seen either. Anyway, five excellent movies that aren't bloody or violent, not from Studio Ghibli and highly worth seeing, are: "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", by Mamoru Hosoda "Paprika", by Satoshi Kon "Summer Wars" by Mamoru Hosoda "A Silent Voice" by Naoko Yamada "Memories" by Katsuhiro Otomo
Such a great film. I cycled to the real location of those stairs where they meet at the end of the film the other day. It’s about 20 minutes from my apartment. Even now, 8 years later there are still tourists coming to see and take pictures.
8:18 There are different ways to say "I" in Japanese, depending on what you are: _watashi_ - neutral, more feminine | _watakushi_ - formal, more feminine | _boku_ - polite, more masculine | _ore_ - informal, more manly. Taki (who usually refers to himself with the informal masculine "ore") would appear to be acting very strange if he came in saying "watashi" (feminine) or "watakushi" (formal) to his close friends. They had to keep glaring until he got it right! 🤣 Japanese have different pronouns for men and women, essentially baking gender differences into the language. When Taki and Mitsuha switch bodies, you can really hear which is which through the words they use. 40:48 It's a good thing Taki wrote "I love you" instead of his name on her hand, so his writing did not get erased when everything else was supposed to be erased when they forget (remember what happened to their phone texts). That's because the Moon Goddess (notice the moon is featured in this movie) protects the feeling of love even when ya forget - kinda like how many people, when they wake up, forget what exactly they dreamed about, and yet they remember how they felt in the dream 🤔
To my fellow brethren who searches for new reaction videos for this movie just to feel the catharsis for THAT one scene, put a thumbs up and say hello.
Every once in a while, somebody manages to capture a little bit of magic in something like this movie. Makes you wonder what life might be able to be like. Hello.
The Director confirmed that Taki and Mitsuha were married not long after they met at the stairs. If you watch his other movie "Weathering with You" they both make short cameos and in Taki's grandmother's home you can see their wedding photo.
@CT70H1 I know that, I mean that it could be satisfying if they make a short showing their wedding. I saw Weathering with You and saw the cameos of Taki and Mitsuha, but I don't find where is their wedding photo.
@@gerardoantoniozerpachacin6580 Same. I looked for the wedding photo and couldn't find it. I heard elsewhere that these cameos happened before they reunited on the stairs.
Fun facts about some details of the movie: 1. This was the first movie from Makoto Shinkai with a happy ending....he isnt going for the obvious happy endings most of the time. I was so glad he did this time. 2. The writing of "I love you" was intentional so she would go on to find him. If he wrote her name she would be only confused why this name is on her hand, but Love is stronger and survives time, was the message. He knew from the conversations that all memories will fade out, so he gave her a strong intent to push herself to the limit. Detail from her hand holding, she had the same intention. For her name the first line she write on his hand doesnt make sense, so she wanted to write the same... 3. All the places you saw are real, they had great details from all around Japan. The stairs were they meet is a tourist hot spot now. Good luck on your recovery Biss and dont worry with the crying, im a 34 years old muscle dude and i cry everytime ;-; Greetings from Germany

Speaking of not happy endings... The first "movie"(it's only like 30min) of his I saw was Hoshi no Koe(Voices of a Distant Star) 20 years ago, where he made everything by himself. He wrote it, produced it, animated it and even voiced it along with his partner. I haven't rewatched it since but it made a big impression and I still think of it from time to time.

