Do you accept outside work? I need this done on a 205 that I'm building. I live in Idaho and would be willing to travel to Utah to have you work on my case.
Depends on the shop you take it to but if you take it already completely disassembled I would think a couple hours shop rate is all. Maybe $150-$200 range. Thanks for watching. Mike
I pulled an NP205 off of a parts truck that I had, and the old bearing slid out if you tipped the case forward. I machined the case for the larger bearing and I may have overshot just a hair. It takes a tiny bit of persuasion to go in, but when it's in, I can rotate the outer race of the bearing. Will this be okay? All of the other bearings have a similar fit it seems like.
You should be fine. One thing on the older NP205 and NP203 transfer cases is they are also sandwiched between components in addition too a very slight interference fit.
This really isn't a press fit, very little effort and it's in. I prefer them just a little more snug than to be able to their them in from across the room.
Nice detailed work sir. I'm about to tackle this same process. I appreciate the info.
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for the comments and thank you for taking the time to watch.

The bearings on a np205 are supposed to be slip fit not press fit
