The South Yorkshire Navigation was a favourite trip in years past. Cruised it several times, either from Thorne or Great Heck to Sheffield on either of my old narrowboats (Two Jays / Deucalion). Extended stays at Doncaster and Sheffield added to the adventure of the trip. Precious memories so a big thankyou for helping return to times past with your enjoyable and interesting videos. 👍 👍
Thank you so much for this vlog. I live at Kilnhurst and have walked lots of bits along this section but sadly never got to bring my boat. I only ever got as far as Long Sandall so it is good to see the view from the canal and river 😊
The problem with Eastwood moorings is that the Continuous Moorers have taken it over, some of those boats have been there for over 2 years with more appearing, CaRT enforcement team have done nothing to sort the issue. If anyone is visiting Sheffield, moor at Iccles Lock the night before your passage up the flight👍
I walk and film along the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal quite often. You need to contact the CRT in advance for passage through the Tinsley locks but you've probably discovered that already. Safe boating thank you.
What a nice cruise!! I love the length myself...Michael always a hoot! Bless George. !❤ Take care and be always safe!!! Good to see you as always!! Thnx! 🤓❤
The word itching has always been used in the family as Jo uses it! I think it's hilarious that it's causing Michael to correct and explain; please, I wish you could convince my children too. 😂
Bless you for the sneeze at the beginning, we've walked opposite side to the broken mill at Mexborough few yr ago, didn't see any lock keepers though, anyway grand journey. S T A Y safe in Rotherham yeh. That snail would look good on a T shirt Michael. All the best Gary n Irene
As with your friendly Husky, I remember the wolves at the Wildwood Trust park in Kent were affected in the same way by passing ambulances. As they started to howl(?) the hairs on my neck began to rise. Primal memories run deep. That is a very different sort of canal you were on? 'Boating on a Budget' territory.
Bless you Michael when you sneezed. Hope George is feeling better from his ear 😍😍😍😍😍 stay safe!!! Made it through 2 hurricanes here in Florida counting my blessings. It was very scary.
I am getting an even greater understanding of the Sheffield and Doncaster region from your channels and that of TimAWells as things mentioned by you are examined by Tim as well.He did an entire video on the Doncaster Minster St Georges. It was new to him and he went back to explore it further.
I mentioned before when you were last in the area, that the motte and bailey Conisbrough Castle is a real delight and well worth a visit. For me, it brings back memories of a lovely Spring morning in the 90s during my repping days, when I had time between local customers to visit it. Apparently Sir Walter Scott was inspired by it to write 'Ivanhoe'. 😊
Two days in Rotherham? Whoopee! (And I say that as someone who knows Rotherham a bit, so you can judge whether there is sarcasm involved in that or not.) It isn't the worst place in the country, but it has sadly never been out of that grouping.
This video was very enjoyable and informative.I think in the past Michael you use to wear shirts with cookiey monster on them? If so what happened to cookie monster?? Take care be safe and say hello to George . See you all on the next video 😮😊😊😮😊😊
My neighbours have a Malamute and she also calls the pack every time she hears a police siren. I'm sad for her, because she is basically a pack animal and I think she identifies the police siren as a far off pack that she wants to join.
I am not sure what is meant by police trees and Google is not really helping.I think it is a tree that provides good hiding places for both the police and the hinted ?
'I've Never Seen Star Wars' is the name of a BBC Radio 4 comedy chat show where people are encouraged to try new things. After years of being dragged to the cinema by a good friend to see mainly obscure but artistic films, I insisted he come with me to see a new improved version of the original Star Wars film (which he'd never seen). He moaned about it all the way through...Some people don't like to try new things, it would seem.
AROOO! :D I don't mind a bit of calling the pack myself, though I am a bit shy. English is impossible! All the traditional ways of using words are wrong. :) I have no idea how to take the lieutenant wharf joke, but that's because I'm recuperating from some pretty epic sleep deprivation and will be off to bed again in a minute. I'm all right so long as it doesn't turn into one of those days where I want a Star Wars ship in the Star Trek universe, because that's just wanting too much power. ;) Oh I wanted to see Tolkein at the Tiller but missed it due to the sleep thing. Might get to it tomorrow.
I've Never been a face hugging Alien fan! Definitely prefer Star Wars and 4,5 & 6 will always be the best although I did enjoy 1,2 & 3 the last couple of films in the series though were very disappointing! But Disney have done very well with The Mandalorian and bobba fett & other mini series they've come out with on Disney+ 🤓👍❤️🇬🇧🏴🇨🇮🏴🏳️🌈

Greetings from Don Mills in the heart of Toronto located along the Don River which drains into Lake Ontario.

Lidl at Mexborough has it's own mooring area. Great to get the shopping in..😊 Also the Gorilla bar has moorings outside it..😁👍😉
There are no moorings outside Lidl due to the fact it’s a turning zone for the Tanker and the signage clearly states that👍
@@alfieafloatontheboat6857 oops, sorry. Seen a couple of boats moored shopping as there are mooring points... I'll have to look more closely 👍😉
@@NormanTyrertanker only travels to rotherham once a week so its generally fine to call in at Lidl if you know where about’s on system exol pride is
A very enjoyable video to watch on a Sunday evening.

I bet t you wish all locks were electronically operated! Nice scenery even if it was a bit industrial in places. What huge locks.
Hey George! Our 17 year old American Bulldog is jealous of your adventures.
I I love huskies, we had a Siberian. Yes they do howl. Love them. She made me smile a lot. Looking forward to this.
❤ enjoyed the video thank you
A friend of mine usually volunteers at Sprotborough lock on a Monday, at Kilnhurst you pass just a mile from me.

It's an interesting area and Doncaster in particular has a bit of a name for being depressed but there is so much history in both.

the best 3 things on the cut...love you all
So, has anyone sent you an artwork proof of your snail to print and sell?
The bridge by Doncaster prison is closed off to the public at the minute as it's unsafe
Is it open for escaped prisoners? 🤔
if only i had known would have operated the locks from sprot up to eastwood unable to do it as working on your way back down
Itching a scratch is perfect lincolnshire speak

Nice vlog. What were your careers out of interest before cruising?
A sniff check helps to detect an ear infection sometimes..

I think Michael just made it up because they were in such a regular formation.
I am a Trekkie and found Star Wars boring and confusing .The music of John Williams best part of Star Wars.
Star Trek was believable . 21:00

Oh yes, Trek was the believable one, if it came down to child manipulating space wizards vs green child manipulating space gods. M