Hi Biss, prepare for this adventure of anime heaven. :) But also be prepared that visually all anime is different. Hajao Mijazaki works are the most known outside Nippon (Japan). Howls Moving Castle (very great movie with loveable charachters), Chihiro (weird visually but heartwarming), Princess Mononoke (18+ very hard in visuals). Also very awesome movies: Steamboy, Grave of the fireflies (get tissuebox ready), Mirai - Girl from the future, Wonderful day (mixed 2D-3D graphics but heartwrecking), Totoro - Secret of the magic forest, Porco Rosso, The boy and the Heron, Kiki - The witch delivery (or something), The Cat returns... and so on. With Studio Ghibli anime movies You can NOT get a failure. Awesome reaction by the way as always. You are a real treasure. I hope someday I will find a near as kind hearted, smart woman like You for the rest of my life. Keep up these great videos/reactions and "never grow up" (Gru - Despicable Me)
The Connection Between Tiamat and Your Name. The recurring theme of “kataware” (片割れ, or “fragment”) and the intertwining of Taki and Mitsuha’s lives, culminating in their eventual union in Your Name., resonates deeply with the symbolism of Tiamat. Your Name was a great reaction to one of the best anime films ever. I like to imagine the town's god worked really hard to save its people. A few suggestions, aside from the usual Miyazaki films. Summer Wars (2009) Ghost in the Shell (1995)
If you liked that, you might want to try the first three episodes of Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Sempai. (Don't be put off by the title, it isn't what you think). Its plot has a very similar vibe to Your Name.
What a great reaction, no surprise, I'm glad you loved it! Please react to Belle (2021)! It's one of the rare animes that, IMO, is okay to listen to in dub, only for the fact that it's one of those movies where they got actual singers to voice act instead of the other way around, so the music is wonderful! I've listened to the same song in Japanese, English, and even German! If you need a preview of the movies soundtrack, just check out some of the music videos right on TH-cam! But please consider it, I'd love to see your reaction since it'd be to a movie, anime, and music! Also there are actually not that many reaction videos to this anime, despite being beautiful both visually and audibly. Arigato gozaimasu! ♥
one of my favourite anime movies! you should watch the movies/series of satoshi kon too, my favourite anime-director. (or example millenium actress, paprika, perfect blue,...) and sorry, but i watch anime dubbed. no idea why you saif it hould be punished, it is perfectly fine. no ide, how good the dubbing in your language is but in my language it is often better than the originalvoice in their languages. i know that anime are special in this regards and the voices are always better, but havung to read all the time, i would miss mich if what is going on with the details in the picture. so watchin in japanese is perfect for 2nd or 3rds watching of a movie, but the first is always dubbed for me, nothing else makes really sense
Unfortunately I haven't seen much anime movies lately... I have to catch up😆, and also I don't know what movies you've seen either. with this kind of reaction, I genuinely curious what will happen if you watch Look Back 🤔. it's recently available on streaming and not many people do the reaction yet, you might be one of the first. 🙂
ok biss watch now weahering with you, suzume, 5 centimeter per second, the garden of words. these four of the are by the same movie director who was of the your name. and at last i would also recommend some other movies which is not by makoto shinkai the director of your name. 1. silent voice 2. i want to eat your pancreas 3. a whisker away 4. spirited away 5. ride your wave 6. summer ghost 7. into the forest of fireflies 8. josee the tiger and the fish 9. Grave of the Fireflies 10. perfect blue(watch 10th movie at last of those all movie because it diff from others, and i want you to watch at last) and at last i would say dont watch all movies on the same day, i dont want you to get depressed. i hope you will react🥲
@@BissQT I would also suggest "I Want To Eat Your Pancreas"..but I have not see it..I hear it's very good...The reason I have not seen it is because I lost my partner of 24 years to Pancreatic Cancer in 2017..so I feel it might be to much for me...Thank You...P.S. Taki and Mitsuha make cameos in "Weathering With You".
The first Anime movie that I cried to Miss Biss. This plus all of Studio Ghibli movies are the best. So you say you want to live in Tokyo, I lived there for 14 years and was glad to move back to suburban life. Tokyo is a great place to visit and tour in, as there are so many things to see and do, but the prices, the crowds, and basic cultural differences will make you want to leave after a while. I do miss the bento boxes and in general all the cuisine of Japan though. Hope the channel does as well as your other channels.❤

I believe the choice of "Tiamat" as the comet’s name may have been a deliberate decision to align with these themes.
**Similarities Between the Myth of Tiamat and Your Name.
1. Division and Reunion
In the Tiamat myth, the goddess is split in two by Marduk. Her upper half forms the heavens, and her lower half becomes the earth, creating the cosmos. This division symbolizes the birth of a new order from chaos.
In Your Name., Taki and Mitsuha start as separate, fragmented beings ("kataware")-physically and temporally divided. As the story progresses, they search for each other, ultimately reuniting and completing one another. This echoes the theme of "division leading to unity."
2. The Metaphor of "Fragments"
Just as Tiamat's divided body becomes the fundamental elements of the universe, in Your Name., Taki and Mitsuha are each incomplete without the other. Their "fragmented" existence finds meaning and balance through their reunion.
3. The Relationship Between Nature and Humanity
In the Tiamat myth, natural forces like the sea and chaos are personified and ultimately brought under control by the gods to create the structured cosmos.
In Your Name., the natural force of the comet Tiamat becomes a central element of the narrative, shaping the fates of Taki and Mitsuha. The comet’s destructive power (akin to Tiamat’s rage) also brings about connection and renewal (mirroring Tiamat’s role in creation).
4. The Cycle of Creation and Destruction
Tiamat's destruction gives rise to the creation of the universe, demonstrating the cyclical relationship between chaos and order.
In Your Name., the comet Tiamat’s devastation sets the stage for Taki and Mitsuha’s fateful connection and the eventual hope for a new beginning. This interplay of destruction leading to creation aligns with the mythological philosophy of Tiamat.
The Possible Intent Behind the Name
The choice of "Tiamat" for the comet may have been deliberate, aligning with director Makoto Shinkai's recurring theme of "fragmented elements seeking unity."
The comet, a celestial force, serves as a metaphor for the division (“kataware”) and eventual reunion of the protagonists.
The Tiamat myth’s themes of chaos, division, and creation mirror the narrative structure of Your Name.: from separation and loss comes connection and hope.
Both Tiamat and Your Name. deal with how the forces of nature, time, and space interact with human relationships, emphasizing the universal importance of connection.
The Deeper Meaning of "Kataware"
The repeated use of the term “kataware” reinforces the central message of seeking wholeness and connection, offering multiple layers of interpretation:
The Nature of Human Relationships
Each individual is incomplete, and relationships with others help us fill what we lack.
Cosmic Connectivity
Not only are Taki and Mitsuha connected, but so are the comet, time, and the land-they all seek to bridge their fragmentation.
Hope and Renewal
The journey to find one’s “fragment” (kataware) is also a journey toward building a new future, overcoming the destruction of the past.
Conclusion
The name “Tiamat” is more than just a reference to a comet; it symbolizes the overarching themes of Your Name. The story’s exploration of division and reunion, destruction and creation, and the harmony between nature and humanity closely aligns with the Tiamat myth.
Given Makoto Shinkai’s meticulous storytelling, it seems likely that the choice of the name “Tiamat” was a calculated decision, tying the comet to the profound themes of fragmentation and unity that define the film.

and sorry, but i watch anime dubbed. no idea why you saif it hould be punished, it is perfectly fine. no ide, how good the dubbing in your language is but in my language it is often better than the originalvoice in their languages. i know that anime are special in this regards and the voices are always better, but havung to read all the time, i would miss mich if what is going on with the details in the picture. so watchin in japanese is perfect for 2nd or 3rds watching of a movie, but the first is always dubbed for me, nothing else makes really sense
Ruben is my favorite anime movie ❤
今観ても好きなアニメ
My favorite anime to watch now
watch "weathering with you" from same director of "your name", same universe
這是我最愛的動畫電影,很高興你也看了
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it as well
Unfortunately I haven't seen much anime movies lately... I have to catch up😆, and also I don't know what movies you've seen either.
Anyway, five excellent movies that aren't bloody or violent, not from Studio Ghibli and highly worth seeing, are:
"The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", by Mamoru Hosoda
"Paprika", by Satoshi Kon
"Summer Wars" by Mamoru Hosoda
"A Silent Voice" by Naoko Yamada
"Memories" by Katsuhiro Otomo
If you want your next animated film to cry at, I recommend Grave of the Fireflies. That one broke me and I am a 56 y/o Scotsman that thought he was emotionally "hard as nails!" 😭
Oh wow, many have recommended that one
Thank you for sharing!! ;D
My pleasure
Deja vu feeling 😅
✌️
Cant gatekeep greatness no? haha
Watch 'Weathering with you' you'll see Taki and Mitsuha again briefly (and yes they are married) :)
38:48 ..if the comet fragment fell exactly in the temple where they make saliva sake, maybe just maybe the gods don't like it very much
Grave of the Fireflies next!
Hi Biss, I highly recommend that you watch the anime "A Silent voice".
Graveyard of the fireflies
I dare you😅😅😅
Recomand Frieren: Beyond Journey's End :) mi-ar placea sa vad un reaction video la acest anime.
All those places are real. The restaurants and cafes and streets exist in Tokyo.
Didn't you do this already? We're reposting reactions?
😅 I rewatch already, is a good movie with reaction
I think this is a fake account.
@@Mitsuha-Sakura It's actually her, she uploaded a video up on her Bisscute channel a couple of weeks ago called "New Channel Hype! Discover something NEW" where she talks about setting up this channel for anime related reactions - films, series and their soundtracks. She just threw her part anime reactions into this one to consolidate them all on one channel I guess 😄
😅understood,thanks@@Kenneth_Murphy
I just noticed, I like staring at you. You looked like Natalie Dormer ❤
Freelen is a recent recommendation.
Another Makoto Movie "Kotonoha no Niwa" or "I wanna eat your pancreas" and "A silent voice" :3

@@BissQTwith i wanna eat your páncreas you are gonna cry deeply
with this kind of reaction, I genuinely curious what will happen if you watch Look Back 🤔. it's recently available on streaming and not many people do the reaction yet, you might be one of the first. 🙂
Oh? I’ll take it into consideration

”Yamato”
"Weathering With You" and "A Silent Voice".
Ill note it down, thanks
@@BissQT "Weathering With You" = Taki & Mitsuha make cameo's. "A Silent Voice" = tough subject matter. Thanks.
彼の名前は「すきだ」さんでしたー( *´艸`)✨

There are some anime where the English dub is just as good or better than the original.

This is a repost, right? pretty sure I've seen her react already. Don't want to re-paste my copypasta if it is. lol
It's too late to watch! lol
I watched it 3 times and cried 3 times.
i heard 4 is the magic number
The first Anime movie that I cried to Miss Biss. This plus all of Studio Ghibli movies are the best. So you say you want to live in Tokyo, I lived there for 14 years and was glad to move back to suburban life. Tokyo is a great place to visit and tour in, as there are so many things to see and do, but the prices, the crowds, and basic cultural differences will make you want to leave after a while. I do miss the bento boxes and in general all the cuisine of Japan though. Hope the channel does as well as your other channels.❤
